CHAPTER 5

MiLA’s POV

I was stupefied as I felt the disappearance of the pack link.

“Guards, make sure I don't see her anywhere near the Duskfire Pack, she is now a rogue and a threat to this pack,” Alpha Albert warned the guards and walked away, followed by Arnold and Amanda, who sneered at me coldly.

I quickly ran into the forest when I saw the enforcers coming close to me with deadly looks on their faces.

“Argh! What more do you have for me, Moon goddess?”. I have experienced the worst things ever in the history of my existence since I turned eighteen and met my mate.

Firstly, my father was falsely accused and convicted of betraying the pack, leading to his execution. This act of injustice left a deep cut in my heart, losing my father in such a horrific and unjust manner. The trauma and grief have fueled my anger and somewhat made me resentful towards the yet-to-be-identified persons who framed my father.

Secondly, I was demoted from being a beta’s daughter to the lowest rank in the pack Omega. A significant loss of status and privileges, especially how people perceive and look at me as the lowest Omega of the pack? A colossal fall from grace to grass. I became at the mercy of everyone in the pack, even those who would not dare look me in the eyes before.

Thirdly, I was dragged out of my home to a dilapidated cottage to live in. The feeling was horrible. I once had the soothing ambiance and coziness of a beautiful home, filled with love and happiness.

Fourthly, my closest friend and mate cheated on me and rejected me for another. My world came crashing on me too quickly.I was mocked, insulted, made to do demeaning chores, and practically became the slave of the pack.

Now, I have been sent out of the pack as a lone wolf, a rogue with no direction whatsoever on where I am headed and what will become of me outside the protection of the pack.

“Moon goddess, why have you forsaken me?” I sobbed deeply as I ran out deep into the forest.

Almost as soon as I left the Duskfire Pack border and entered into the deep forest, I felt uneasy like someone was watching me.

"This place is dangerous and we are being followed,” my wolf warned.

I immediately looked behind me and saw two black wolves from afar with brown eyes, staring at me with bad intent while moving towards me.

Immediately, I shifted to my wolf form and ran with speed deeper into the forest for safety against the rogue wolves that were hot on my trail.

Sweat prickled over my skin but I kept running. The more speedily I ran, the more they chased after me. The chase was so intense and I was already feeling weary which made one of the wolves hit me as it came closer.

I stumbled and hit my hind foot on a tree and howled in pain. Immediately I engaged them in battle as they came after me.

The battle was fierce with injuries inflicted on my body from their bites and kicks, but the quest to prove my father's innocence and avenge his death made me resilient as I fought for my life.

One of the wolves kicked me.Growling loudly with pains, I bit it to death, causing the other wolf to flee in fear.

Battered and almost out of breath, covered in wounds with blood dripping out. I persistently walked a few kilometers before coming out of the forest. Walking slowly and growling in pain with every step till I felt the world fading from my eyes.

******************************

"Ouch,” I flung my eyes open in pain and saw myself in a strange room, decorated with vibrant colors of black and blue. I looked around and saw two masculine men standing guard over me.

I wondered how long I had lost consciousness and who had been gracious to bring me here.

"Was I later captured by the other wolf and brought here to be punished because I killed one of them?"

I tried standing up from the bed but the pain from the injuries made me growl loudly and pant for breath.

"Who are you people?and why am I here?” I asked the guards, attempting to discover my whereabouts to seek a way of escape.

No matter what I said, the guards were stoically silent. They just glared at me in silence making me wonder if they were dumb or just keeping mute.

My wounds were roughly tended to, causing me both pain and anxiety, feeling as though death was imminent.

A sense of dread settled in as tears welled up in my eyes, saddened that I would not be able to clear my father's name. The reality of my situation finally dawned on me.

"Moon goddess, if you can hear me. Give me a chance to prove my father's innocence.” I muttered the words in silence pleading to the moon goddess.

I had no intention of sitting idly by, I want to fight to the very end until I can prove my father's innocence. I vowed to myself.

Suddenly, I sense the presence of a strong werewolf. My wolf hollered in excitement as we caught a whiff of the fragrance of his scent.

"We’ve been given a second chance by the moon goddess. My wolf howled in excitement.

I was still contemplating what she meant when the door of the room suddenly opened and I set my eyes on the most handsome man I had ever seen.

A man who stood tall and handsome, exuding an aura of stability and boldness. His chiseled features are framed by a mane of dark, tousled hair falling in waves around his bright face. His darting blue eyes seem to be filled with a depth of wit and wisdom.

His broad shoulders and energetic muscles give away his physical prowess, and his graceful and elegant movement speaks of his powers and authority. His hands were enormous and firm, with fingers seemingly able to caress gently and defend fiercely.

“Why am I feeling the mate bond, has fate given me a second chance mate?
