Once it was evening, Astrid summoned all the workers and dismissed them early for the day. They were grateful to her and wished her a good time with her husband.
After they left, She went into the kitchen and prepared his favorite dish. She had a feeling that her husband would be back anytime soon.
However, she had no idea what was waiting for her ahead.
She carefully prepared for him and made sure that everything was in check. Her husband was particularly strict about cleanliness and order.
A little dust could change his mood and make him ignore her for days.
Meanwhile, Rowan, the coldest domineering CEO of the Wade group, sat at the back of his car with a little child in between him and a fair woman.
He had never thought he would meet the woman he once loved at the airport with his own child.
After his private jet landed in Los Angeles, he thought of going back to his grandmother's house first before returning home.
But he saw her, standing by the exit of the airport. The very woman who had left him yet his heart longed for her after her disappearance.
When she had told him of his son, he couldn't believe his ears and saw the resemblance of the child.
Now, he was bringing them home. His grandmother's call from earlier made him feel glad. As her wish for a great grandchild was finally granted.
As for his wife, he knew that she would accept them regardless of anything. To him, she was foolishly kind and that was why he had not divorced her yet.
She had tied him down with a marriage that he did not want. The least she could do now was accept whatever that he desires.
Once his driver arrived at his home, he carried his son out of the car and went up to the front door of his house.
Astrid who was waiting for him, rushed over to the door to welcome him home. She thought of different ways to greet him but when she opened the door, she froze at the spot. Unable to utter a word.
"Move aside," her husband coldly said and her heart deflated like a punctured balloon.
It was after he muttered those cold words to her that she realized that her husband had brought two foreigners home.
"Rowan," she finally got the courage to call his name. She demanded an explanation, the woman who brought home, she recognized her.
When her husband was passing through hell because of this woman, she had watched him with a heavy heart and offered him her shoulders even though his pain was for another woman.
This woman was no other than Victoria James, her husband's childhood sweetheart. A slender woman with black long hair and eyes as brown almonds.
She had a bright smile on her face as she walked into the living room, observing the entire place with keen eyes.
"Hello, you must be Rowan's wife. Please take good care of me and your husband's son," she blurted out and Astrid's eyes darted to her husband.
Yet, he tried not to explain anything to her instead he said,“Prepare a place for them to stay."
He walked coldly walked away and all Astrid could do was clench her clothes and blink away the tears that formed in her eyes. She was too emotional and tender like a fragile glass.
Even at that she tried not to show any form of hurt and acted like everything was fine.
She showed Victoria to her room and went up to meet her husband. They stayed in different rooms but she wished for him to come down for dinner.
Astrid got to his room door and contemplated knocking for minutes before she got the courage to do so.
Once she did, the door opened instantly and her husband stood with his hair wet from the shower and his eyes as cold as ice.
"I...I wanted to let you know that dinner is ready," she managed to say, nervous to her toes.
He pulled her into his room and slammed the door shut. A terrified gasp escaped from Astrid's mouth as he trapped her against the door.
Astrid's heart raced stupidly as his cold gaze scrutinized her.
"What was it you discussed with my Grandmother?" He questioned her and she shrunk against the door in fear.
"Nothing." She refused to talk and he squeezed her cheeks with his right hand.
"I have given you more than you deserve, Astrid. Don't bite more than you can chew because it will give you a bad belly ache. To be clear, don't expect me to have children with you," he sternly said and moved away from her.
Astrid was hurt by his words yet she did not remind him of coming down to dinner before she left his room.
She went to her bedroom, and broke down in tears as her husband's return was nothing but a thorn to her chest. She knew he did not love her but tried all she could to make him see her in a good light.
Yet he had no place in his heart for her. After staying in her room for a few minutes, she went down to set the table.
However, her husband was already in the dining room eating the dinner she had made with his childhood sweetheart.
Upon noticing her presence, Victoria got up from her chair and turned to Astrid.
"Oh, I had to set the table since you were not available. I hope you don't mind me doing so and the food is quite healthy," Victoria said.
She had intentionally set the table just to get on Astrid's nerves but Astrid showed no sign of being offended as her heart was still heavy.
"Next time, let me take care of you," Astrid replied and joined them.
They continued to eat and Astrid watched them crack jokes and laugh. It was the first time she had ever seen her husband so happy. He never looked at her with this much joy in his eyes as he looked at his childhood sweetheart.
All through, she was made insignificant. Her husband was so engrossed in his childhood sweetheart to even notice her.
She picked her food until she couldn't bear to watch her husband anymore. As she was about to leave, the little boy beside her got up with her.
"Please, young Miss, can you take me to my room?" He asked and Astrid turned to the duo whose attention was now on her.
"Yes, come. I will send you to your room," Astrid smiled at the child and took him away from the dining room.
After tucking the boy to sleep, she went back to her room and tried to sleep but her mind kept wondering about her husband and the unwanted guest.
She became to ponder on her actions, whether it was right for her to leave them alone in their own space.
Unable to settle with her thoughts, she got up from her bed and went to her husband's room. She knocked, wondering if he had retired to bed already. A part of her wanted to leave but she was too scared that her marriage would crumble if she let things go as they are.
After standing at the door for ten minutes, she gave up on waiting and turned to leave, but the door clicked open.
"Why are you here?" Her husband's cold voice echoed through the hall.
She smiled within seeing that he wasn't with the unwanted guest.
"I...just wanted to say goodnight. Sorry for disturbing your peace. I will take my leave now," she hurriedly said and turned on her heels to leave.
"Tomorrow, I have an announcemen
t to make. Be up early," he informed her and Astrid returned to her room full of anxiety against tomorrow.
The next morning, Astrid woke up feeling horrible and weak. She was unable to get a wink of sleep after hearing her husband's words last night. She got up early as she always did whatever he was around just to prepare his breakfast. Although, he employed a chef to handle his meals, Astrid wanted to be the one making his meals. After taking cooking classes for a month, she began to take charge of what he ate.Beaming with happiness that he always ate her food, she got the energy to leave her bed and prepare for the day. However, her smile was wiped off when she saw Victoria in her kitchen."Good morning," she greeted with a sly smile that infuriated Astrid."What do you think you are doing?!" Astrid questioned her, her voice now on a high tempo. She walked up to Victoria, and snatched the bowl of eggs she was holding and made a horrible mess."Did I not tell you to let me take care of you? You should know your boundaries Miss Victoria," Astrid cautioned her.Even though her husband we
"I want a divorce." Astrid presented her husband with the document first thing in the morning. She was done with enduring his cold treatment towards her and his stupid decision to bring back his childhood sweetheart into their home.Rowan looked at the document with a frown on his face as he saw no reason why she would bring up such a matter."What do you mean by a divorce?" He questioned her with a stern voice. But Astrid was not having it with him."Are you deaf or something? This is our divorce papers. All you have to do is sign the document and you can marry your ex-girlfriend," Astrid raised her voice at him for the first time and he was taken aback by her sudden change."How can you say such a thing..." Victoria pretended to be hurt but Astrid glared at her."Oh shut up and stop with your drama. I know that you want my husband and I am delightfully handing him over to you," Astrid said. She was flaring with anger and pain as she uttered those words."Astrid!" Her husband thunder
Astrid's secret identity as the mysterious business Guru made countless headlines. A lot of companies reached out to her for collaborations and interviews, but she kindly declined them as she had trusted partners who supported her company to move forward. She was fully aware of the pressure that would follow her reveal in society, but she didn't care anymore as she was no longer the timid and gullible Mrs. Wade, who had no voice of her own.In fact, she wanted to rub it on her ex-husband's face that he had lost a diamond while chasing after a rusty gold. She made a promise to herself that she would never allow anyone to push her around again. As for love, no man would ever be worthy of her affection again.Astrid's secretary, Nelson, walked into her large office holding a list of things she had asked him to research. “Ms. President, I have gotten all the names you requested for. Just as you said, they are all involved in sharp practices," he informed her, and she took note of them.“
Once it was evening, Astrid's secretary drove her back to her family's main house. She had gotten a call from her Mom earlier to come home for dinner. She needed a break as well from the emotional rollercoaster she had escaped from. After her divorce with Rowan, she felt free from the pressuring grip that held her down on the Wade family. Rowan was no good for her, he had neglected her feelings for years and brought his ex to their home regardless of her position as his wife. But she had seen to the end of such treatment by leaving her cold hearted husband. She freely slammed the door of her car and handed the keys to her parents' favorite butler, Mr. Williams. "Welcome home, young Miss. It is so good to see you," he said with a compassionate glint in his eyes. Aside from being her parents Butler and the main housekeeper, he was her second father who took care of her throughout her childhood. He had a daughter the same age as Astrid who was no other than her best friend, Rose."Than
Hello, everyone. This book will be getting massive updates from now on. I am done with my exams and can freely write now. Also, yesterday was my birthday and as a gift from me to you, I will drop five chapters today. Happy reading 😘."What?!" Astrid yelled as she stood up with a force that slammed her chair to the ground. Her parents were startled by her sudden outburst and wondered what made her react in such a way.Her eyes flared with anger as she stared at her phone. Ava quietly dropped her fork and focused on her daughter, curious and worried about her outburst at the same time."Is there something wrong?" She asked, her husband as well had a frown on his face as he patiently waited for his daughter to speak up.Astrid looked up from her phone and softened her furious expression. "It is a business venture that I have been aiming for. But I lost track and some other company is partnering with them,",she lied.If she actually told them what was on her screen, her parents would s
The next morning, Astrid rushed over to her company, skipping her breakfast for an appointment. Her parents were worried about her dedication to her work but she assured them of being attentive to her health. On getting to her company, her secretary, Nelson stood at the entrance ready to welcome her. He stepped forward and opened the car door for her."Good morning, Boss," he greeted.Astrid flashed him a bright smile and responded to his greeting. "Good morning, Nelson. How was your night?" She asked and he flushed red.Even though it was a regular greeting between him and his Boss, Nelson couldn't deny his admiration for her. To him, she was a super woman with great talents, smart and unwavering. Most of all, she was beautiful. It was shocking to hear that Mr. Wade had chosen someone else over her. Nelson now thinks of Mr. Wade as blind and foolish man for making such a choice. The thought of it made him feel so furious. "Nelson?" Astrid called. He snapped out of his thoughts and t
After the day's work, Astrid called it a day. She was satisfied with the outcome of her work schedule being completed, especially the part where she instructed Nelson to blacklist Mr. Harper's company. No one dares mess with her and goes free. The man and his company were thrown into a complete hysteria. Reporters flooded him for an explanation while stockholders who invested in his company rained insults and demanded for their money. The man was a total fraud. Fortunately, Astrid was able to unmask his facade on time. She took her coat and purse and walked out of her office, ready to hit the road back home. "Nelson, I will be leaving now. Take care, and please don't pull an all-nighter. Go home and have a good rest. Oh, tomorrow, don't bother coming to work. I will be spending time with Rose for the day. So take a day off," she informed him before going out of the office. She went down to the underground garage and retrieved her car. "Goodbye, Ms. President," the security officer g
Noah's little sneeze wakes Rowan up from his sleep. It is 7 A.M. in the morning and the little child seems to have caught a cold.Rowan places his hand on his forehead checking Noah's temperature. But he isn't running a temperature. He gets up from his bed, goes down to the kitchen and warms up a bowl of milk which he later transfers to a glass. On his way back to his room, he finds Victoria sitting at the front of his door with her knees bucked to her chin and her arms wrapping around them."What are you doing here?" He growls at her, angry at the sight of her."So now, I can't see my own child anymore? Do you think it is easy for me...." She tries to say but Rowan cuts her off instantly not giving her a chance to complete her words."Noah does not need you to be with me. I should be the one bonding with him and not you. The only reason why I brought you here is for him not to feel lonely and lose his motherly love," Rowan reminds her and she presses her lips into a thin line, frustr
Rose looked down at Minty's hanging hand and chose to ignore it embarrassing her in front of them."I thought this trip was for the three of us? Why did you tag your girlfriend along, Nelson?" Rose grumbled, she was displeased to see his girlfriend for some reason, she didn't approve of her."That's mean, Rose. You...""It's alright, Nelson. You don't have to fight your friends because of me. If they don't want me here then I will leave," Minty said with a low voice, sad by their treatment towards her.She walked out of Rose's house and he sighed, chasing after her.Rose hissed, slamming her hand on the kitchen counter with anger."What is he so dense?" Rose muttered, blinking back her tears.Astrid hugged her shoulders, comforting her from the pain she felt. She knew about Rose's one-sided love for Nelson. And how she pretended to have a boyfriend just to make him jealous. But Nelson didn't see her that way, instead he took her as a friend."It's alright, Rose. Some day he will reali
Remember to vote and comment for more chapters!!!After listening to Grandma Wade last night, Astrid felt better in the morning. She took up her phone and texted Rowan reluctantly. Astrid:*Good morning, don't get this twisted. I am only texting you because of the business proposal your company sent to mine. I read through it and I think it is good. Queen's Croft will like to partner with your company.*She took a deep breath reading her text again, biting her bottom lip nervous about the outcome.Rowan:*Good morning, sunshine. The Wade empire will process the contract signing and get back to your company." he replied, ending the text with a heart emoji.Astrid scoffed at cheeky nickname and the pounding heart emoji he sent. It didn't suit his cold personality. ' He is really taking his words seriously.' she thought as she stared at her phone screen.Meanwhile, little Noah and Chef Gladline are right behind Rowan in the kitchen, making sure he doesn't deliver a cold text since he isn'

Astrid returned to her office, feeling better than earlier. Her discussion with Scott improved her mood and helped her escape from the harsh reality of her work. She tried to bury her mind into the documents on her table. But she had no zeal to focus on it.Nelson, who has been waiting for her in her office to finalize the issue at hand realized that his Boss was still stressed out."is there anything I can get you?" he asked, with concern in his voice."Not really. I just need time. I will get back to you once I am done with the document," she said, dismissing him from her office."Boss, you know you can take a day or two off, if you are beat. I can always take care of the work here," he reminded her.Astrid is a workaholic, and Nelson is afraid that she would overwork herself and suffer a serious break down if she doesn't take a rest."I am fine. You don't need to worry about...""According to new times hospital research, overworking, stress, unhealthy eating and lack of sleep can c
Sitting across the restaurant, a cold glare focused on the men chatting with Astrid.Gilbert, tried to calm his boss down but he was too centered on getting rid of Astrid's company."Sir, maybe it is just a business meeting. Miss Everhart is not the kind to make mistakes like this. Besides, she doesn't seem like the kind to entertain other men," Gilbert claimed. neither is she your wife, boss.At that moment, Astrid said something and the men with her laughed fuelling Rowan's jealousy.Initially, he had a business meeting with one of his partners. And was planning to ask Astrid out on a lunch date when he saw her walk in.He was delighted to see her, however, when he was about to approach her, Scott beat him to it."You have five seconds to find out who those men are and why they are hovering around Astrid," he growled, cracking the wine glass in his hand.Gilbert sighed inwardly, there was no way he could explain to his boss that the men with his ex-wife are not what he thinks they a

Everything was fine when he checked it last nig
After reading Rowan's wooing plans, chef Gladline had no other choice but to assemble the whole household. She tabled the matter, tagging Rowan as the major problem and their target as Astrid."Everyone here is aware of the former Mrs Wade and the young master's current relationship status. Now I have gathered you all not as employees but as commenters. For each of you have three minutes to point out our young master's negative behaviors," Chef Gladline said, getting everyone surprised including Rowan.Noah and Gilbert who were in the background burst out laughing, they earned a glare from Rowan in return and went silent."Don't take this process personally, Young master. I really miss your comments 🥺 and would love to hear your thoughts...it really gives me the courage to give you all the best chapters and know that you all are enjoying my story. Thank you in advance. The next day, Astrid left for her company early with a hot brewed coffee. It was Sunday yet she insisted on going to work, regardless of Rose's pleas. She was still annoyed by the incident that happened yesterday and the only way she could cool off was to bury her mind with paperwork. After checking in with the security officers, she went into the company building. The entire place was empty and quiet and the only sound made was her fluffy flops.Since it was a non-work day, she decided to dress in something casual and comfortable, a purple oversized hoodie and biker shorts. The coolness of her office calmed her nerves, making her less stressed than when she woke up early in the morning.Glancing through the file in front of her,
