Caren’s POV

Nix as he runs past me and I see what he is running towards. Then I watch as her body falls to the floor. A blade hilt sticking out of her chest. The pointed end sticking out several inches from her back. “NOOOO.” Both me and Lottie cried out at the same time.

We rushed to our mother’s aid. I pray as I run to her. I pray the blade has hit none of her major arteries. I pray the blade missed her heart. I pray to any and every goddess that I can heal her. “Deana, you have to give me everything you have got.”

She says nothing, she just howls. I practically skid to a standstill above her body. “Mommy. Mommy. It’s okay. I am going to fix this.” I said as I crouched down to her body, tears streaming down my face when I saw she wasn’t moving.
