107. All there is to it

The full moon was out that day, shining in all its glory against the canvas of the night sky. Its luminance pierced through the glass window, being the only guide to them in the room. Jamie had his arm wrapped around her, holding her back close against his chest. Tucking his chin under her head, he was about to close his eyes when he felt her shift in his arms. His eyes searched for her in the darkness, curious to know if she too, like him, was struggling to fall asleep.

Her eyes were wide open, looking at him intently, confirming his suspicion. She couldn’t fall asleep either.

“Can’t sleep?” He asked, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

She shook her head, “I can’t stop thinking about what you told me.”

“It’s a lot to take in at once, I understand.” He said, “But it’s all in the past, Emma. I’m no longer that person who wants to avenge my sister’s death. I’ve grown past that.”

“And I’m glad,” She said, “But what I can’t understand is how it even got this far.”
