Astrid's secret identity as the mysterious business Guru made countless headlines. A lot of companies reached out to her for collaborations and interviews, but she kindly declined them as she had trusted partners who supported her company to move forward.
She was fully aware of the pressure that would follow her reveal in society, but she didn't care anymore as she was no longer the timid and gullible Mrs. Wade, who had no voice of her own.
In fact, she wanted to rub it on her ex-husband's face that he had lost a diamond while chasing after a rusty gold.
She made a promise to herself that she would never allow anyone to push her around again. As for love, no man would ever be worthy of her affection again.
Astrid's secretary, Nelson, walked into her large office holding a list of things she had asked him to research.
“Ms. President, I have gotten all the names you requested for. Just as you said, they are all involved in sharp practices," he informed her, and she took note of them.
“Good, have them struck out. Those old geezers think they can get away with their illegal dealings without getting caught. Issue them their dismissal letters and have them blacklisted for good," she ordered with a stern voice before Nelson left her office.
Now that she was fully present in her company, she was single-handedly fishing out those who were corrupt.
She wasn't going to condone any mistakes or omissions caused out of carelessness by any of her employees, including her board members.
After settling down in her office, she went through prospective candidates who would be employed to work at her company in the next coming interview.
She ruled out unnecessary resumes and selected those who satisfied her criteria. As a business guru, she never took anything for granted, not even her employees.
Meanwhile, at the Wade family house, Grandma Wade had summoned her grandson. She was infuriated by his actions and demanded an explanation.
“Rowan! What do you mean by she left on her own? You clearly made her leave by bringing an unwanted homewrecker into your house!" She roared furiously at her grandson.
“What am I supposed to do? She decided to leave on her own. Besides, none of these would have happened if you had not interfered with my relationship with Victoria in the past," he spewed out, unremorseful of his actions.
Grandma Wade stared at him wide open, shocked by his accusation.
“I know that you drove a wedge between me and Victoria. You were the reason why she left with my son in the first place. How could you make her choose between me and money? I thought you cared about me." Rowan questioned his grandmother with a hint of betrayal in his voice.
Grandma Wade narrowed her eyes at him, disappointed by her grandson's foolish decision.
“And what did she choose in the end?" She inquired with a distinguished voice.
He stared at her speechless. Rowan was pained that she had to make him pass through such hell. “You knew how broke I was after she left Grandma. But you chose to bring Astrid as her replacement. Now, I am the one being abandoned again," he accused her, and she closed her eyes in anger.
“No, you made Astrid leave you, and I don't blame her for doing so. But for that vicious woman who chose wealth over you, I won't tolerate it." Grandma Wade persisted on her ground without hesitation.
Seeing that his grandmother wouldn't change her mind, he made his final decision in front of her.
“If that is the case, then it is best we cut ties. I won't abandon my son again."
“Very well, don't come back to me if it is not about Astrid because I won't give a listening ear," she concluded adamantly. Even though she cared so much about her grandson, she couldn't change the love she had for Astrid.
She let him leave without feeling any form of guilt. As far as she was concerned, she made the right decision for him, but he was too blind to see it.
Rowan drove back to his house feeling down and betrayed. He never thought that Astrid would leave him.
He tightened his grip on his steering wheel, pinning all sorts of blame on Astrid for abandoning him.
‘she is the one that chose to leave. It is her fault not mine!'
Once he got home, he felt her absence regardless of the fact that Victoria and his son were in his presence.
“Rowan, you are back. What took you so long? Noah missed you a lot," she pretentiously said with a worried tone.
He looked at his son, who was staring at him with glistening eyes like that of a person who had cried for a while.
“I am sorry," he apologized, carrying his son into his arms.
Victoria smiled and reached out to touch him, but Rowan moved away from her. “Don't get things twisted, Victoria. Just because you showed up randomly with my son doesn't mean I have forgotten about our past," he clearly warned her, and she bit down on her lower lip.
“I know that you don't trust me now. But I want to let you know that my return is genuine. And I will do everything for you to see me in a good light. Our son has taught a good lesson, and I hope we can experience life with him together," she said smoothly, like a tender rabbit.
Rowan walked past her and went up to his room with his son in his arms. He never forgave those who abandoned him, and now that Astrid had done the same thing he dreaded the most, he was certainly going to get under her skin. He hated that it had to be her, and the fact that he was affected by it so much made him confused.
After placing his son on his bed, he took up his laptop and sent an email to his secretary. He had already read about his ex-wife's trending headline and was ready to storm her world.
Once it was evening, Astrid's secretary drove her back to her family's main house. She had gotten a call from her Mom earlier to come home for dinner. She needed a break as well from the emotional rollercoaster she had escaped from. After her divorce with Rowan, she felt free from the pressuring grip that held her down on the Wade family. Rowan was no good for her, he had neglected her feelings for years and brought his ex to their home regardless of her position as his wife. But she had seen to the end of such treatment by leaving her cold hearted husband. She freely slammed the door of her car and handed the keys to her parents' favorite butler, Mr. Williams. "Welcome home, young Miss. It is so good to see you," he said with a compassionate glint in his eyes. Aside from being her parents Butler and the main housekeeper, he was her second father who took care of her throughout her childhood. He had a daughter the same age as Astrid who was no other than her best friend, Rose."Than
Hello, everyone. This book will be getting massive updates from now on. I am done with my exams and can freely write now. Also, yesterday was my birthday and as a gift from me to you, I will drop five chapters today. Happy reading 😘."What?!" Astrid yelled as she stood up with a force that slammed her chair to the ground. Her parents were startled by her sudden outburst and wondered what made her react in such a way.Her eyes flared with anger as she stared at her phone. Ava quietly dropped her fork and focused on her daughter, curious and worried about her outburst at the same time."Is there something wrong?" She asked, her husband as well had a frown on his face as he patiently waited for his daughter to speak up.Astrid looked up from her phone and softened her furious expression. "It is a business venture that I have been aiming for. But I lost track and some other company is partnering with them,",she lied.If she actually told them what was on her screen, her parents would s
The next morning, Astrid rushed over to her company, skipping her breakfast for an appointment. Her parents were worried about her dedication to her work but she assured them of being attentive to her health. On getting to her company, her secretary, Nelson stood at the entrance ready to welcome her. He stepped forward and opened the car door for her."Good morning, Boss," he greeted.Astrid flashed him a bright smile and responded to his greeting. "Good morning, Nelson. How was your night?" She asked and he flushed red.Even though it was a regular greeting between him and his Boss, Nelson couldn't deny his admiration for her. To him, she was a super woman with great talents, smart and unwavering. Most of all, she was beautiful. It was shocking to hear that Mr. Wade had chosen someone else over her. Nelson now thinks of Mr. Wade as blind and foolish man for making such a choice. The thought of it made him feel so furious. "Nelson?" Astrid called. He snapped out of his thoughts and t
After the day's work, Astrid called it a day. She was satisfied with the outcome of her work schedule being completed, especially the part where she instructed Nelson to blacklist Mr. Harper's company. No one dares mess with her and goes free. The man and his company were thrown into a complete hysteria. Reporters flooded him for an explanation while stockholders who invested in his company rained insults and demanded for their money. The man was a total fraud. Fortunately, Astrid was able to unmask his facade on time. She took her coat and purse and walked out of her office, ready to hit the road back home. "Nelson, I will be leaving now. Take care, and please don't pull an all-nighter. Go home and have a good rest. Oh, tomorrow, don't bother coming to work. I will be spending time with Rose for the day. So take a day off," she informed him before going out of the office. She went down to the underground garage and retrieved her car. "Goodbye, Ms. President," the security officer g
Noah's little sneeze wakes Rowan up from his sleep. It is 7 A.M. in the morning and the little child seems to have caught a cold.Rowan places his hand on his forehead checking Noah's temperature. But he isn't running a temperature. He gets up from his bed, goes down to the kitchen and warms up a bowl of milk which he later transfers to a glass. On his way back to his room, he finds Victoria sitting at the front of his door with her knees bucked to her chin and her arms wrapping around them."What are you doing here?" He growls at her, angry at the sight of her."So now, I can't see my own child anymore? Do you think it is easy for me...." She tries to say but Rowan cuts her off instantly not giving her a chance to complete her words."Noah does not need you to be with me. I should be the one bonding with him and not you. The only reason why I brought you here is for him not to feel lonely and lose his motherly love," Rowan reminds her and she presses her lips into a thin line, frustr

Happy weekend, dear readers❤️"Please, let us off this once. I didn't mean to cause trouble. My girlfriend was only trying to act foolishly and I apologize for that," the young man begs exempting himself from the situation. His girlfriend stares at him in astonishment. She had no idea that he would dump her off just to save his ass.All of this was his doing just so he could show off to his friends. However, the young girl exaggerated her role and landed both of them in trouble."So now you know how to beg? What happened to that insolent tone of yours? Both of you are going in for the damages you caused to the employees," Astrid says firmly."We are sorry for the nuisance we caused. We did not intend to create such...""I don't need your excuses. You not only humiliated the employees but also assaulted them verbally and physically. If I hit you and call you the names you used on them, do you think your mental health will remain the same? These employees are trying their best to please

Astrid finally found her voice but Rowan slammed his hand on her mouth, muffling her scream. She struggled to break free from him but he was too strong for her. But she refused to give up so easily because of his strength over her.Biting down his palm, she dug her pointy heel on his shoe. Rowan frowned in pain but that only made him tighten his grip on her.He used his other hand to pin her waist against the wall, digging his nails into her skin until she was unable to bear the pain and stopped her harm on him."Are you done being stubborn?" He asked in a dark hushed voice that sent chills down her Spine.Astrid knew that Rowan was scary and had a dark side that he only kept to himself. But never did she think that he was dangerous. The aura he was emitting while holding her
"WHAT! No, I don't want to share a bed with you." Astrid protested but he ignored her tantrums and embraced her, covering the sheets on her bed over their body."I promise I won't touch you or do anything inappropriate as you say," he muttered trying to convince her to agree to his idea."You already DID! How am I supposed to trust you the second time? Get out of my bed!" She raised her voice at him adamant about her choice.Rowan slightly rolled his eyes and sighed. He wished Astrid wouldn't be so stubborn. All he wanted was to lay beside her and embrace the emotions that had been erupting within him."Be quiet, Astrid." He declared with a cold voice."Now you are getting mad at me? Wow..." Astrid said in surprise but her remaining words were swallowed when he kissed her."I thought you said you won't do anything inappropriate to me.""Yes, I did. But each time you complain, I will kiss you.""You, pathological liar..." He kissed."Butter head." Another kiss."Tyrant." He trailed kis
The cold silence of the night added to the intense atmosphere created by Rowan and Astrid. They were both seated, facing each other across a large s-shaped dining table.Neither of them wanted to talk, but their eyes held so many questions that needed to be answered. After a short while, when Astrid got up to leave, He decided to break the silence between them. "Please, sit down.""Please? That does not sound like you." "Will you like it if I had asked harshly?""That will depend on how you say it."Rowan narrowed his eyes straight at her as they darkened. "Sit down, Astrid." He commanded with a cold voice."That's better." Astrid sat back on her chair and looked straight at him.He got up from where he sat, walked over to the side she was sitting, pulled out a chair beside her and sat down. She stared at him confused, questioning his behavior with her gaze."Don't just look at me, say something if you want to. I won't bite you if you do," Rowan said, then abruptly pulled her chair
It has been a week since Astrid encountered Rowan. After their nerve-wrecking argument, Rowan steered out of her way. There was no sign of him in the mansion he had locked her in. Astrid felt dejected and depressed from everything he was doing to her.She even went ahead to go on a hunger strike. If he wasn't going to show up and take responsibility for what he has done, then she would do the unforgivable."Young Miss, please let us in. Mr. Wade will kick us out if he finds out that you starved yourself for a week," A maid complained, banging at Astrid's door.Rowan had left her and some other maids in charge of Astrid's welfare until he came back. But none of them were finding it easy to carry out their jobs. Astrid decided to be a thorn to them just to get back at Rowan. She knows he would panic if he found out that she starved for a week. And she plans to put the blame on him. However, her little protest was not an easy one. She could barely lift her finger let alone stand up an
Back to the day Astrid presented her divorce papers.Rowan rumbled nonstop, causing under his breath as he stared at the signed divorce papers his wife had given to him.His stomped his left foot in agitation, glaring back and forth at the papers and the lawyer she had submitted it to for finalization in court."Mr. Wade...""Burn it all." He growled, terrifying the poor lawyer to death."but I have already sent the document to the magistrate court...""Do you not like your job anymore? How dare you send those documents without informing me? If you don't want to face my wrath, you better find a means to withdraw the grant," he coldly said before walking out of the lawyer's office. He was extremely furious that Astrid had taken matters into her hands without confronting him properly. The fact that she went through his company's lawyer and faced the biggest betrayal from him made him go crazy. There was no way he was going to let her go. Especially when her birthday is tomorrow. He to
Nothing could compare to the pain Astrid felt deep in her chest. It was as if her heart was contracting against her chest each time Rowan bit her, claiming every part of her body with his vicious marks. The worst part of all was he never listened not even to her pleas."I am going to hurt you," he muttered with a low voice.Astrid looked away from him, giving up on begging him because he would never listen."Look at me," he commended. But she refused, keeping her head turned and eyes closed."Look at me for damn sake!" He roared, digging his nails into her skin."So what? I can watch you hurt me? I will never forgive you, Rowan. Get on with what you want to do. I don't care anymore," she muttered, giving up on her fight. She hardened her heart and glared at him with a spiteful gaze in her eyes.Rowan closed his eyes, regretting his behavior towards. He just couldn't accept the idea of her being with someone else. "You don't mean that," he mumbled, his creased brows softened, visibly
Sometimes, things are not always meant to be. Even if it means hurting someone just to prevent it from happening. And that was what Astrid had done. She moved away from Scott, regretting her decision to engage him when deep down, she was still hurting and yet to heal."I am sorry, Scott. But I don't think we can walk out. What happened between us will be saved in my heart. Just act like nothing ever happened between us," she coldly said, getting up to leave but he grabbed her hand and stopped her from taking another step."How am I supposed to act like nothing happened between us, Astrid? I just gave you the permission to use me as you want.""Even if it's to get back to my ex?" "Yes.""No, that's what I cannot do. I am not selfish and inconsiderate, Scott. I know what it feels like not to be loved back by the person you cherish the most. How can I make someone else suffer the same thing I passed through, knowing how deep it hurts?. I won't do that to you, never. Let's just be frien
"Date me." Scott's words echoed in her mind, stunning her at most. she didn't think that he would see her in such like. In a romantic way, yet again, she has failed to notice the things around her."I... can't...""Think about it before you answer. I am not in a rush, as long as you get what you want, I won't mind being used," he said, his eyes clear with honesty."Scott, I don't think I want to do that to you. If I use you just to get back at my ex, it will only hurt you in the end because I can't stay by your side," She muttered, hurting him with her words. He knew this would be her answer but he was taking the chance. Even though it would cause him pain in the future."Just think of it as me helping you. I don't mind, I will bear the consequences later," he said, his voice desperate for acknowledgement. The way his heart raced in his chest, hoping that Astrid would accept his offer. Even if it was for a short while, at least he gets to be by her side. "If that is what you want the
"What the heck is wrong with you?" Astrid barked at Rowan pushing him away from Scott. After witnessing the brutal punch Rowan landed on Scott's face, she quickly unclipped the seatbelt holding her back with a speed that she didn't believe she had.Scott bent over to the ground, holding his bleeding nose as he groaned in pain."Why would you hit him like that? Are you out of your mind?!" Astrid yelled furiously, hitting Rowan's chest as she ranted."I should be the one asking you questions! Why would a married woman be with another man and kiss right before her husband's eyes?!" He roared, grabbing Astrid's arm roughly."You are crazy! I guess you are too mental to remember that we are divorced, you animal!" Astrid screamed back."Divorced? just because I let you mess around as you wished doesn't mean that you can dive into another man's arms. You think we are divorced?" he scoffed as she glared at him. "You must be really stupid to think that I would sign those pathetic papers and s
Astrid rushed over to the hospital with the help of Scott who drove her down to the medical center.she ran to the emergency center and met her Mom standing outside the theatre with tears in her eyes."Mom, how is he?" Astrid asked, her voice shaky and broken. Tear flowed down her eyes as she embraced her Mom."I don't know, he is currently having an emergency surgery. He was fine this morning before he left for work. I am scared, baby. What if he does not wake up? I can't lose your Dad forever," Ava cried, holding her daughter desperately."He will be fine Mom, he won't leave us. I trust him because he is strong," Astrid sobbed. They cried uncontrollably, trembling under each other's arms while they waited for the surgery to be over.Scott stood by the side, sympathizing with them. He felt sad that such a thing had happened to their loved one.It hurt him to see Astrid cry and hope that the surgery would be a success. After four hours of waiting, Ava finally fell asleep on the side b
