Chapter 79

A few days later.

Damien got off work early today to spend some time with his daughter. They had dinner together; he watched some episodes of her favorite cartoons with her, after which it was time to go to bed.

He got her ready and then tucked her to bed.

Damien placed a deep kiss on Rumi's forehead before taking a seat on the bed by her side.

"Daddy, Where's Mommy?"

Damien swallowed painfully. "Why do you ask? You miss her?"

Rumi looked so unsure. "Did she travel again?"

Damien shook his head, wondering how to begin a proper conversation with his little girl. He hadn't told her about the divorce either and wasn't sure what to expect.

"Actually, your mom isn't feeling well."

Rumi sat up on the bed with a sad face. "Mommy is sick?"

"Please don't cry," Damien said with pleading eyes. He saw that her eyes were starting to get heavy with tears.

"I saw her a few days ago; she is getting better, so you've got nothing to worry about."
