chapter 4

Author's POV

Elena and Lina come downstairs. Elena was holding Lina's hand tightly in fear. She was afraid that if Lina went from there then her dad would beat her again.

"G..good morning" Elena greeted everyone when they entered the dining room.

Everyone looked at her. Elena went behind Lina in fear.

"Baby, come here. Your mom has made your all favorite foods" Jack said. The sweetness was dripping from his voice but unfortunately, the sweetness was fake.

Elena came out and looked at the dining table. Her eyes lit up seeing her favorite breakfast.

"Baby, see I have made your favorite cake too," Nancy said looking at her.

And like a small kid, Elena forgets all fear. She ran towards the table and sat down on her chair.

Jack nodded at Nancy. Nancy picked up a juice glass and put it before Elena.

"Drink it, baby," Nancy said to her.

"Okay, mommy," Elena said and drinks the juice.

"Baby, do you know what was in the juice?" Jack asked her.

"No, Daddy" Elena shook her head negatively.

"Medicine. So, when Robert asks you about the medicine you have to say I took the medicine. Okay?" Jack said to her.

"Okay. Daddy, can I go to the park today?" Elena asked him innocently.

"Sure but I can not take you there. If your Robert uncle has time then he will take you there. Now finish your breakfast" Jack said rudely. The sweetness fades away.

Elena gasped and pouted sadly hearing the rude voice again. She started eating the breakfast immediately.

When Elena had breakfast, Jack spoke up, "Lina take her to her room, and do not forget my words"

Lina nodded and left from there..

Elena entered her room and ran towards her closest.

"Baby, what do you want?" Lina asked her

"Cinderella Gown," Elena said being so excited... It is Elena's habit. Whenever she goes outside she wears a Cinderella-type gown thinking this her prince will recognize her seeing the dress.

Lina smiled at her innocence.

"Move, I will take out it for you," Lina said to her.

Elena nodded and moved away from there...

"Fast, fast," Elena said

Lina smiled and took out the dress. Elena almost snatched the dress from her and ran inside the washroom.

"Baby, don't you need my help?" Lina asked

"No. I am a big girl" Elena said and closed the door.

Lina smiled and prayed for her happiness.

After some time, Elena came out of the room pouting sadly.

"What happened, baby?" Lina asked her confused.

"I can not chain up the dress," Elena said sadly.

"So what? Turn around, baby. I will do it" Lina said

Elena nodded and turned. Lina chained up her dress.

"Now, tie up my hair like Cinderella, please," Elena said cutely

"Okay. Sit here" Lina said and picked up the hairbrush then started combing her hair...

When Lina was done she put a white crown on her head.

"Now, my baby is ready," Lina said

Elena looked up at the mirror and smiled.

"Thank you," Elena said when they heard a knock at the door.

"Come in," Lina said and Robert entered the room.

"Uncle" Elena shouted being so happy and ran towards him.

"My princess," Robert said and opened his arm.

Elena hugged him tightly.

Robert smiled wrapped his hair around her protectively and kissed her head.

"How are you, baby?" Robert asked her.

"I am fine. But I am angry at you" Elena said and moved back.

"Why? Why my Princess is angry?" Robert asked her.

"Because you did not come to meet me last week," Elena said to him.

"I am sorry, princess. I was busy with work also I was out of the country. But look what I brought for you" Robert said and took out a beautiful gown.

Elena's eyes lit up seeing the dress. She was about to take the dress but Robert held it out of her reach.

Elena looked at him pouting sadly.

"If you want it then you need to forgive me," Robert said

"Can't I take it without forgiving you?" Elena asked him cutely

"No" Robert shook his head

"But I want to visit the park too. Will you take me there if I forgive you?" Elena asked him innocently

Robert smiled at her and spoke up, "Of course, I will take you there baby"

"Then I forgive you," Elena said and took the dress with happiness.

"Lina, isn't it beautiful?" Elena asked her.

"Yes. It is so beautiful baby" Lina said to her.

"Uncle, let's go to the park," Elena said to him.

"Sure baby. But first, tell me, did you have your breakfast and medicine?" Robert asked her politely.

"Yes. I had" Elena said

"Good. Now eat the chocolate" Robert said and handed over the chocolate then he turned towards Lina

"Are they treating her well?" Robert asked him.

Lina wanted to tell him everything but when Jack's words rang in her mind she held herself back.

"Yes. They taking good care of her. But, can't you take Elena with you? She loves you a lot. She will happily live with you" Lina said to him.

"Lina, my wife died long ago. I do not have anyone in my house to take care of Elena. And I am just her grandfather's lawyer. I am not her legal patents. How can I take her with me when her mom, and dad are still alive? Although they are her adopted parents still they are her parents. I am still here because of her grandfather. Her grandfather took a promise from me that I would take care of her until she got married" Robert said to her. In the deep in his heart, he also knows Jack and Nancy never loved Elena but he can not do anything about it.

"Uncle, let's go" Elena spoke up when she finished the chocolate.

"Yeah. Let's go" Robert said

"Will you come here with her or do I need to accompany you both?" Lina asked him

"No. I will come back here. I need to discuss something important with Jack" Robert said then they left from there...
