No need for a wife

Justin snapped.

“Huh! I was just trying…”

“Do I look like I can't do it myself”, Justin cuts Jane off before wheeling away in anger and not even waiting for his bride.

Jane could only look at the chauffeur with her mouth slightly open.

“Sorry young madam, Young Sir Miller hates being pushed by anyone. He feels you are trying to make fun of him by doing so. Aside from his cold aura, Young Sir is a very nice and considerate person,” the chauffeur explained to Jane before dragging her little box to the huge double door. On getting to the door, the butler opens the door for Jane before collecting her luggage from the chauffeur.

“Welcome Young Madam Miller to your new home. My name is Boston and I will be attending to all your needs from now on”, the butler said with a broad smile on his face. Jane reciprocated the kind gesture before asking him where she was going to be sleeping as she was very tired.

“Follow my lead madam,” the butler said in a very polite tone.

Jane could only stare at the amazing decor in awe as she now understood that leaving this marriage wouldn't be as easy as she had planned. Feeling down, Jane slowly started to accept her fate. They claimed the magnetic stairs before arriving at another double door. Butler knocked on the door to confirm if anyone was inside. After listening for a while, he pushed the door open to reveal an Italian-decorated room and from the aura of the room, Jane could already tell that it was Justin’s room. She took a few breaths before walking into the room.

The room had only two colors, either black or gray, making it feel cold even without Justin being present. After carefully arranging her things in the closet, the butler gave Jane a little bow before turning to leave.

Jane looked around the room one more time before proceeding to take a warm shower, and she put her wedding dress aside. She was in too much of an emotional breakdown to notice the amazing decor of the bathroom. Quickly taking her shower, Jane took out her pajamas, put them on, then proceeded to sit by the large window that had a wonderful garden view outside, thinking about all the things that happened earlier today and how her parents had actually married her to a cripple. She couldn't cry as she was too weak and had even lost her appetite.

Jolted back to her senses by the opening of the huge double door,

Justin wheeled himself into the room and didn't even spare her a glance. She immediately stood up and cleared her throat before apologizing for her behavior earlier on.

“I am sorry if I…”

“I don't remember asking you for an apology speech”, Justin’s cold voice cut her off.

This made Jane feel worse than she already felt. Justin looked at her one more time before informing her that dinner was at eight pm, after which he wheeled himself out.

At dinner…

All the maids greeted Jane with a broad smile before serving dinner. Despite her lack of appetite, Jane ate a little and, from time to time, she would look up to see Justin eating gracefully at the other end of the table. She couldn't help but wonder how he got into the wheelchair. After dinner, Justin informed Jane that they were going to be going to the Miller family house the next day before wheeling away with no stress.

In another part of the house…

“Has she gone to bed?”, Justin asked the butler in a low but threatening voice.

“Yes, sir, she has,” the butler replied.

“Contact the clothing brand and get her a corporate gown. Also, assign a maid to her,” Justin said before returning his attention to his laptop.

“Yes sir,” the butler replied before taking his leave.

Meanwhile, at the Miller Corporation… around midnight.

“I don't see the need in that cripple getting a wife,” Anthony Miller said in a frustrated voice.

“Why are you being bothered?! From his waist down it doesn't work, so the possibility of Alexander’s daughter-in-law getting pregnant is almost impossible”, James Miller, the youngest uncle to Justin said to his elder brother, who was clearly frustrated.

“You both are dumbasses, don't you know about IVF”, Carmen Miller’s voice echoed in the dark as she walked into the room with her shoulders high. Carmen Miller is the only aunty and the eldest of four children.

“For how long have you been standing there?!,” both brothers said at the same time.

“Long enough to know that you both are dumb to think that this company belongs to either of you”, Carmen said as she pulled out a chair to sit.

“What do you mean?” Anthony asked with a brow up.

“I mean you both know that this company belongs to me as I am the eldest and the most capable.”

“But Father handed the company over to Alexander, you know the rules and…”

“I am the first child, so that company belongs to me!!!. Father only thinks I am not capable because Alexander was always parading himself to be the better one among all of us.” Carmen cut her brother James off in a slightly aloof tone as her eyes darkened.

“I am not here to talk about unnecessary things,” Carmen said as she played with her fingers.

“Hit the nail on the head, Carmen. I am already frustrated by that wedding earlier today. Don't add to it,” Anthony said, as he was not in the mood for unnecessary talk.

Carmen cleared her voice.

“Since we three have the same interest, which is to be the CEO of the Miller corporation, I was thinking, if you guys joined forces with me, and we get the company, then I promise to give you vital positions afterward”, Carmen said.

“Have you gone mad? If you want the company, go for it on your own,” James said.

“I hate working with people, and you know it, Carmen,” Anthony said as he loosened his tie.

“As expected. I only came here to give you the proposal, but since you guys have clearly opposed it. I will be taking my leave,” Carmen said as she stood up and adjusted her dress before leaving.

“See you when I become CEO OF THE MILLER CORPORATION,” Carmen added before leaving.

After this encounter, Anthony and James also agreed to work separately to achieve their respective dreams.

The next day…

Jane woke up early, and she wouldn't say her first night as a married woman was the most blissful night of her life. As she was about to get out of bed, she heard a knock on the door.

“Come in,” she said in a slightly sleepy voice.

The huge door opened and a young maid just a few years older than Jane walked in with a dress bag in her hand and gave her a little bow.

“Good morning Young Madam.”

“Sir has instructed me to get you ready for the meeting he informed you about yesterday,” the maid said, putting her head down.

“Oh about that! I almost forgot.” Jane hit her head with her palm as she couldn't believe she had forgotten something as important as that.

“OK, let's get started,” Jane said as she got out of bed.

The maid followed closely behind, but Jane turned and smiled at her before telling her that she would clean up herself. The maid bowed before taking a few steps back. Jane was really quick about her shower and was out of the bathroom in no time. She walked to the dress bag on the bed and opened it. She was an emerald green knee-length body hug gown. Jane wondered if Justin had picked the dress for her himself. She brushed her thoughts away quickly and picked up the dress before going into the closet to put the dress on.

“Madam, you look absolutely gorgeous in that dress”, the maid complimented Jane, as the dress suited her so well, and it brought out the shape of Jane's beautiful curves.

Jane thanked her as she wondered how Justin knew the size of her clothing without spending up to an hour with her.

“Madam, do you have any idea of what you want your hair to look like,” the maid asked.

“No, I don't. Just do what you want.”

The maid looked at Jane for a while before starting to style her hair. Her hair took only twenty minutes to style as she already had thick silky hair. The maid only curled the hair and let it down before proceeding to give Jane a little makeover.

“Madam, you are truly a beauty. Sir won't be able to take his eyes off you,” the maid sang praises of Jane’s beauty.

Jane could only thank her before looking at her reflection in the mirror one more time. Satisfied with her looks, Jane let out a sigh of relief before looking at the maid and asking for her name.

“Madam, my name is Elsa,” the maid replied.

“Nice name. From now on, when we are alone, you call me Jane,” Jane said with a little smile on her lips.

Jane noticed the unease in Elsa’s eyes, and she assured her it was fine. Jane turned and dusted the invisible dust off her dress before proceeding to the dining room to have breakfast.

Justin was already in the dining room when he felt someone's presence. He looked up to see Jane approaching the dining room looking like the diva that she was. Justin couldn't help but stare.

“Good morning”, Jane's little voice jolted Justin back to reality.

Without replying, Justin returned his attention to his meal before adjusting his expression to a poker face.

Jane ignored him and ate her food silently. The temperature in the room dropped beyond zero degrees. The maids were already used to their master's cold gestures, but they still felt like his cold behavior had become worse ever since young Madam came.

“Eat quickly, I don’t have all day,” Justin said to Jane.

“If you can't wait for me to finish eating, you could as well live without me,” Jane said without removing her gaze from her meal.
