Chapter 1

Two people were lying on the bed in a dark room. Lucy Everhart was so tired from what had happened last night that she could barely open her eyes.

She turned over in bed with great effort and accidentally touched someone's abdominal muscles. The man's figure was better than she had expected.

Her touch prompted the man to flip over and pin her beneath him.

"Ann, let's do it one more time."

"Thomas, it still hurts…"

Thomas?

Ann?

The two of them immediately moved away from each other. Lucy scrambled to turn on the bedside lamp. Then, she saw an unfamiliar face.

"Who are you?" she asked as she grabbed the blanket to cover herself up. Her mind was in a mess.

The man, Tobias Ripley, was also surprised. "Who are you? This is my room! Why are you here?"

The lights had been off the night before. He hadn't expected to bed the wrong person.

Lucy replied, "This is Room 1129. My sister gave me the keycard herself. I came here to meet with my fiancé…"

Tobias thought it was all part of Lucy's scheme.

He sneered. "This is Room 1128. Women like you really are desperate to get into my bed, aren't you?"

Lucy was deeply offended by Tobias' insult. She'd had too much to drink the night before and had mustered up the courage to come to a hotel with her fiancé.

Her sister, Lily Everhart had booked the room; she was also the one who had handed Lucy the keycard.

But Lucy had run into someone on the way to the room, and both their keycards had fallen to the ground in the process.

Had that mistake led to her entering the wrong room?

Lucy covered her face and started sobbing silently.

Tobias got up and got dressed. Lucy's tears made him feel bad for her.

"Don't cry. I'll take responsibility for what happened last night. Tell me. What do you want as compensation?" Tobias looked very dignified, but his tone was cold.

Lucy kept sobbing. Upon hearing what he said, she raised her head and glared at him with anger and shock in her eyes.

"What do you take me for?"

Lucy got up and put her clothes back on. The more she thought about it, the more his words angered her.

"I don't need any compensation. Also, you're so bad in bed that I would never cling on to you. I hope we never meet again!" With that said, she left the room.

Tobias narrowed his eyes as he watched her leave. He was seething with rage.

That damned woman had actually dared to say he was bad in bed! He vowed to teach her a lesson if they ever crossed paths again.

After he left the room, he received a text.

"Tobias, where did you go last night? I waited for you the entire night. Was there an emergency at work?"

Tobias looked at the message he had received from his girlfriend, Anna Lane. Guilt and regret surged in his heart when he thought about what had happened the night before.

Then, he received another text.

"Tobias, I'm reporting for duty on set now. Don't forget to miss me."

"Do your best at work. I'll be waiting for your return."

Tobias set his phone down and massaged his temples. He was very troubled. How was he supposed to tell Anna about what happened the night before?

Lucy covered herself up thoroughly and rushed home. As soon as she reached the door to her room, she heard some people talking.

"Thomas…"

"Oh, Lily…"

Lucy was stunned. Those were the voices of Lily and her fiancé, Thomas Wheeler!

"Thomas, I hooked Lucy up with a man with an STD. You won't be angry at me for that, right?"

"She deserves that! She pretended to be the heiress of the Everhart family and deceived us! If you hadn't asked Mr. Everhart to do a DNA test, there's no telling how much longer she would've fooled us.

"She's just getting what she deserves! My engagement with her is now null and void. Lily, will you marry me?"

Lucy was utterly dumbfounded.
