Chapter 1 I Was Dead

I hung in the air, staring blankly at the body on the autopsy table.

It wasn't even human anymore. Its skin was completely destroyed, and the body was covered in a thin layer of frost.

I couldn't even recognize that it was me.

"Winston, are you here?" Cayden Dalton, his assistant, saw him and asked,

"The expedition team found the body when they were in Salakole this time.

"The face was all scratched up, and anything on her body that could prove her identity was taken away, so we suspect it's an intentional murder."

Hearing that the body was salvaged from Salakole, Winston paused for a moment, then he put on his sterile gloves with a poker face.

I floated in mid-air, staring at the man in front of me.

Three years... It had been three years since I died.

After I died, my soul was trapped in Salakole, suffering in the fierce wind and freezing weather all day.

Until someone found me, they brought me back.

But I didn't expect that Winston was the person who would personally dissect me.

Seeing my ruined face, Winston, a senior forensic doctor, subconsciously frowned.

He hesitated to move the knife, instead turning to ask Cayden, "Does Vivian know about this?"

Cayden shook his head. "She stayed behind to prepare for your wedding, so she shouldn't know yet."

Winston then said, "Then tell everyone not to talk to her about this matter.

"She's just a vulnerable girl. I'm afraid of scaring her," As Winston spoke, a hint of gentleness appeared on his face.

I looked at Winston in a daze.

It'd been three years, and he was about to marry Vivian.

My fiancé was going to marry the woman who murdered me.

Floating in the air, I looked at my broken body.

Even though I could no longer feel the pain, Winston's words still hurt me.

"The face was scratched with a sharp object, totaling 45 wounds.

"A fatal wound on the neck was also caused by a sharp object, and there was a strangulation mark. The woman should have been strangled before being killed."

Cayden on the side felt sorry for me as he watched. "The murderer is cruel and hates her."

Winston's words were cold, but he acted calmly and professionally.

Then it was my abdomen, which was covered with lots of stab wounds.

"There are 13 stab wounds in the abdomen."

It seemed that he also felt miserable. "According to my preliminary judgment, all the wounds were formed before death.

"The abdomen slightly bulged and contained a formed embryo, roughly three months old."

That was our child.
