Meridian Water

The sound of hooves echoed along the road as the carriage rocked us from side to side. We’d left the castle for an urgent audience in a nearby village that rebels had attacked earlier that morning. I was on high alert, eyeing every twist and turn. The Prince wore a closed-off expression, but I could feel his eyes studying me every second.

“If you want, we can stop to rest, Your Majesty,” I said, something telling me it was time for a quick break.

“Are you worried about me, or just trying to dodge this… tense atmosphere?” The prince raised an eyebrow with a sly little smirk.

I took a deep breath. The tension between us was tangible, like a storm about to break. He didn’t seem to be hiding the fact that he was playing along—and deeply invested.

“Your safety is my only priority,” I said, not bothering to hide the sarcasm in my voice. “If we stop, I can check out the surroundings and make sure everything’s safe for us to continue.”

Meridian WaterMOON CELEBRATIONThe first rays of sunlight filtered through the leaves, softly illuminating the room's interior. Deep in the forest, I awoke, feeling a pulsating anticipation in my heart for the day ahead. Rising from bed, I looked out the window, watching the sun rise before me. A special energy filled the air. Today was the full moon celebration, a sacred event for my family. Could it be a sign from the moon goddess?” My eight-year-old brother mocked, grinning.I sat at the table with a smile, but cou

Meridian WaterDarkness enveloped the training room, where I was being trained to serve my king, Fondark Sweeney. My determined look showed my commitment to the rigorous training that lay ahead. All around me, the shadows seemed to come to life, dancing and undulating like strange beings. My instructor Tom watched me minutely, every step I took, every blow I threw, he seemed to always be focused on me and that left me intrigued."You must learn to hunt with precision and efficiency," he said in a deep, enigmatic voice. "Your mission is to protect the kingdom from the threats that lurk in the shadows. This is your purpose as a Huntress."I just nodded, absorbing his words. Meridian WaterToday, Prince Sweeney would be on the east side of Umbra, where he would see how the region is doing and whether the guardians are doing their duty. The journey would be made by royal carriage, where we would stop in at least three areas to rest, as it would be a three-day journey.I had already been serving as his protector for a month, and being constantly on the move as his shadow wasn't difficult, because today would be the first time he would actually sleep outside the royal house. I had studied every spot where we would stop, assessing each necessary escape point in case of a riot attack.Rebel demons who didn't respect royalty.I fulfilled my basic needs and put on leather pants along with a crop top, adding my dagger to my waist, and two other small daggers inside the leather boots that went up to my knee. In two years, although I had slept with many men, I never had time to play on a mission, especially when that mission was to protect the prince and the target of my thoughts was the PRINCE.I ignored the excitement that invaded me when an image of his bare chest came to my mind, and decided to see what there was for us to eat. Pork bathed in blood and a glass of what were probably tears. Yes. Dark wizards often feed on human suffering, tears of bitterness are one of the most served cups at parties and public places. Nothing new under the shadow. When he came out of the room wearing only soft cloth pants and no shirt, I almost wanted to get out of there. The environment seemed to acquiesce quite quickly, and although we were already living together, doomed to hell, the heat of that body under my vision was much more threatening. His w

When he phrased it like that, it felt like I existed solely to fulfill that one purpose.“What do you mean, you couldn’t pull off something so simple?” he asked in an accusing tone, though the irony and disdain in his voice were unmistakable.“I’m just saying it’ll take more time,” I said, avoiding his gaze.I could’ve told him everything was going according to plan, but something held me back. Then it happened… I took a couple steps backward, and that’s when I heard it.“Did you do what we agreed on?” the King asked, his voice laced with something like disdain.“It wasn’t that simple, Father,” the Prince replied, sounding tense, like he was doing something against his will.“How so? Meridian WaterBack in the Kingdom of Umbra, I finally felt that familiar comfort of being home once more. The return went down smoothly—totally different from the outbound trip and the ambush that still echoed in our thoughts. On the way, we kept it professional, even though our gazes crossed now and then, hinting at the sexual tension that still lingered between us.Arriving at the Kingdom, the relief was obvious. We walked the palace corridors, me trailing behind the Prince, and I could spot a subtle tension in his face. It got me curious, wondering what was going on in his head. There was a slight smell of suspicion in the air, but I couldn’t pinpoint its source. For a few seconds, something inside me stirred but quickly went back to sleep. As we neared the meeting hall, the nervousness on the Prince’s face became more apparent. Stepping inside, the nobles’ murmurs and chatter died away, like everyone was eager to see how our mission had gone. My heart pounded unevenly, even thoug

Everyone seemed caught up in a celebratory mood, but between the two of us, there was a palpable sexual tension hanging in the air.I did my best to appear focused on the other conversations around me, fulfilling my duty as his protector. Yet inside, I was burning. The image of him tangled up with those other women refused to leave my mind, setting my most private thoughts on fire. While jokes echoed and guests enjoyed the feast, our eyes would meet across the crowd. The game of seduction between us was as subtle as it was dangerous. As I greeted the nobles and servants present, I watched his expression—serious and impenetrable—taking in everything and everyone around him, until he finally settled into his armchair. While scanning the room, I felt lustful stares aimed my way, but I chose to ignore them. Jokes, off-color comments, and feeble attempts at flirting reached my ears in hushed tones, and I merely smiled discreetly and shook my head. I kept moving across the room, eventually positioning myself in the far corner, eyes fixed on the Prince. Our gazes locked—his, narrowed and watchful. Four naked women approached him, surrounding him with their dark, seductive presence. I suppressed a sigh of boredom, knowing full well I could deliver a far more unforgettable experience. While the women continued their performance, I discreetly picked up a glass filled with a liquid practically dripping w
