Chapter 1

"What's wrong with walking with my barefeet?" I asked to no one in particular.

I stared back at the people who's looking at me with some weird expression on their faces.

"These people are so close minded. They should live a little." I said as I shrugged and kept walking on the grass not minding those looks that they are throwing at me.

With my shoes in my hand I stopped walking, closed my eyes took a deep breath and savoured the sun kissing my skin.

It is a new day and I just wanted to start it with the thing that can make me happy. Mother nature.

Ever since I can remember I always wanted to be out on nature exploring and loving the feeling I get when I'm surrounded by the beauty of it. The feeling of the grass in my skin makes me calm and even breathing the smell of flowers, trees, grass and even soil just makes me happy.

I know that I may look really weird right now for the other people who are also here in the park, seeing a girl walking barefooted. They might even think that I'm crazy but I don't care. This brings me joy and that's all that matters.

I decided to spend my free time here in the park to brace myself for the stress that I'm gonna get for the next days or should I say semester. Because it'll be a battle. This would be my last semester until I graduate from College.

I shook my head. I should stop thinking about it for now, I'm here to relax and calm my nerves for a bit before I go back to reality.

I sighed and placed a smile on my face and walked towards the ice cream vendor under the big old tree.

"Hi!" I chirpped as I approached the ice cream seller.

"Good morning ma'am!" He answered back cheerfully. I smiled at him.

"What are the available flavors?" I asked

"We have mango, chocolate and strawberry flavor ma'am."

"Ahmm.. okay I'll have one of each please."

He nods and get to it. He handed me the ice cream in a cone and after paying him I decided to seat on one of the benches. I placed my shoes just beside my feet and enjoyed the ice cream while looking at the people who are busy walking to their work.

My phone suddenly rang and I fished it out from my bag. It was my best friend Alex calling.

"Hello?"

"Hello your face! Where are you Zel? Why aren't you replying to my text messages?" He snapped from the other line.

I pulled my phone away from my ear and checked the notification bar and saw that he had indeed texted me 11 times.

"My bad, my phone is in my bag." I said sheepishly as I finished what's left on my ice cream.

I can imagine him rolling his eyes from my excuse.

"Ugh. Whatever. Where are you now? I went to pick you up in your dorm but you already left." He still sound annoyed a little.

"Ohh how sweet of you Alex, but I went to the park and ate some ice cream." I simply answered.

"And let me guess walking with barefeet again?" I swear I can see him rolling his eyes again.

I just chuckled as a reply. He knew me too well.

"I knew it! Alright, just get your ass here in the Uni now you're gonna be late." He scolded me like he always do.

"Okay MOM. I'll be on my way." I teased.

"Whatever Zel, take care, love you." He  chuckled.

"Love you." I answered back with a smile.

We ended the call and I wore back my shoes and hurried to the Uni. It's just a 5 minute walk from the park so I reached the Uni in no time.

As I walk through the hallway all I hear is the people chitchatting.

I let out a sigh.

This is what I don't like in school. Especially if it's the first day of another semester. The hallways would be full of students who seems like they haven't seen each other for a year. But all I know they are just talking about where did they spent their vacation, what brand new designer bags and dresses they are wearing and of course the never ending gossips.

I shaked my head and tried not to get annoyed at my surroundings and walked my may to the bulletin board. I searched for my name on the Nursing Department. I had a bit of difficulty finding it because there are still some student blocking my way so I just waited for them to finished finding their names too and when they are done I took a step forward and searched for mine.

I grabbed for my notebook and pen when I found my name and wrote my class schedules, it's better to have a copy immediately just in case.

While writing, some girls who's standing not far from me started gossiping again and I unintentionally listened to their conversation.

"Did you know, that there's two new transferries here in the Uni? And guess what? They are drop dead gorgeous!"

"Really!? OMG. I can't wait to see them!"

"Oh I already saw them. And yeah. They are so hot!!"

"But I thought that there's three of them?"

"That's what they said, but I only saw the two of the hottest guys I've ever seen in my entire life, earlier."

Ughh. That's too much exaggeration.

Shaking my head I stopped listening to their conversation and focused on writing my schedule.

It was just another unnecesary gossip. I thought it might be something useful.

I mean it's just about guys. What can they gain from that?

Handsome? Hot guy?

What's new?

We already have a lot of good looking guys in this University, what's the difference does it make?

I don't want to sound so feminist and a man hater but it is just annoying to hear that everytime from these Barbie girls.

After I'm done I just decided to go to my first class.

I was checking my phone when suddenly someone bite my shoulder.

"Owww!!! " I cried out.
