chapter six

Five years later 

Ryan was deep in thought in his office after going through some files when his secretary came in. 

“Excuse me, sir, you have a guest,” she said.

Ryan was not in the mood to see anyone at the moment, so he specifically asked her to cancel all his meetings and appointments for the day.his head was still throbbing from his hangover from the previous night.

“I thought I made myself very clear……” he started before Luke casually strolled into the office and sat opposite Ryan.“Give the girl a break dude”.

Ryan, dismissing his secretary furrowed his brows together in annoyance “What the f**k are you doing here don't you have a company to run or something?”.

“Well, so do you. And here you are looking like crap!. Dude, what happened to you? Did you drink a whole bar or something?.you need to get yourself back together”

“I just had too much to drink to stop whining like a little girl”. Ryan said, which earned him a little chuckle from Luke.

‘So how did your weekend go with Isabella, i was going to ask if she treated you well but from the look of things you had other plans with a bar” Luke snickered. “But damn she’s a piece of candy I thought she'd be able to bring you out of this mess but bro I can now see that you are a lost case”. 

“It's not that, I just had a nasty headache during the weekend and wasn't in the mood to do anything, let it go will you.”

‘Right. And it has nothing to do with Valerie huh?”.Luke asked. “look Ryan it's been five years already i think it's high time you moved on already.  Ever since she disappeared and you're still letting it weigh you down”

“Who says it has anything to do with Valerie. Like you said it's been ages and she is in my past now plus it was not a love marriage anyways,” ryan  defended.  

“ If you say so then anyways I'm not too sure you be happy about  information just got to me that the Omega project Lux Inc. is launching will be given to only three companies,” Luke said.

” Okay that's expected lux Inc. will only award contracts to the most deserving companies and We are at the top of the list so what's the issue”

“ well it's the second company we will be working with that you might not like”

 "what are you talking about Luke if you have something to say please make it fast you're pissing me off" 

"Wilson group are also woking on the project so guess who you will be working with"

That caught Ryan's attention

 "Blake f**king wilson How is that even possible there is no way I'm going to be working with Blake Wilson that's son of a bitch is really getting on my nerves",

"I just came to drop the good news and I'll be on my way back to the office I  still have  things to take care of at the office I'll see you over the weekend at the lunch party be sure to come with a date if not our really believe  something is wrong with you"…  with that luke left the  office leaving  him to his thoughtshe

Blake Wilson had always been Ryan's nemesis right from High School ryan  always felt he wanted to steal Ryan's spotlight and now even in the corporate world Lake Wilson was trying to compete with him just wow could this day get any better.Just then Ryan's phone rang it was an email notification on the date and venue  for the lunch party of the Omega Project it was going to mark the beginning of a huge milestone in his career and he needed to give  h best if he was going to Compete with Blake Wilson his personal problems could wait until he had a party to get ready for.

 On getting home ryan  went in and got a cold shower so he could clear his head after the shower he barely had any appetite for food and instructed the maid to clear the table and opted for a simple sandwiched and the glass of wine on his way back to his room his feet stops just in front of valerie's door  summoned courage he opened the door and walked in.

 He could still faintly smell her  everything reminded him of her that was why he asked he made to stop going into Valerie's room it was his little safe haven where he went to think sometimes memories from that night came back from rushing to his head,he needed a distaction, Picking up his phone  he called  the number and on the third ring she picked

 “Ryan I'm quite surprised you called after the way you really dismissed me over the weekend”she said sounding a bit disappointed.

 “Isabella I really had a lot on my mind and I'm sorry for being too. How do you feel about going to a work dinner with me this Saturday? ll try and be a good Sport. My PA candice will get in touch with you so you can get a nice dress and get ready for the party”.

"I'm looking forward to it".
