Chapter 1 The Wedding Night

Author: Rosa Uchiyamana
Felly rose from the edge of the bed when a man in a white shirt entered the luxurious and spacious bedroom. A smile appeared on her lips, welcoming the man who had become her husband since this afternoon.

He was Archer Space Ivander, a handsome man with a Russian-Indonesian face. His height was almost 190 cm. It always made whoever stood near him look shrunk. Archer was well-liked by everyone because of his kind and warm nature.

That was also what made Felly’s love for him ingrained deeply in her heart since years ago.

“Archer, I have prepared a warm bath for you. Do you want to take a bath now?” offered Felly.

She approached her husband with extended arms, intending to unbutton his shirt. Felly wanted to be a good wife for her husband. However, when she had just loosened the first button, her arm was suddenly grabbed by Archer.

“Do you think I marry you for love?”

Felly was startled. Archer’s gaze hardened with his icy tone. The man who usually spoke softly to her with his warm gaze was nowhere to be found.

“Archer … what do you mean? Didn’t you always say you love me, before we got married?”

“And you trust me?” Archer smiled faintly, the smile looked cunning and scary. He moved closer to her slowly, which made her step back immediately. “You are so gullible, Felly. You shouldn’t have trusted me.”

Felly was confused. She shook her head frantically, trying to shake off the dizziness that was creeping into her head. What was happening? Why did Archer suddenly change?

“So, everything was fake?” Felly muttered, “When you were being very sweet to me before we got married this afternoon, everything was an act?”

“Yes.” Archer stopped his steps right in front of her as she was already cornered against the wall. Both his hands were in his pockets.

“I’m not the type to forgive and forget, Felly. My girlfriend became disabled because of you. Do you think I’m willing to love someone who ruined the future of the woman I love?”

Felly froze. Her heart ached when she heard how Archer still blamed her for what had happened three years ago. The resentment was still there. Archer still hated her. Felly felt stupid because she fell for his sweet words and treatments for the past month.

“Then why did you accept this arranged marriage, Archer? Why didn’t you reject it?”

“Because I want to teach you a lesson!”

“Teach me a lesson?” Felly smiled bitterly. “You meant to say, you want to take revenge on me? Is that what you mean?”

“Yes.” Archer lifted her chin to make her meet his eyes. “You have ruined Bella’s future, Felly. Both her hands are disabled and her kidney is damaged because of you. Three years ago, you ran away like a coward. You didn’t even take accountability for what you did,” Archer said coldly.

Felly fell silent. Her fists were clenched at her sides gripping her clothes. She could not deny his statement. Archer was right. She was the one who caused Bella’s disability. The guilt had always haunted her heart for the past three years. Now, Felly even felt embarrassed to face Archer. Ever since what had happened three years ago, Archer despised her. But Felly foolishly fell for the sweet act he showed in front of her parents when their marriage was arranged a month ago.

Three years ago, Felly made a mistake that angered Archer, and he started hating her. Felly accidentally hit Bella, Archer’s girlfriend, with her car. Because of that accident, both of Bella’s hands were permanently disabled and one of her kidneys started to fail. Bella’s dream was to become a famous violinist, but because of her hands, now she could not even play her violin. Forever.

Felly already admitted her mistake and apologized. It was never her wish or intention for the accident to take place. Felly did not understand why Archer was still furious and hated her, considering they were once good friends.

“That is why I came after you, Felly. I don’t like seeing you out here, free to do whatever you please and work on your career as a successful designer.”

Archer’s jaw clenched. His face hardened.

“Meanwhile Bella? Her days are spent to weep her fate. Her hands are disabled and she could not be a violinist like how she dreamed. I think you’re smart enough to know who’s responsible of that.”

Felly closed her eyes when Archer repeatedly blamed her. He kept cornering her, as if she was a villain and the most sinful human being on earth.

“So, what do you want now?” Felly felt a lump in her throat. She gathered the courage to meet Archer’s hateful glare. “Do I have to cut off my hands too, Archer? Is that what you want?”

“You’re a spoiled brat and a coward, Felly. You won’t dare to do that.”

“If cutting off my hands is what you need, then do it. I’m not a spoiled coward you thought I was.”

Archer grunted softly. He pulled Felly near the bed and threw her onto it. Felly scooted back when Archer approached her with an icy glare. It was the coldest eyes she ever saw from the once warm and humble man.

Archer really changed. Felly could not recognize the person in front of her. Aside from his face, which grew more handsome and masculine, his personality also changed. Felly knew, it was her mistake that turned him heartless.

“It is not your hands that I want. It is your happiness.” Archer loosened his tie. “From now on, you’re my wife, Felly. Your freedom is in my hand. I am in charge of it. As long as Bella is unhappy, you cannot be happy.”

Felly was stunned. She knew she made a mistake. The guilt was even eating her up. But did she deserve this kind of treatment from Archer?

“What are you doing? Get away from me, Archer!” Felly scooted back when Archer got to bed topless.

“What am I doing?” Archer repeated her words. His lips twitched. He pulled Felly’s legs closer. “Obviously, I’m trying to give my parents a sweet grandchild from their beloved daughter-in-law. I don’t want to disappoint them,” Archer said in an intimidating tone. His sweet words were very different from his darkened face.

Felly shook her head. “You are my husband, that’s true. But I don’t want to do it with a man who hates me.”

“Unfortunately, you don’t get to say no.”

Felly tried to get away from Archer. Her hands trembled. That man’s gaze was still as sharp as it was three years ago when he had found Bella bleeding on the street. At that time Archer had pointed his finger at her, blaming her for what had happened to Bella that day. Felly and Archer’s friendship was ruined, leaving only hatred.

“Archer, I’m begging you …,” Felly tried to fight back when Archer pinned her to bed. His hand locked her wrists above her head. “Let me make amends another way.”

“Too late for that, Felly.” Archer’s other hand took off his wife’s clothes. “If you wanted to make amends, you should’ve done it long ago. But instead, you ran away like a coward!”

Four years later.“Papa…? Hello? Papa, when will you be home?”Felly sighed heavily witnessing Kimberly—her three years old child with Archer, talking to herself with her baby talk, on a toy phone she pressed against her right ear. Felly felt sorry for Kimberly, seeing how much she missed her father, who was never home for the past month. “Papa …,” Kimberly whined with teary eyes. Felly stopped what she was doing, which was sketching a wedding dress design for her client. She put her drawing book and pencil on the table. She then scooped up Kimberly who was sitting by her side to her lap. “Kimmy, do you miss Papa?”“Yes, Mama. I want Papa.”Felly smiled gently as she caressed the top of her daughter’s head affectionately. “Papa is working, dear. He will be home soon. You need to be patient for a little longer. Can you do that, Kimmy?”Kimberly pouted. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she started crying. Maybe she was upset, because every time she wanted to meet her father, Felly al

Felly frowned. She did not understand his accusations. Between the two of them, he was the one who cheated, right?“My side piece? What are you talking about, Archer?”“Don’t play dumb,” he replied, clenching his jaw. “No matter what happened, you are still my wife, Felly. You need to uphold your husband’s reputation in front of everyone!”To be honest, Archer never forgot his responsibility as a husband in giving her a living. Archer also loved Kimberly and was a good father. The only problem was that Felly never had her emotional satisfaction with him. Felly felt like she was unloved and unwanted. All because Archer had another woman in his heart.“You still don’t know what you did wrong?” Archer asked, pulling Felly out of her thoughts.“I am always wrong in your eyes.” Felly took a deep breath. “I don’t even know what I did now.”Archer fell silent. His gaze darkened. He finally threw two pieces of printed pictures at the table next to them. Felly took those pictures with a frown.

Archer had many reasons to feel uncomfortable in his own home. One of them was what had just happened. Felly always had her way to come up with a retort. Thinking of Kimberly made him feel guilty because he had left her for too long.Archer walked upstairs with a heavy heart. His steps halted when he caught a glimpse of the pictures of Felly and another man on the dining table. Archer turned around and took the pictures. His jaw clenched. He did not like seeing another man carrying his child. Especially Felly’s side piece. He scrunched up both pieces of the pictures to a small crumpled ball. He then threw it into the trash can. Thirty minutes later, Archer had cleaned up and changed his clothes. He went down to the second floor and entered Kimberly’s room. As he opened the door, he was greeted by a yellow night lamp that hit the ceilings in the shape of stars

“Where’s my pony doll, Papa? You bought me a pony doll, right?”Archer immediately fell silent. This was the third time this year Archer had forgotten his promise to Kimberly. Bella. Felly’s hands curled into fists when the name passed her mind, and the carrot in her grip was shaking. All because Archer was too busy taking care of that woman, he forgot his own daughter’s request.“Darling.” Archer’s voice was hoarse. He caressed Kimberly’s hair gently. “I could not find the pony doll in Singapore,” he lied with a tightened throat. “I’m sorry. This afternoon, I will—”Archer’s words were stopped when Kimberly suddenly came down from the chair with pouty lips. Her eyes were teary. She ran upstairs, leaving the dining room.Kimberly was disappointed. Archer was sure of it. His chest tightened, especially when he sa

She regained her smile as she tightened her grip on the pink and blue pony doll. “No, Mama. This is Uncle Ryan’s gift. It’s from Uncle Ryan!” she exclaimed excitedly. Felly could not hide her surprise. “Uncle Ryan?”“Mhm! Oh, that’s him!”Felly’s hazel eyes turned in the direction her daughter pointed. There he was, a man in a gray suit, approaching them with a smile. “Kimmy, have you said thank you to Uncle Ryan?”“Of course, Mama.”“Good girl.” Felly smiled caressing Kimberly’s cheeks. “Now, go keep Aunty Sarah company, alright? She’s alone right now. I want to talk to Uncle Ryan.”“Okay, Mama!”After squealing out the reply, Kimberly ran into the café while hugging her new doll. She dabbed her damp clothes with the tissue from Ryan. “Oh. You must be Felly’s husband.” Ryan stood up. He smiled, extending his hand to shake Archer’s. He tried to be polite to Felly’s husband. “Hello, my name’s Ryan,” he said calmly.Archer turned his gaze from Felly to Ryan’s hand. I told Kimberly to beg for the doll to another man who will become her future stepfather.” Felly smirked seeing Archer’s expression grow grimmer and his eyes darken. “Isn’t that what you want to hear, Archer?”“Apparently, the woman my parents trust is a shameless woman.” Archer gritted his teeth, holding back his anger. “Yes, let’s just say I am shameless. So what? You never cared about my life anyway.”Felly feigned a sweet smile. Both of her hands were fisted and locked above her head. “Ah, right. I just remembered. If having lunch with my client is shameless, then what about your lover, Archer?” Felly blinked, making a feigned innocent face. “She knows you’re a married man, and she’s still seeing you?”Felly’s chuckle filled the room, echoing to every corner. Archer was not sure what to feel when he heard Kimberly. There was a disappointment. His own daughter whom he had been raising, failed to see his effort to give her the best he could. On the other hand, there was a self-hatred. How could he forget what his daughter wanted? Now, she was disappointed in him.Archer sighed heavily while walking downstairs. He called Amy—their maid, who was cleaning a porcelain jar under the stairs. Amy immediately came to him. “Can I help you, sir?”“Prepare ice compress. Bring it to Felly’s room and help her …,” Archer trailed off as he thought to himself. He remembered Felly was naked under the cover, so he changed his mind. Just prepare the compress. I’ll do the rest.”Amy blinked. She was surprised by her employer’s unusual request. During her time working for them, this was the first time he made a request for Felly. Usually, Felly always did everything on her own, even when she was sick. “Okay, sir. I’ll prepare the ice.” Amy excused herself to th

Until that moment, Cecilia had not received it from Archer. "Mama, am I off school again today?" The hoarse voice of her daughter who had just woken up distracted Felly from her thoughts.
