"Alice is safe," I said immediately.

And with that, I managed to calm Bianca down for a few minutes while I accessed the company's security system and erased the hallway recordings. I had been careless in my office, but at the same time I had been efficient.

I had to tell her that Alice was safe in order to negotiate with her.

She would accept no other explanation when I had tacitly assumed I knew Alice. I knew what battles I could lose and win, and that was one I didn't want to fight.

After that, we went down to the bunker because my office wasn't the safest place to talk about that subject. I had had to lie in the pack, say that Alice was undergoing medical treatment due to a rare illness because of her half-breed status so that everyone who knew her would stop asking questions. So every time I asked about it, I would say that she was in recovery and that she would be back in the pack soon.

Practically everyone knew it was my mate, so they didn't give the matter much thought
