A groan escaped my lips as another wave of pain and nausea hit me. I felt like crying, screaming away all the pain.
I was about to open my eyes when sudden fragments of foreign memories rushed into my mind, swamping my brain like a tidal wave.
Whose memories are these?! Wait, am I even alive? More foreign thoughts began to fill my head.
An abandoned castle. A beautiful woman with long platinum blonde hair and emerald green eyes holding a tiny baby who was swaddled in warm blankets, while looking out the window all day long, missing her husband who never visited her even once.
Wait? What kind of fucked up thoughts are these?!
Another wave of pain washed over me and I felt myself lose consciousness once again.

When I opened my eyes again, I expected myself to be in a hospital room. I thought I was going to die after getting hit by that blasted truck.
Turns out... I didn't die. I've heard that wicked people live longer. Considering my personality, I guessed that statement was true after all.
I was quite pissed off that I had to delay my vacation due to this sudden incident. But there's no use crying over spilled milk, and I guess those children were safe.
I slowly opened my eyes, but instead of the usual white walls of a hospital room, I was greeted by a beautiful lace canopy hanging above my head. My eyes fell on the wooden posts that kept the bed together and I realized I was lying on a huge and soft bed, covered by a warm lavender quilt.
I was dumbfounded. It was the first time I had ever seen everything so western-inclined and old fashioned except in a movie.
"My lady, you're awake!" Someone suddenly shrieked next to me.
I turned to the voice and I saw a middle aged woman wearing a strange frilly maid uniform sitting next to me while holding my hand with teary eyes. I furrowed my brow in confusion.
Judging from her features, she was obviously not korean. She had greyish light brown hair and warm brown eyes, which looked curved.
I could've sworn that I'd never seen this woman before, but why was everything so familiar to me? This was so strange, everything was so strange.
Why was I not in the hospital? Am I being kidnapped?
I've heard some crazy fans can do something so extreme towards their idol such as stalking, kidnapping, and even attempting murder. But, such a case never happened to me before because my old company was very strict about their artists safety and eomma always took care of it, especially since I was the top star in the company. But now...
My heart pounded uncontrollably at the possibility of being kidnapped. I wanted to escape. But my head hurt too much to do anything.
"My lady, please don't push yourself. You still have a fever."
The woman's expression showed that she genuinely cared about me which made this situation even more bizarre.
Then a sudden intense emotions and memories came rushing back to me and I sat up with a start, frightened.
"E-Elle?" I unconsciously mumbled the name.
"Yes, my lady?" That woman answered.
Wait. How did I even know this woman's name? This is madness.
She took a cup of water from the bedside table and handed it to me.
"You have been sleeping for two days due to high fever. I was so scared, my lady."
Fever?
It didn’t make sense. I was pretty sure that I was in a car accident. So, how could I didn't even spot any external injury? Was it just my imagination?
No, the pain I felt when that damn truck bulldozed over my car felt too real to only call it a mere imagination.
I glanced at the strange woman with a cautious look. I didn’t know what to make of this absurd situation, so I just gulped down the water. I didn't realize how thirsty I was until then.
The woman smiled at me like a satisfied mother when seeing her child eat well, which made me feel even more uncomfortable.
"You must be hungry after not eating anything for two days. I'll prepare some food for you, my lady. In the meantime, please rest," she took the empty glass from my hand, then excused herself. After she was gone, I took in my surroundings and looked down at my hands. Then a frightening realization dawned upon me. They weren't my own.
It looked similar in terms of shape and skin color, but strangely it felt so foreign. I didn’t know where the hell I got this strong hunch that it wasn’t my own.
What is going on? Is this a nightmare?
I tested out by moving my fingers and then pinched myself to make sure that I wasn’t dreaming. It hurt. This wasn’t a dream.
At that moment, my hands flew to my hair and my eyes widened when it finally caught my attention that my hair was platinum blonde instead of black.
A frightening thought that I was kidnapped suddenly came back into my mind.
Gosh, what kind of pervert dye their victim's hair when they're unconscious?
I was on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Seriously, what's going on? Did I really get kidnapped? Or was this some sort of game? Hidden camera, perhaps? I twisted my head towards the corner of the room, trying to find cameras. But there was none in sight.
It was then, when I had unconsciously begun trembling in the bed, full of anxiety. My eyes darted around the room once again. Still no cameras. As I tried to figure out what was going on, I spotted a body sized mirror near the dresser.
I need to check it.
I felt dizzy as soon as I stood up, but I also needed to make sure for myself. I had a really bad feeling.
I staggered to my feet, trying to drag myself in front of the mirror.
The moment I faced myself in the mirror, my breath got caught in my throat and I almost screamed in horror.
Instead of Cho Sarang's trademark long and thick black hair with doe hazel eyes, what greeted me in the mirror was a ridiculously beautiful woman wearing a white vintage nightgown that I often see in a western historical movies. The woman had long platinum blonde hair that fluttered down to her waist, long lashes shading a pair of exquisite and vibrant purple eyes that looked like precious jewels. She had skin as white as snow, lips as red as roses, naturally blushed smooth cheeks even without putting on anything with perfect, delicate and elegant features. If I could find a suitable term to describe this woman, it would be something like an angel or a celestial being.
Wait? Purple eyes? How could someone have purple eyes? Is this even real?
I tried to touch my eye to check if it was a contact lens or not, but poked myself instead.
"Ouch, that hurts," I grumbled.
"It's real," I mumbled to myself.
But her looks were definitely out of this world.
This woman was beautiful rather than pretty, unlike Cho Sarang, she looked docile rather than arrogant.
It was like I was looking at the Goddess who was overflowing with decadent beauty. It was so unreal. But then, I remembered that this situation itself was already unreal and I almost laughed at myself.
I noted that this woman was quite petite and had a similar frame to mine, but she seemed younger than me. I moved my hand to my face and touched her cheeks. I once again shocked myself at how soft it was. This woman had really got it all, it was so unfair.
This was kinda ridiculous coming from me - who spent most of my life in the entertainment industry. I encountered many beautiful women, and I was one myself.
But this face would put Cho Sarang to shame. Gosh, I'd look like a squid next to her. I'm ashamed!
It was a hard realization for me as I'd lived for twenty five years praised for my beauty.
But seriously, I had never seen anyone more beautiful than this woman. Not in Korea nor anywhere else. Even those Hollywood actresses could not compare.
I only stopped admiring my face when a realization about this bizarre situation hit me once again and my hands flew to my face in terror and disbelief.
No matter which way I looked at it and how much I wanted to deny it, it became apparent that this wasn’t a dream, nor reality, but a situation within a novel.
I’m in a fucking w******l!
Heavy anxiety and confusion struck me at the realization. I could’ve never imagined this situation at all. I clearly remembered being hit by a truck, and then...
Damn, is the truck a dimensional portal or something? Why do people isekai into shitty novels after getting hit by a truck?
I took a deep breath to avoid myself from hyperventilating.
After pondering for a while, I came to the conclusion that this is what it meant to be 'transmigrated'. It was very common in novels these days.
While reading about it, I had imagined something like that happening to me. But that was it, an imagination, nothing more. It was just wishful thinking when life became tough. I had only wished for it when I was young and naive and innocent. I never believed it could actually come true.
There might be a time when I used to imagine having a strange creature as my imaginary friend, or a magical fairy as my partner, or being chosen to save the world or jumping into a virtual reality to be some sort of a hero. But I am 25 years old. I am too old to wish for things like that.
Goddamnit! I might have said that I love fairy tales, but that doesn't mean I want to be sucked into one!
I took another deep breath to calm myself. I needed to think and focus to organize my thoughts. If this body's memories were right, then I was currently in the body of Belladonna Reigna Astaseul, one of the characters from the novel I read last night.
Shit, it was truly her. Platinum blonde hair, purple eyes, and God-tier beauty. That Belladonna!
The main villainess, the crazy witch who died a miserable death after attempting a coup d'etat to seize the throne and avenge her mother. Yes, in this world magic existed.
Bella's mother, Meredith Jane Aurelia was a Princess from a neighboring country before she married Emperor Frederick and became his Empress. It was a political marriage, but Meredith fell in love with the Emperor at first sight.
Even though the emperor didn't feel the same way, they remained courteous to each other. They were a couple with a good relationship.
But suddenly the Emperor took in Sophia, a poor baron's daughter who worked as a maid in the imperial palace, as his concubine. Sophia claimed to be pregnant with the Emperor's child, and at that time, Bella wasn't even conceived yet.
It seemed like Meredith, whose position was threatened, couldn't just sit around and do nothing. But it was clear that fate wasn't on her side.
Interestingly enough, the emperor and empress already had a couple's relationship and Bella was the fruit of the couple.
Unfortunately the emperor wasn't interested in his daughter at all, especially after all the evil deeds that Meredith did to his beloved Sophia and their child. Meanwhile, Meredith spent the whole day in tears, missing her husband, and in the end, died miserably when Bella was only six years old.
Honestly, when I read that sort of background story, I wouldn't have thought of villainess, but rather some sort of unfortunate female lead… but that’s not what’s important right now!
Growing up without parental love, Bella ended up twisted and committed herself to all sorts of shady actions. She wanted to take revenge on her father who abandoned her and her mother.
But of course she was defeated by the main character and the heroine.
The crown prince, Alistair Calder Astaseul was her half brother and the hero of the story.
In the end, Belladonna was ruined and sentenced to death for her crime by the age of twenty.
"Your evil deeds will come to an end now, Belladonna Reigna Astaseul." Those were the last words the hero said to Belladonna.
What a cheesy line to say.
It was uncreative. Really uncreative. It was a typical line of a hero from a children's storybook. I cringed so much when the hero reiterated lines that only characters from a moldy, third-rate hero novel would say.
I probably should have stopped reading trashy novels by now.
I sighed tiredly.
Gosh, I still can't believe I became that crazy woman!
I pondered for a moment. If those memories served me right, my new body was currently seventeen years old. That meant I only had three years left before the tragedy.
Am I going to die?! Again?
I suppressed a scream. Why couldn't I just be reborn as a baby? How does this reincarnation even work anyway? Why did I become a character in a novel?
And a villainess?! I know I wasn't a saint in my past life, but a villainess, really! Do I seem that evil?
I scowled at myself. Was that her role now? To die again? I had just died this morning in an accident for God's sake. And now I'm destined to die again. Dead!
No... I don't want to die. Who's that crazy to want to die again after experiencing it once?
I shook my head frantically. No, I will not allow this! I will live my life to the fullest this time!
But first, I need to figure out the current situation I was in as ‘Belladonna’ and make a plan to ensure my survival.
That night, after convincing the worried Elle that I was alright and wanted to sleep early, I bid her goodnight and was finally left alone in the room. The moonlight shone through the cracks of the slightly opened curtains, illuminating the room.I sat in front of the desk and contemplated my new life, trying to come up with a plan to survive in this completely a whole new world.I grabbed a quill, or I don't know, this? Their pen?"Shit," I cursed when the ink splattered on my hand.Gosh, I wondered how people could write using this thing.Anyway, I had to make do for now so I di
For the first few days, I still thought that I was hallucinating or dreaming since I was in an accident. However, the reality betrayed my expectations. Nothing changed even if I slapped myself, cursed the author or cried all night I tried everything I could come up with, thinking everything was just a dream. I, who never practiced any religion in my past life even tried to pray to God, then I prayed to Budha. Neither heard or answered my prayers, so I got creative. I prayed to Zeus, and Hades, and then Morpheus, Isis, Diana, Freyja. None answered. So in the end, I had no choice but to accept this as reality.
Time flies.A little more than a month had already passed since Alistair stumbled into the Lily Palace and met his half sister, Belladonna.Alistair had visited her a few times since then under the pretense of falling in love with her beautiful garden. But still, he couldn't figure her out.His forgotten half sister. It was completely unexpected, but since she somehow appeared in front of him, he couldn't help but be curious. The moment he faced the princess who barely reached his chest as she shone her amethyst eyes at him, a part of him was shaken.'... She's different from what I've expected.'B
It was already evening when Alistair finished his sword training. Instead of taking his time on the training grounds like he usually does, he went to bathe and changed his clothes into something more grand than his usual indoor clothing.Perhaps Alistair's appearance left quite an impression, that Alfons, the butler of Star Palace asked his master if he was going to see his mother, the empress."No." He answered without changing his expression. "I'm going to Lily Palace. Prepare some chamomile tea leaves and any kind of dessert with chocolate flavor, I'm going to take it there."Even though the butler was concerned about his master spending more time at Lily Palace, he knew better than to question his decision. So like the obedient butler he was, he just did what he was told
My relationship with Alistair improved a lot since our first meeting, and he had visited regularly since then. We even had a tea party yesterday.I don't think he trusts me yet, but at least he doesn't hate me.Well, don't get me started about his appearance. I don't think I'll be immune no matter how many times I see that face. He'll still look like a Greek God to me, it was so unreal.Come to think of it, the crown prince was said to be admired not only for his gorgeous face, but also for his power in the empire. The crown prince at the frontline. I thought I could only see the situation in a drama.Since the frontline is literally the first place to face the enemy, most emperors or soon to
The usually composed Alistair looked murderous while walking towards Lily Palace with a sense of urgency. After Osiris told him what was happening there, he felt something tugging at his chest. So he didn't even think twice when he ordered Osiris and his guard to come with him to Lily Palace. He knew he was being emotional right now which is not like himself. But he couldn't deny that a month he had spent with Bella made him experience countless new emotions that he didn't know he was capable of feeling. It was the first time that he felt the urge to protect someone so badly.‘How many years did she have to endure it by herself? She must have suffered a lot.’ Alistair thought with
It's been two days since I started living in Star Palace. I spent the first day resting and sleeping, which I admitted I really needed. For my moving gift, Alistair bought me a whole new closet and jewelry. He even appointed a dozen new maids only for me. Isn't he spoiling me too much?Elle had already recovered since I healed her with my healing magic. She was very excited when she saw the gift that Alistair bought me, even more than me. She told me that her dream was to dress me up in nice and luxurious clothes that befit a princess, and that dream could finally become reality. Why do you have such a shallow dream, nanny?
A pair of amethyst eyes stared down at me coldly. His mouth formed a thin line as he watched me being dragged to the center of the plaza. Not an ounce of mercy could be seen in his expressionless face.A beautiful woman with long reddish brown hair and emerald green eyes was standing beside him. It was really a sight to behold. The male lead and the heroine. And here I was, the pitiful villainess that would soon meet her end. I could neither move nor scream as the executioner forced my head to stay still under the guillotine. It happened in a flash. My eyes still transfixed at those amethyst eyes that mirrored mine as the cold sharp blade cut down my neck, separating the head and the body.
"My lady, aren't you excited that we'll finally be going back to the capital?" May asked me cheerfully as she put the last luggage on the wagon. It was finally the day of our departure. Everyone seemed to be rejoiced by the fact that they could finally see their loved one back at home. But me, I would have a lot of things to sort out as soon as I was back. So I was restless.I’ve been thinking a lot about this and as a result I barely got any sleep last night."Hoahm… Yeah."I stretched my arms as I yawned while gazing at the beautiful jewel-blue stream in front of me. The water seeping and snaking smoothly past all obstacles. Twigs twirled on its murmuring surface, little messengers from the moun
Once we officially received not only the white flag from Soma’s army, but also the official declaration of surrender bearing the seal of their king, it was only then that we could truly enjoy the celebration.Everyone who’d participated in the war was saying that it felt like a dream, that everything had been one big, happy, continuous dream ever since the day of the miracle. Which naturally brought their attention back to me, and they’d run to express deep gratitude yet again. I’d try to hide behind Alistair or Osiris who usually only chuckled at me, or even Isadore sometimes, but he’d usually thwart my plans and step aside while exclaiming, "It’s all thanks to you, princess!", so I stopped doing that. And now for the last big celebration, aside from our own personnel, we even invited some o
"You put that curse on me?" I asked, now wary of the God. "Are you saying that you're the one who started this whole tragedy slash drama slash misunderstanding?""Not on you directly, but yes, I did," he had an obvious guilty expression plastered on his beautifully majestic face."Gosh, I swear if you're not a God, I'd have choked you to death already," I snarled viciously."It was never my intention to make your life miserable," he replied, ignoring my harsh words."Sure, like I'd believe that," I said mockingly while rolling my eyes at him. "But carry on, my lord."The God let out a deep sigh before he continued. "I used to be an obnoxious God
"Belladonna.""Nana.""Nana."I woke up, startled. I had heard my name being called again and again. I opened my eyes."Lord Arche?" I was about to get up but my head was ringing, I felt dizzy."Are you alright?" Lord Arche asked.I squinted to look at him, because my head hurt. But I propped myself up slowly. "I am fine now.""I'm sorry that you're in pain. I didn't know you would hurt that much when I gave you the blessing earlier," he said.I was about t
"I can't believe we'd get to see this place before we go back to the palace," I told Alistair excitedly as he helped me get down from the horse."You said you want to see this temple, so I thought, why not?" He gave me a cheeky smile which didn’t match his elegant face.Well, anyway, Alistair was completely healed from his injury so we could move on with the schedule.Tomorrow we'd have a celebration party with the soldiers and some of the local lords. Then the day after tomorrow we'd depart to the imperial palace. So we figured if we wanted to see this place, tonight was the best time.At night it was pretty dark and unnoticed, but as Priestess Elena told me, behind the lake, there were signs of a build
"You’re awake," his calm voice really didn’t match the situation right now, so it only triggered my temper to flare up even more."This crazy bastard…" With the rushing anger of wanting to flip this whole shit upside down I wrapped my fingers around his neck and started strangling him. "...is that what you are supposed to say in this situation? Hah… Maybe I should strangle you myself and see if you can finally come to your senses…""Miss Bella, please calm yourself…" Maria tried to pull me from strangling Isadore."What the hell are you saying? Calm my ass! This fucking lunatic really need to be taught a lesson," I snapped at Maria who looked shock at hearing my colorful vocabulary.
When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was the familiar ceiling of the barracks. For some reason, my subconscious expected to see a sterile white ceiling of a hospital, but instead I came across something that was familiar to my eyes, so I felt a bit taken aback....Wait. I’m sure I saw the barracks burn down?I sat up in a flash. Since I just woke up, I hadn’t yet shaken off a dreamy haze, but I quickly looked around and tried to take in my surroundings. The ceiling itself is familiar because everyone uses the same canopies, but the inside structure of the barracks felt strange. It’s more narrow than the previous tent I used with Alastair.I co
"Bella! Did you not sleep well again today?" Osiris asked me with an obvious concern in his voice.I haven't been able to sleep well recently since I had a lot of things on my mind. Especially after Isadore found out about the secret. So, I couldn't help but be on edge even though he hadn't done anything yet.I also couldn't bring myself to tell Alistair. At least for now, since he seemed to be preoccupied with the war. He barely slept in the barrack and he looked so tired. So I didn't want to burden him even more. What was worse was, the horrifying image of the bloodied soldier whom I saw at Isadore's barrack kept haunting me. Then three days ago, I saw someone literally dying and died right before me with my own two eyes for the first time in my life. He was neither
With his body buried deep on the chair, Isadore put his arm on the table. He played with the chess pieces which were standing there as he looked at it with a bored stare.Tuk, tuk, tuk.But he had only one thought in his mind. The crown prince and his Bella weren't blood related and they seemed to develop a romantic relationship.Honestly even without knowing that fact, Isadore already could guess that there's something fishy about them, especially the crown prince. His eyes, whenever he looked at Bella, it wasn't an expression aimed at his sister, but an eyes that were aimed on his favorite opposite sex.He didn't understand why, but somehow the thought of the two of them being together gave hi
