Alexander's POV

The room erupted in chaos as the wooden doors slammed against the walls, echoing the inner turmoil each of us felt. Instinctively, I moved in front of Olivia, a rush of adrenaline surging through me, my senses heightened. The elders and alphas spun towards the source, eyes widening as fear and confusion crossed their features.

A soldier staggered through the opening, his uniform tattered, face pale with exhaustion and panic. “The southern border,” he gasped, struggling to catch his breath. “The wolf packs—they were attacked. Heavy casualties.”

His words hung in the air like a dark cloud, suffocating the room with the weight of their implication. The silence shattered into a cacophony of shouting and frantic whispers. Pack leaders began to argue, pointing fingers, voices rising in agitation and despair. Elder Marcus raised his arms, but his attempts at order drowned beneath the tide of voices.

I glanced at Olivia, standing steadfast despite the storm brewing around us.
