Black's POV
Currently, I'm facing a major problem. On my way to school, I spotted somebody with colors, crouching on all fours as he looked like he was looking for something. Unfortunately, it was that guy from my class, White Reinheit. I have to pass through, but he'll definitely see me. I don't know any other routes to school, and it was bad enough that I cut classes once. I can't skip again. I begrudgingly approached him. "What're you looking for?" I asked. He looked up at me with tears in his eyes. "I lost my necklace." He replied as he wiped his tears and sniffled."Your necklace? What does it look like?""It has a silver chain and a cross.""And you lost it around here?"He nodded his head as he continued looking. I sighed loudly as I crouched down and started to search for it too. "It'll be easier if we look for it together." I said. "Don't get me wrong. I'm just doing this because I needed to pass by here."All White did was nod his head, but I could tell he was happy that I was helping him. If he's this desperate to find that necklace, desperate enough to cry for it, then it must be something really important to him. If I don't help him now, then it would leave a bad taste in my mouth. An hour passed, but we atill couldn't find it. We traced back White's steps until we got to this small park. He said he stopped by this park earlier just because he left his house too early. If we still don't find it here, then that just means he lost it on the train while on his way to school. If that were the case, then there's now way we're getting it back. "You go search there." I said as I pointed near the drinking fountain. "I'll search around here.""I'm sorry for dragging you into this, Black." White replied. "That necklace means a lot to me, so I'm very thankful you're helping me find it."I couldn't help but crack a smile. "Yeah. Let's hope we find it."After around half an hour of searching, I spotted something glistening at the corner or my eye. I walked towards and noticed a necklace on the ground. It definitely had a cross, but I couldn't see its colors. I mean, this is definitely it, right? It's impossible for another person to have coincidentally lost their necklace that just so happened to look like White's. Just in case I was wrong, I didn't immediately tell him. Instead, I walked over to White and took the necklace out. Since I could see colors around him, I could check what color the necklace was. I brought the necklace close enough to him, and there it was. A shiny, silver color. I tapped on White's back and dangled it in front of him. "Found it." I said with a smirk on my face. White instantly stood up and then pulled me into a tight hug. "Thank you so much, Black!" He exclaimed.I would've felt awful pushing him back at this point, so I hesitantly patted his back. 'Yeah, yeah." I replied. "No problem."After he calmed down, he got pretty embarassed. Well, I would be too. I can't even begin to imagine getting emotional with someone I barely know. "Thanks again for helping me find my necklace, Black." White said as he put his necklace in his pocket. "Why don't you wear it?" I asked. "It'll be harder to lose if you just wear it around your neck.""Ah, well, I just don't think it's the right time.""The right time? What are you talking about?"He chuckled. "I just don't think it matches with my clothes."He says that, but his expression earlier was weirdly sorrowful. He must have his reasons, and it probably isn't something I should pry into. Just then, he set his boundaries, so there's no reason for me to get involved any further. I sighed and looked in front of me, and to my surprise, Crimson was staring at me a hilarious expression on his face. It was a 'What the hell are you doing here?' kind of face."Well, since you already found your necklace, I'll get going." I said as I stood up. "Already?" He asked. "We should just go to school together.""My friend's waiting for me over there." I pointed at Crimson, who was sitting down and eating some food he bought from the convenience store. White's face became pale, then he smiled nervously. "I guess I'll see you at school then."After we parted ways, I immediately went to Crimson and sat down next to him. "What're you doing here?" I asked. "That's my line." He replied as he offered some store-bought bread that was in the paper bag next to him. "I didn't expect you to make another friend. I thought you wanted to be left alone.""He's not my friend." I took some of the bread and started eating it. "Things just happened and we ended up together."He laughed. "And why aren't you at school?""I could ask you the same thing.""I just woke up late." He finished eating and stood up. "Do you wanna come to my house?" He asked as he stretched his arms. "I don't really feel like going to school anymore.""Weren't you the one who told me not to cut my classes yesterday?""That was then, and this is now. Come on. It'll be fun."I eventually agreed. To be honest, it's not that I don't trust Crimson. Well, it kinda is, but I mean it's just weird for him to just invite me to his house like this. Just like my situation with White, we barely know each other. Don't they have any sense of danger? Surprisingly, Crimson's house was just really near that park. It was a simple apartment complex. We opened the door to his apartment, when suddenly, something jumped towards me. We were already inside, so I didn't make too much noise, but I ended up lying on the ground with something heavy on my chest. I opened my eyes and saw a white cat with blue eyes sitting on my chest. It meowed, then Crimson picked it up. "Sorry for that." He said as he offered his hand to help me. "She gets like that when there's an unfamiliar face.""It's fine." I replied as I took his hand. "What's her name?""Shiro."The moment Crimson mentioned her name, Shiro meowed again. She rubbed her nose on Crimson's cheek, and with a soft smile on his face, Crimson rubbed her chin. "That's unexpected." I commented. "I never expected you to make that kind of expression."Crimson flinched and placed Shiro around his neck. "What's wrong with it?" He asked with a shy expression on his face."Nothing. I was just surprised."He groaned. "Just wait in the kitchen for a bit.""Ah, sure."While he went back to his room, I took it upon myself to look around. The apartment itself wasn't small, but it wasn't big either. It seemed like the perfect size for somebody that lived alone. There were no pictures of his family on his shelf. In fact, the shelf was practically empty except for a few manga and comics. There was literally nothing around here. Suddenly, I could feel a scratching on my leg. I looked down and saw Shiro. She meowed at me, then ran away. I thought she probably just wanted to play, so I ignored her, but then a few seconds later, she did the same thing. I followed her after she ran away, and when we got to the hallway, she turned around to look at me, as if checking if I was following her. When she saw me, she ran into one of the rooms.Again, I followed her. The door was slightly ajar, and when I reached for the handle to open it fully, I could hear sniffling inside the room. I hesitated for a bit, then opened the door. Inside the room was Crimson, holding what seemed to be a picture. He saw me and immediately hid the picture behind his back. "What're you doing here?" He asked. "Uh, Shiro wanted me to follow her and led me here.""Right. My bad. I forgot you were waiting there." He placed the picture inside one of the cabinets and passed me, tailing behind him was Shiro. "Let's go."The lights were dimmed when I opened the door, but I saw the expression on Crimson's face. When he passed me earlier, I could've sworn his eyes were a little red, like he just finished crying. That just means that sniffling that I heard earlier was real, and it had something to do with that picture he hid.Well, even if that's the case, it has nothing to do with me.Black's POVToday is club recruitment day. It's a day designated for the freshmen and transfer students to check out the clubs and join one that interests them. There aren't any classes today, so the whole day is used for clubs to recruit members. Luckily, I already have a club, so I don't have to go through the trouble of trying to find one.I entered our club room, and surprisngly, Crimson wasn't there. While waiting for him, I decided to work on some schoolwork.I'm currently part of the light music club. This place is honestly just a club in name only. We don't do any club activities. Instead, we just hang out here. Crimson and I are the only members, and I don't think Crimson intends to recruit any more. It's surprising that the school allows this, but I'm not really complaining. The clubroom's doors were suddenly swung open, making a large banging noise. I flinched and turned around, seeing Crimson all tatte
Black's POV"I'm home." I said as I entered our house, but nobody answered. I guess Aunt Autumn hasn't come home yet.I sighed and went straight to my room. I changed my clothes, then lied down as I took my phone out and put my earphones on. Our performance will be in two days, so I have to learn the song by that time.I took out the lyrics inside my bag and read it as the song played. Surprisingly, Crimson had a really soft singing voice. It was unexpected considering his rough-sounding voice whenever he talks.I knew something felt weird when I was listening to the song, but as I skimmed through the lyrics, I could understand what it was. The song sounded lonely. It wasn't just the lyrics, but Crimson's singing and the tone of the song made it sound very lonely too. When I finished the song, I didn't notice that I had
Black's POV Ever since we were suddenly told we had to perform at the end of club recruitment, Crimson and I have been practicing whenever we had free time. I wondered why we had to perform on the last day, but Crimson said it was because the principal knew we didn't want any new members. The principal and his parents were actually friends, and I guess his parents asked for a favour from the principal? I'm not really sure about the details, but it was something like that. The only reason we had to perform this year was because I joined, and the principal wanted to see what we could do. It's pretty much my fault that Crimson had to go through all this, but he wasn't as mad as I expected him to be. "Hey, you okay?" Crimson asked as he placed a can of juice on my desk. "You nervous for later?" "Ah, yeah, a bit." I replied as Iaughed nervously. "I guess I'm just really not used to this type of stuff." "Geez, you've neve
Black's POV"I flunked it." I said as I buried my face into my hands."You did great." Crimson replied as he sat down next to me. "Didn't you hear the crowd cheering earlier? They loved you."Our performance finished, and I honestly couldn't remember much of what happened. I got so nervous that I blacked out, and when I came to, we were already done. I can't help but feel robbed, but I'm glad that we're finally done with it.The doors to the music room opened, then Scarlet peeked inside. "There you two are." She said as she handed us a plastic bag with food and drinks. "Congratulations to the both of you. The freshmen won't stop talking about your performance, especially you, Black. They loved your voice.""Thank you." I replied. "Ah, your clothes.""You can keep them. Just remember the agreement we had. We'll
Black's POVAfter Crimson and I ate lunch, I walked back to my classroom. On my way there, I noticed Lilac carrying a bunch of notebooks on her own. They were definitely too much for her.She was swaying from side to side, and it looked like she was about to fall anytime. I walked up to her and grabbed half of what she was carrying."Where are you taking these?" I asked."Oh, Black." She called my name and smiled. 'Thanks for helping me. I just need to get these to my class.""Are you on class duty?""How'd you know?""I'd be an idiot if I didn't. Why are you doing this alone? Where's the other one on duty?""She said she had to take care of something else, so I just offered to do it myself."I sighed as we coincidentally arrived at her classroom. I took all the notebooks from her and placed them on the teacher's desk. "Don't do reckless things like these again.
Black's POV"White, this is Scarlet and Crimson." I introduced them to each other. "They're my friends. Crimson, Scarlet, this is White, my...classmate.""Nice to meet you, White." Scarlet said as she approached him. "You don't mind if we join, right? We'll pay for the karaoke room.""We will?" Crimson asked."You will. I'll pay for the food you order as well. How does that sound?""U-Um..." White stuttered as he looked at my direction, but I avoided eye contact.I'm sorry, White, but they want your answer, not mine.He eventually agreed, but the aftermath was horrible. The atmosphere was really awkward, and it looked like Scarlet was the only one enjoying herself."I'm so sorry about this, White." I whispered as I sat next to him. "I really didn't expect to see them here. I'll make it up to you.""Ah, no, it's okay." He replied in a whisper as well. "The more t
Black's POV"I know I said we should start over, but you don't have to stick with me all the time." I said as I placed my notebook in my bag and grabbed my wallet."Isn't it fine?" White replied. "We're friends, so it isn't a big deal to hang out like this.""I'm not your only friend, White. What would your other friends think if you just keep sticking to me? I'll be okay on my own.""Black!" Someone called my name from outside the classroom. Scarlet and Crimson were standing by the door, waiting for me."That's my cue." I said as I stood up. "Go hang out with your other friends."I went over to Scarlet and Crimson, then we had lunch. As always, we hung out at the club room. This is often my routine here at school. During lunch and dismissal, I hang out with Crimson here in the club room. Sometimes, Scarlet joins us, but she's been frequenting here too. Nothing much has changed, except for the undesirable popula
Black's POV"Hey!" Scarlet exclaimed as she suddenly burst open the doors to the clubroom. "Have you seen this?!""What is it?" I asked as she approached us."Somebody posted your performance on the school website.""They did??" Crimson joined us. "Why?""I have no idea, but even students from other school are watching it. Not only that, but Black's been getting a lot of attention again.""What do you mean?" I asked. She scrolled up the website, then stopped on one post. "A mysterious transfer student with a cold gaze, but heavenly voice." She read the caption of the post aloud as she showed us a few candid pictures of me. "The students are fawning over you."Well, there goes my quiet life.Crimson chuckled. "Guess you aren't getting a peaceful school life after all." He said with a smirk on his face."Shut up." I sighed. "I hope p
Crimson's POVI've always been told I have a scary face. It's not that I want to look like this, but with the way I've been raised, I found it hard to smile normally. I'm not a social person either, so even if I knew how to act normal, I don't know how to be friendly. My parents were very strict on me growing up. My old man's the owner of his own business, and my mom supports him all the way. They raised me to be their perfect little son so I'd do whatever they wanted, but I got sick of it. Because of that, I started the opposite of whatever they told me.I got into a lot of fights, I did things I wasn't supposed to do, I flunked my classes, but no matter what I did, I still felt trapped in the cage that my parents confined me in. It was hard to escape, but that was until I found something I actually wanted to do.I told my old man that I'd stop causing trouble for them if they let me live on my own, and because I
Black's POV"I'll ask you again." Crimson said as he pinned the light-colored boy on the wall. "What the hell are you doing here?"The boy glared at Crimson, then pushed him back and threw a punch. "I wouldn't have gone to this dump if you didn't run away!"Crimson immediately retaliated with a punch of his own. "I never asked you to find me!"And the fight just went on. I wanted to try and stop it, but there was no way I could do it on my own. If I let myself get caught in that crossfire, I can guarantee that I'll just end up being beaten up. I could probably do something else that doesn't involve me getting their way, but what?I took a deep breath and accepted that there was no peaceful way to stop this, so I braced myself and stepped in the middle. "Stop it!" I exclaimed as I shielded Crimson from a punch."Y-You idiot!" Crimson shouted as he checked on me. "Are you okay?? Does it hurt?"
Black's POVWhat a peaceful day. I woke up really early, and since I didn't have anything to do at home, I decided to just go to school. When I got here, it felt so empty. There were really few students and they're all just doing their own thing.Everything's so quiet and calm. It's not too hot nor too cold, so basking in the sun from the classroom's window felt amazing. The only thing that could ruin this perfect day is a sudden loud noise."Black!" I could hear someone call my name as the doors to the classroom slammed open. The peace is ruined now.I turned around and saw Scarlet, tears forming in her eyes as she stood by the doors. "Hey, what happened??" I asked as I stood up and approached her. "Are you hurt anywhere?"She shook her head and wiped her tears. "Crimson asked me out again."For a moment, my mind went blank as I processed what she just said. "He asked
Black's POV"Do you feel better?" I asked as Crimson came back."Yeah, thanks." He replied."Here." I handed him a cup of hot chocolate and sat down. "You're gonna sleep here, alright?""What? I never agreed to that.""Aunt Autumn said it's too late to go home, and I agree with her. I don't want you getting into another fight.""I told you, I'm fine.""And I believe you, but I'd rather you stay here for tonight."He sighed, then glared at me. "You really gotta mind your own business sometimes."'Here. Eat up." I said as I pushed him the box of pastries."That was your aunt, right?" He asked as he took one and started eating."Yeah.""And it's just you two here?""Yeah. I live with her after all.""Right..."The atmosphere quickly turned awkward
Black's POV I finally got home after a long day. As usual, our house was empty. Everything's been so lively lately that everytime I come home, I feel a little lonely. I sighed and immediately lied down as soon as I got into my room. I closed my eyes, but I didn't sleep. I just didn't want to see everything so colorless. I didn't used to mind how colorless everything was. I just let the days pass while I slowly withered away. I never thought the day would come when I'd feel so hopeless again. "I'm home!" I could hear Aunt Autumn's voice downstairs and the doors creak open. I stood up and headed downstairs. "Welcome home." I said as I entered the living room and saw Aunt Autumn, her warm colors filling the room. "I'm so
Black's POVI wanted to say that I was enjoying the show, but how can I enjoy a colorless show when there's a literal light blub right next to me?The girl that smelled like disinfectants noticed I was staring at her quite intently, so she asked me if something was wrong. Thankfully, the conversation ended pretty quickly since the show started. I don't know how I would've answered her if the conversation continued. I would normally just brush it off and apologize, but my mind just blanked for some reason earlier.I still don't understand why these people are suddenly gaining colors. Why specifically these people? It's not even limited to the people at school anymore since Al's obviously from somewhere else. It just doesn't make sense. It's not like I know them from anywhere else. I wish I knew something more about my illness so I could at least stop being so confused. Come to think of it,
Black's POV "This is nerve-wracking!" Scarlet exclaimed as she paced back and forth. "I'm sure he'll be here soon." I replied to hopefully calm her down. "Maybe he just got caught up in something." Today's the day of Scarlet's competition. To support her, I was supposed to just stay in the audience and watch, but she sent me a message telling me to go to their dressing room. It turns out, Crimson was running late, and beacause of it, Scarlet's panicking. It was really quite a sight to see her like this. We both sent him a message, but he wasn't replying. We don't know where he could be, so we can't even try to look for him. "Um, if Crimson doesn't come, I can wear the clothes instead." I suggested. "No!" Scarlet exclaimed. "I don't want you to wear something I made for somebody else. You should wear something that I made for you. I don't want to just give you something just because the pe
Black's POVThe play started with introducing the princess and some of the characters close to her. It really looked like it was setting up a star-crossed lovers plot. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't really watching it for the story. After a few minutes, they introduced the prince. Just like in the poster, he had a metallic blue color surrounding him, but it was flickering. The boy in the mask was probably Lilac's friend. I already forgot his name, but he was the tall expressionless guy. I wonder how he ended up in a play like this."Princess, I've come to rescue you!" A loud voice suddenly echoed throughout the gymnasium. To my surprise, the voice came from the expressionless boy. He took his mask off and smiled at the princess as he held her hand and kneeled down. "I will dedicate my life to you, princess, so long as you let me."Somehow, his voice gave me the chills. I didn't know he could make expressions like that, and
Black's POV"Wow." White said as he stared at the school's entrance, which had extravagant decorations. "This is a school festival, right?""I guess so." I replied.I don't know what White sees, but everything that I could see was just monochrome. I'm sure these decorations make people feel festive or something, but I guess that's gonna be impossible for me.'Should we go inside?" White asked."Ah, yeah. Where do we give the tickets though?""I think over there." He pointed to a small booth right past the gate.We gave our tickets, then they stamped the back of our hands with something. I guess it was some kind of permit for the festival. I texted Al to ask where he was, but he wasn't responding.I looked at White and saw him looking around. "Do you wanna walk around?" I asked."What about your friend?""He hasn't replied yet
