Chapter 27

"She's my sister, Phoebe, not my lover," Caelum said with a pleading tone. But I didn't bother to look at him again, just leaving him there dumbfounded.

I went back to the office once more, trying to shake off everything he said to me. Why was he explaining this to me? I don't even care.

I bit my lower lip as I thought, "Is he playing with me again?"

I rolled my eyes and submitted the rest of the reports to Meggay. Opening my phone with too many thoughts, I saw a new piece of news. I clicked the link, and the video started playing.

"We're back with another update on this case. We suspect the family may have had another Daughter, as evidenced by clothes and a picture frame with another child. They are four in total, indicating another child or perhaps one who is old enough to work. We found no fingerprints of other people, and the picture frame with the other child's face is damaged. We suspect this person may be responsible for the entire family's deaths—"

My jaw dropped at the news.
