Chapter 18

Grey

I’m running patrols like normal. The day is beautiful and the trees blocking the sun rays helps keep me cool as I run the perimeter. There has been nothing out of the ordinary for the past year but we keep up the patrols just in case.

I don’t know what happened to the huge threat we heard about but we are not taking any chances. If we ever get Everleigh back we want it to be safe for her. We have taken every precaution we can think of to make sure the past doesn’t repeat itself.

When my patrol is over I nod to the warriors who are about to take over and link them letting them know there was nothing out of the ordinary. Even though I’m exhausted and want to go home to bed I can’t.

There is a nagging feeling in me so I take a run to hopefully get rid of it. It might be nerves or something for the upcoming mission Zay and I are going on in the next few days.

I find our field and walk to my favorite tree and lay down. It’s a beautiful cherry tree in full bloom. The subtle scent it
