104. Soothing darkness

“It worked, Jamie.” Aiden’s eyes crinkled at the edges as a bright smile spread across his face. After having spent the better part of the night trying to find a cure, it was evident how relieved and pleased he was with himself when he finally found success. “The antidote we administered, it was the right one. She had shown drastic improvement in the past few hours.”

“She’s awake now?” Jamie asked, his eyes eagerly looking toward the room she was resting in.

“She is, yes.” Aiden nodded. “She is asking for you. Go ahead.”

Jamie muttered a quick thanks before he slowly started making his way towards her. A peculiar feeling crept up his chest, a sort of hesitance holding him back. It was not the first time he was seeing her, but the nervousness he felt was rather apparent. In a way, he was scared to face her, for he had no idea how this was going to go. She did tell him that it wasn’t his fault, but he couldn’t help but worry about her reaction.
