Olivias pov

I left the twins, not bothering to hide the tears that streaked my face; saying goodbye to them was much harder than any battle I would ever face. My heart ached to stay, but the knowledge of what lay ahead fueled my resolve.

Lydia rushed toward us just as we reached the car, her face flushed with urgency. "Olivia! Wait!" she called, her voice piercing the early morning hush.

I paused, turning to face her. Concern mixed with a fierce resolve painted her features. "Lydia, we can't wait too long. It's too dangerous," I warned.

"But I want to come with you!" Lydia insisted, stepping closer. Her eyes were wide, filled with a bravery that mirrored my own. "I can help, Olivia. Please, let me come."

Ethan, who had been leaning casually against the car, frowned. "It's not safe, Lydia," he interjected, his tone firm yet gentle. "We don't know what we're walking into, and I can't let you risk it."
