Richard's entire body was shaking terribly. Each breath he drew in was like someone inhaling the sweet scent of bakery. Reverent and hungry, his jaw dropped and I saw the points of his teeth clearly this time. A string of drool dripped from his lips unto his chin with his reflective eyes narrowed in on my arm.
"What?", I gasped disbelieving what I was seeing. Despite seeing all this, l frozen up in place and I couldn't run away. He took a step closer before dropping down into a crouch. My boots kicked at the ground as I attempted to scramble away from him. Alarms were going off in the back of my head that l needed to get away from him but sadly my body was resisting.
Unease weighed me down like a stone and no matter how much I yelled at my limbs to move, they wouldn't move. "You smell so fucking good Scarlett. That must be why I was drawn to you as a kid, your blood smells god-damned delicious", His words made me feel slimy on the side.
Chills wracked my body and I knew it that it wasn't because of the cold. "What the fuck are you talking about? Richard", l had to be dreaming or maybe l missheard what he said. Why was he looking at me like I was his last supper. "The Faraway's little girl smelled good too but not anywhere close to this", His words hit me like a dagger to my heart.
"You are the best thing I have ever smelled in my entire life", His nose flared and his eyes rolled into the back of his head while inhaling deeply. Throughout this whole moment, I was frozen in my place. A new terror unlike anything l have ever felt before washed over me. It was hot like fire and as cold as ice.
It was spearing through every cell in my body and taking hold of my rational thoughts. "P.... please no", I didn't know what he was going to do or what he wanted from me but I wished with all my heart that l wasn't in this situation. Richard was currently crawling into my personal space but I couldn't even do anything.
"I am going to enjoy every bite of you, Scarlett Gomez it's going to feel good when I sink my teeth into your flesh and taste your blood", His body pressed into mine, forcing my back against the hard ground. His leering face and sharp teeth sorrounded by the black sky filled my vision.
My mind short circuited because of the immense terror weighing me down. Another plea for my life died in the back of my throat when Richard opened up his mouth. I couldn't focus on anything other than the appalling sight of his tongue darting towards my arm. His grip was cold and his tongue felt like ice on my skin.
Although my stomach was empty, l wanted to throw up as l watched him lick the blood from my arm. His eyes closed and he made a strangled noise of ecstasy. "This is the best blood l have ever tasted in my entire life, holy shit you so sweet", His delight was profusely abhorrent.
The smile stretching on his face as he sighed at the taste of my blood made me feel sick. I hated the fact that my fear had so profoundly held me up in place. All I wanted to do was to scream for help then run away from him but I couldn't move any muscle. "What the fuck are you Scarlett?", He asked between licks.
"Why do you taste so good?, It's honestly making my dick hard, if I wasn't so hungry l would have fucked you first but damn this is so good to wait any longer", He mumbled then his teeth sunk into my wrist over the gash. That spike of pain from his pointed teeth unleashed the damn holding me back.
There had to be someone on Main Street or somewhere in downtown. My jaw dropped and a blood curdling tore free from my lips. The pain and fear muddled together and I wailed at the top of my lungs. As soon as I did, a fist i'mmediately connected with my jaw. Stars exploded behind my eyes.
More blood welled from my lip over my tongue as I crumbled to the ground. My screams halted as the world around me spun. The one thing that didn't stop was the sensation of a mouth on the gash on my arm. "Please.....", I whispered to the sky, trying to focus past my hazy vision. "Please help",
Goose bumps spread all over my body. I felt a pebble of warmth in my chest and I grabbed hold of that comforting feeling. It was almost like there was a tiny burning sun where my heart was and my instincts shouted at me to grab onto that and wish again. "Help", My voice was barely audible.
The pain in my head from Richard's punch and the gnawing on my arm was sending my mind into a void of darkness. I wanted to let it go, if only to escape the repulsive man and what he was doing to me. He was... He was eating me. In the distance or right next to me, l didn't know anymore.
I heard the shuffle, boots crunching on the gravel , a solid thud then a grunt of pain as a body hit the ground further away from me. I didn't feel the teeth in my arm any longer. With that pain lessened and l managed to find strength to open my eyes again. My lashes fluttered open, blinking through the striking lights and blurred my vision.
Richard's red hoodie stood out. However what caught up my attention was the fact that he was now sprawled out on his back across the street in the grass. A tall dark figure ripped Richard suddenly by the back of his neck, yanking him up onto his knees.
A fresh wave of atrocious fright flooded my system to see the new apparition pummel into the side of Richard's head. He was a shadow of a man, dark and massive. With my blurry vision l truly believed he was nothing more than a damned imagination. The ringing in my ears stopped which allowed me to hear the solid pounding of his fist into Richard's skull.Until the sound of those blows turned into a sickening crunch as Richard's skull caved in. The massive man dropped the body but didn't stop throwing up his fists. Blow after blow until the sound of breaking bone turned into squelching as his fist connected with the raw tissue and meat of whatever was inside Richard's skull. Blood spluttered in a visceral spray across his face but he didn't falter. He continuously grunted out like a beast as he beat Richard's head into a crimson pulp on the street. My eyes refused to listen as I willed them closed. I didn't want to watch this cruel man brutalize Richard. I tried but l couldn't get the

The satisfying groan of that old heavy wooden door swinging open allowed me to take a deep breath. With rush of fresh oxygen to my brain and the door slamming shut behind my back, the intense creepy feeling finally faded away. Lavender and an undeniable sense of comfort settled over me like a warm blanket, replacing the dread instantly. My sight was filled with the warm, rich wooden walls covered in curiosities and oddities that the Great Aunt Matilda Gomez had collected through out her whole life. A taxidermized bat in a dome jar, picture frames filled up with different local insects and dried flowers of every kind were the ones in the house.A smile lit up my face as I remembered fawning over Aunt Matilda's collection every summer. I dropped my bag on the bench in the front foyer and made my way through the old house that always felt like a true home for me.
