Chapter Seventy-seven (Dane's POV) Present Time

We compromised and she wore one of the hoodies that were a size bigger — not that it helped in my opinion. But I tried not to be an ass about it and assisted her instead. She interlaced her fingers with mine, burrowing into my side as we made it back downstairs.

We found the guardians in the kitchen as expected: a few were sitting on the tall-stand stools by the wide top, marble-covered worktable while the rest stood about, eating steaks from ceramic plates. Anastasios Martas wasn’t present of course neither was Evanore Cinnabar Thornheart. I silently hoped Anastasios Martas was able to do something to help her.
