“There are some parents who sell off their children to the coven. It is absolutely normal in my region, some of the children are orphans who wandered and got caught, and some stolen. Some of them get inducted into the coven. Some with disabilities are sacrificed,” I replied, feeling detached.

“Was your mother also into this practice?” he sounded angry and I don’t blame him. Maybe he will start to hate me now and cast me out too. But it felt better talking to someone about it.

“Yes, Dane. Parents bring their unwanted children to be sold whether the coven wants them or not. My mother suggested to the council to start inducting them into the coven instead of just killing them off. I suppose that was her way of trying to save them,” I said and let out a sigh.
