Chapter 109: Job seeking

Isabel waited nervously outside professor Clifford's office. She hoped her stalker was not bluffing when he said he could put in a good word for her. She wringed her hands, blowing out a tensed breath.

She checked her wristwatch. It was fifteen minutes already. Perhaps he was bluffing. He stepped out.

"Hand over your bag," he ordered, "you have nothing more than ten seconds to get into his office and begin your test."

With narrowed eyes, she asked, "are you serious?"

He fixed her with a blank stare. "Five seconds."

Then a loud angry voice came from inside, "Ezekiel, shut my door if the student is not prepared!"

Her mouth fell open. She threw her bag at him and raced into the office.

"I am prepared, sir, very prepared," she said hastily. Professor Clifford eyed her up.

"Your time starts now. You have thirty minutes."

She was too much in a daze to notice that she was given half of the usual test time. She looked to the side and found a spare bare desk save for a familiar looking paper
