A fresh wave of atrocious fright flooded my system to see the new apparition pummel into the side of Richard's head. He was a shadow of a man, dark and massive. With my blurry vision l truly believed he was nothing more than a damned imagination. The ringing in my ears stopped which allowed me to hear the solid pounding of his fist into Richard's skull.
Until the sound of those blows turned into a sickening crunch as Richard's skull caved in. The massive man dropped the body but didn't stop throwing up his fists. Blow after blow until the sound of breaking bone turned into squelching as his fist connected with the raw tissue and meat of whatever was inside Richard's skull.
Blood spluttered in a visceral spray across his face but he didn't falter. He continuously grunted out like a beast as he beat Richard's head into a crimson pulp on the street. My eyes refused to listen as I willed them closed. I didn't want to watch this cruel man brutalize Richard. I tried but l couldn't get the image of red droplets on blonde curls out of my head and the vestiges of a face quickly looking like raw ground meet.
A strangled whimper of distress pulled it's self from my lips. As soon as the frightened voice was out of my mouth, the man i'mmediately stopped. His entire body froze with his fist in the air. His head whipped in my direction and I i'mmediately clenched my legs to stop myself from peeing.
Tears spilled freely from my eyes. My lower lip trembled as I sobbed, because the man rose to his full height and stepped in my direction. I wanted to hug myself, to curl up into a ball and disappear but I couldn't budge an inch. What kind of man had the strength to bash in a skull so easily. He didn't flinch at the sight of brains and blood.
I swallowed over the lump in my throat. At this angle, the man was nothing more than a black silhouette. That was until he crouched down at my level and the distant street light revealed his face. As soon as I had sight of it, it stole all the air from my lungs. Minuscule droplets of blood of the evidence of atrocity he committed dotted his pale golden face.
He stared at me with dark green eyes that held a familiar reflection of the light as Richard's though not so intense. His face was devastatingly handsome and that realization warred with my fear of him. He had spiky dirty blonde hair with a slight curl in the front. His jaw was sharp lined up with a well trimmed stubble.
His nose was straight and every aspect of his features reminded me of a beautifully sculpted god. However while he might have temporarily saved me, he still wasn't God. Unexpectedly his hand shot out and in a blink of an eye this dark stranger, my bloody angel gripped my chin. His powerful fingers were hard as rock as he squished my face, pulling me closer to him.
I felt the blood from my lip pooling on my tongue until it was forced to escape. When blood dribbled down my lips onto my chin and over his fingers , his green eyes i'mmediately widened. His shoulders stiffened and his chest heaved as he took a deep breath. A strangled groan left him as his face twisted into a dark silent snarl.
Those predatory eyes zeroed in on my bloodied mouth. My heart instantly lurched when he leaned forward and closed the gap between us. "You smell so damn good for your own good", His voice was strained and deep. It rumbled through his chest and l felt my blood get hotter at the sound.
I instantly felt as if I was made of a stone the moment when his warm, wet tongue slid over my chin. His hot breath fanned my face and I swallowed hard. My eyes closed as his tongue slipped over my tender bottom lip. He moaned with pleasure at the taste of my blood in his mouth which made my stomach twist into uncomfortable knots.
Then he sucked my bottom into his mouth. I could smell the masculine cologne he wore and the putrid smell of death in the air. Maybe I was dumber than I thought I was because something about him lured me in. Heat spread through my core , from my head to the apex then caused my thighs and my toes to curl in my boots.
His mouth slanted over mine and I unintentionally parted my lips. One moment he was sucking my blood and within a few minutes it turned into a rough kiss. The firm grip on my chin moved and cupped my cheek as the stranger went on with kissing me. I felt the heat of his body emanating against mine causing me to lean closer to escape my internal chill.
He groaned out a sound full of agony , need and frustration. I felt his tongue probing at my mouth and my lips parted more. The kiss deepened and my toes curled. My head was full of clouds which thoroughly distracted me from the pain in my arm and head. Everything was cool until when his tongue flicked over the still seeping split on my bottom lip.
As soon as he did it, he instantly pulled away from me and dropped his hand from my face. The sudden loss of him immediately left me cold to the night air which hit me like a frosty slap to the face. The man leaned back on his heels. An exasperated huff left him as he ran his hands through his hair and over the back of his neck.
It drew me to the sight of him licking the trace of my blood on his lip. "You shouldn't be here sweet blood", His voice brought me fully from my daze and forced me to land back in the reality of my aching body. "Every monster in this town is going to want to take a bite of you , including me", His words froze me more in place.

The dead deer lay on the side of the old country road. The satisfying groan of that old heavy wooden door swinging open allowed me to take a deep breath. With rush of fresh oxygen to my brain and the door slamming shut behind my back, the intense creepy feeling finally faded away. Lavender and an undeniable sense of comfort settled over me like a warm blanket, replacing the dread instantly. My sight was filled with the warm, rich wooden walls covered in curiosities and oddities that the Great Aunt Matilda Gomez had collected through out her whole life. "Am sorry. You will have to forgive me. I don't think that I know you", At my words he finally looked at me again. "Oh! Richard's entire body was shaking terribly. Each breath he drew in was like someone inhaling the sweet scent of bakery.
