Chapter 44

Ara’s POV

John must have brought every arrow we had. As I rode to the palace, they kept bouncing out of the sacks, holding them. I had to keep stopping and picking them up. As I mounted Suki once again, I looked up at the sky. The eclipse is well under way, with around a third of the sun disappearing behind the moon.

When I got to the palace, I couldn’t believe my eyes. There must be around 600 men fighting in front of me, then there were the dead. There must have been a few hundred of them. What the goddess is going on?

I took a quick look around. The invaders outnumbered the Royal Guard. For every member of the royal guard, there must be at least 4 people trying to kill them.

I rode nearly 15 feet away from the edge of the field. I didn’t want Suki getting spooked, nor did I want to become a target.
