Chapter One Hundred: Emily's POV

I sat bound in a dimly lit room, my mind racing in circles as I tried to make sense of the situation.

“Why are you doing this?” I asked, my voice cracking from too much emotion as my lips trembled from the gnawing sense of betrayal that coursed through my veins.

I have known Victor for years, and I could tell this was not him. Something was wrong, something had to be wrong.

“Did someone approach you to do this? Were you threatened? You can tell me” I said, trying to grasp onto any form of hope that Victor would not willingly do this to me.

“No, I did this for my own personal gain. You are of use to me, Emily” He answered.

“What do you want, Victor?” I demanded, my voice trembling with a mix of anger and confusion as it finally dawned on me that Victor had indeed betrayed me. “Why are you doing this? I deserve an explanation.”

Victor stood across the room, his face which had always seemed so composed, so kind, now felt cold. His whole demeanor was chilling.
