Chapter 2 Live Concert

Physics was done in a flash. Since it was the first day of school, the teachers didn't make us do a lot of things. Usually, they just make us write about our expectations about this subject and what we want to learn. Of course, just for the sake of passing the papers, the students would just write a bunch of nonsense and lies.

Don't you agree?

"Students, this is your vice president Xander speaking." Xander's voice rang in the speakers as we were about to exit the room. Hearing his voice just made me glare at the speaker and chanting DIE. I wouldn't have been in that situation if I hadn't bump into him. "This afternoon, there will be no classes!”

The students erupted in cheer. You could even hear the students from the other rooms. As for me, I was cheering on the inside.

No classes!

But still DIE for Xander.

"But!" Added the voice of Xander. Oh just die! Choke on a coke or something!

"We will have some special guests this afternoon. The well known Pandorgriff are going to perform live!" He said. Immediately, the students erupted in a second wave of cheer. Even I couldn't help but let out a small squeal that only I could hear.

The Pandorgriff are one of the most well-known male and female bands. They make covers and amazing songs that you couldn't help but listen to. Their band was discovered last year during their performance in a restaurant. Since then, they started to bloom and their music became a popular song. They have four members in their group; 3 of them are males while one of them is a female.

Sophie Serena is the drummer and the female vocalist of the group. Although she's a girl, she can play the drum really well. Plus, she's really pretty and the only living idol that I know who can pull off a rich scarlet colored wig.

The pianist is Nico Pierce. He's very famous with his green colored wig that seemed to change it's style in every performance.

Gabrielle Xyler, the base of the group, known for his white hair and cold attitude. He rarely speaks in interviews and rarely acknowledges his fans, which makes him all the more desirable for the ladies.

And lastly, there's Kevin Roark, the lead singer. His signature look is his blue hair. But he's not always the lead singer. He and Gabrielle would always switch their places depending on each song.

So I think this means that Gabrielle and Kevin are the lead singers and the base of the group.

That's why I'm wondering how on earth was our school able to get The Pandorgriff to sing here. Don't get me wrong, our school and the students here are rich, but would the school be willing to budget enough money to pay the band?

"Please proceed to the activity center after lunch. Have a nice day everyone!" Then the students started to leave the room.

I grabbed my things and headed back to my locker and stuffed my books inside, which were pretty useless since we didn't use them yet. I grabbed my bag, which held nothing but a single notebook, and made my way to the cafeteria. Once I arrived, I got a tray and placed some soup and a sandwich on it. My eyes roamed around the room until I spotted my personal table near the popular people.

Of course, no one sat there but me. I did say that I have a personal table, right? It was not my idea to have one, mind you. It was the students here who named that table for me. Really!

I ate my lunch in silence and brought out my phone and earphones and played some music. Since I don't have anyone to talk to, I started to read books on my phone. Trust me, being a cool-loner girl gives you a lot of time to read.

This soup tasted funny but I continued to eat it anyway.

That was all I did when I heard the bell rang, signaling for the end of our lunch. But today, it signaled that it's time for The Pantergriff's arrival. The student's quickly got up and exited the room. I was about to do the same when I felt this urge to do something other than pee. If you know what I mean.

"Oh crap." I mumbled when I felt my stomach starting to churn. A very undesirable and disastrous signal.

Why now of all days?! Why can't it be tonight! It must be because of the soup!

"Hailey, are you coming?" One girl, who I have no idea who she is, asked me shyly. I stood straighter and nodded at her.

"Fine." I said.

She then grinned and headed out of the cafeteria with her friends. Once everyone was gone I clutched my stomach and made my way to the girl's comfort room. But as I entered, it was full of girls who were fixing their makeup. I quickly shut the door before they could see me.

I decided to use the 3rd floor's ladies room instead. I clutched my stomach tightly to ease the pain. Crap!

As I reached the 3rd floor, I looked to my left....and then to my right.

All clear.

I ran towards the ladies room. But before I entered, I made sure that no one was around to see me or hear me take a sh't.

I sighed in relief when I saw that the coast was clear and went into the cubicles to do my thing.

That felt great.

I sighed and grabbed a bottle of perfume from my bag and sprayed it on myself before spraying the entire room to rid it of the evidence of what just happened.

No one must know. If they do then I will murder them. My image is at stake here.

I placed the bottle of perfume back in my bag and exited the comfort room feeling lighter after I deposited the extra weight. If you know what I mean.

I made my way to the stairs to go to the activity center when I noticed a movement to my side. When I looked back, there was nothing there.

I shrugged and continued to walk away, but then I noticed it again. There was a movement near the trash bins. Maybe it's one of my stalkers?

Nah! I would know because they are lousy stalkers. They're too loud. And besides, they could hide near the trash bins. They are all too big for that.

So if it's not my stalkers, then what is it?

I gulped and decided to just ignore it. I turned my back and started to walk the other way.

I heard footsteps behind me and the hairs on the back of my neck stood. Now I started to feel scared. Which is really pathetic of me.

I quickened my pace.

The footsteps started to quicken too.

But wait. Why the heck am I running again? I could just face that person and judo flip him. Why haven't I thought of that?

I stopped walking and turned around to face my foe with my stance ready. A second later and I felt someone bump into my stomach.

"Umpf!"

I looked down to the person who fell to the ground from the impact. It was a little boy about the age of 8.

Ew. A child.

He was looking at me with a frightened face. And that's when I noticed my fighting stance.

Oh crap.

I quickly fixed myself and turned to the little boy. "Hey there." I said as I kneeled in front of him. "Are you hurt?" I said and reached out and helped him stand.

He didn't say anything, but he was still looking at me.

This kid seems familiar. Especially with his hazel brown hair and blue eyes! I go crazy for blue eyes! They are just so wonderful!

But wait. What is this kid doing here? He's wearing a Waynard uniform in the elementary level. But this is the high school level. Last time I checked, the elementary building was located separately from the high school building. It's about 10 buildings from here.

I stared at the kid once again and decided to just ask him. "Um....kid, what's your name?"

"Patrick."

"Hi, Patrick. Where's SpongeBob?" I joked, but the kid doesn’t seem to get it. Patrick just tilted his head to the side. "Never mind. My name is Hailey. Nice to meet you, Patrick."

He didn't say anything.

Well this is awkward.

"So um.....tell me, Patrick. What are you doing in this building? Are you lost?" He nodded. "Do you...or do you know someone here that I could take you to?"

"Yes. But he said to wait in their room.....but I got lost." Unlike the other kid I'm his age that might have cried, this kid still maintains a straight face.

"Do you know which room?"

He shook his head. Oh just fudging great.

"Do you want some help to look for the room?" Please say no. Please say no.

He nodded.

Amazing. Truly fantastic!

But what about The Pandorgriff's live concert?! But I can't just leave this kid. He might get into trouble.

"Hello student's from Waynard High! Are you having a great day?!"

My eyes widened when I heard the voice. I quickly looked down from the rail to see that the students gathered in the activity center with a mini stage set at the very center. On the stage were the members of The Pandorgriff.

No! It's starting! I wanna go there!

I looked back at the kid who was still staring at me.

Maybe I could just ditch him. He couldn't catch up with me after all.

What?! No! It's against my values to leave poor and innocent kids alone! Even though I hate kids.

I just have to find this room that the kid is talking about so I can go back down and watch the concert.

That's it! I can do this!

"Alright, kid. Let's go look for that room of yours. Come on. Let's not waste time." I grabbed the kid's hand as we started to go search the 3rd floor. And if you think that this is a simple task for me then think again.

Waynard High is one of the largest schools here in the country. Take note of the word largest.

We then went to the 4th floor and even the rooftop but to no avail. I was already panting and yet the kid was still quiet. What is he? A robot?

The Pandorgriff are already down to their last song and I still have the 2nd and the 1st floor to search with. I slumped on the door of the rooftop as I tried to catch my breath. The kid was just looking at me.

I lifted a finger to tell him to hold on for a sec. "Just.....let....me....catch.....my breath, kid."

"Okay." He says.

I suddenly got on my feet once I heard the Pandorgriff singing. Oh crap! They are down to their last song.

No! I'm going to miss their mini concert. This isn't really my lucky day! Why universe why?!

"Come on, Patrick!! Let's move!!" We have to hurry or else I won't be able to catch up! As I was about to drag Patrick, he moved away from me.

"Patrick?"

"I need to go potty."

For a very brief moment, I pictured myself jumping off of the rail to escape my responsibilities.

"Okay. Let's go, Patrick. And let's hurry." Instead of dragging him, I now carried him. I was even surprised that I was able to do that. I just don't want him to slow me down further. I carried him to the nearest comfort room. He went in quickly.

I knocked on the door. "Are you done yet?"

"No."

I bit my fingers in nervousness. This is not happening to me! I'm gonna miss them!

The door to the comfort room suddenly opened and Patrick came out smiling at me. "I'm done."

Well finally!

"Let's go." I grabbed his hand as we ran to the stairs and headed to the second floor. All the while, Patrick was laughing.

I gave him a curious look. "What's funny?" I asked him.

He just grinned at me saying, "You're weird. You look so cool and yet you seem tense."

Ohh.?

We descended down the stairs and stopped when Patrick dropped his watch on the ground. This time, I quickly dashed towards it and held it to him. I'm not gonna let another distraction be in my way.

We continued to run room to room. Trying to look for the room that this kid was talking about.

"Is it this room?"

"No."

"This room?"

"No."

"This?"

"No.

"What does the room look like?"

"A room with four walls."

I turned my back from Patrick so he wouldn't see me slap myself on the face in frustration. The kid makes me want to......I don't know. Punch someone? I mean, how can you find that room when the only clue that he'll give you is a room with FOUR WALLS?

Whoever his sibling is, I will bully him/her on my remaining days of this blasted school.

I was already panting when we finished searching the entire 2nd floor. And they are about to finish the song!

It was then that I started to accept the fact that I am never gonna see the band perform.

The students erupted in a cheer as the song ended. And probably as The Pandorgirffs exited the stage.

I, on the other hand, had a pout on my face when the kid and I went to the 1st floor. We searched every room there was but Patrick said that it's not the right room.

While the kid was skipping happily as we walked, I was already dragging myself since I wasn't in the mood.

I just missed The Pandorgriffs performance!

All because of a kid!

Patrick and I walked for another five minutes before he stopped. "This is it!" The kid said in glee. I looked up to see that we were now in the student council's front door.

Wait, the student council?

I looked at the kid weirdly. "Are you sure?"

"Yep." He nodded. Eyes still glued to the front door. My gaze fell to the door, then back at the kid.

Hang on.....it couldn't be, right?

"What was your name again?"

"Patrick."

"No. Your last name."

"Lewis."

My jaw dropped at the sudden realization. "Lewis....as in Xander Andrew Lewis?". The boy only nodded his head.

No.Way!

Of course! How can I be so stupid! How can I not see the resemblance of the two? The eyes should have been very obvious! Plus, the way the kid just smiled is very similar to how Xander usually smiles to the students.

There must have been something on my face that made Patrick frown.

"You don't believe me do you?"

I was caught off guard by his question that I wasn't able to speak.

Patrick only shrugged and grabbed my hand before pulling me to the door. "I'll just show you then." Before I could protest, Patrick had already opened the door.

My breath caught in my throat at the scene that I just witnessed. I even blinked and rubbed my eyes several times to make sure that I wasn’t seeing things.

In front of me stood the 2 males from the band The Pandorgriff. Nico, and Kevin have their back to me. Their colorful wigs shining in the light. And I could just gape at them all day.

Who cares if I didn't get to watch their mini concert? At least I get to see them this close.

But when they turned, their wigs fell off.

"Patrick! There you are. I have been looking everywhere fo-" I looked around and spotted Xander standing by the couch and my jaw dropped. Oh yeah, the student council room? More like a rich lounge room. But it wasn't because of it that surprised me. It was the white wig on his hand and his rock star attire that he was wearing.

I looked at Kevin and Nico who turned to me. Nico was in the middle of taking off his wig, but when he saw me, he clumsily placed it back on.

No way.

There was an awkward silence as I was putting two and two together when the door, I assume is their bathroom, opened and revealed Sandy in her school uniform. Everything would have seemed perfectly normal except that she was holding a red wig. It's color was pretty similar to the ones that Sophie, from The Pandorgriff, wore.

"Phew! I'm done changing guys, so you can go ahead and take a shower." She said as she casually walked towards the table and fixed the stuff on it. "Should I ask the manager for a new wig color? I'm getting really tired of the red one and I was wondering if pink would be nice?" She blabbered and examined the wig with her face all scrunched up.

When no one spoke to answer her questions, she let out a sigh and turned to face her group. "Seriously gu-'' She stopped as soon as her eyes landed on me. When she did, she quickly hid the wig behind her and gave me a nervous smile. "Hey." She gave me a small wave.

Then it just hit me as I put two and two together.

The student councils are The Pandergriffs.

Or was it the other way around?

To what extent is she willing to ruin people’s lives just so she can stay in the spotlight? I have never been so angry at anyone before, but I will deal with my emotions later. My priority right now is Xander. Looking at Xander, I was surprised to see him standing so calmly in front of me. Well, he wasn’t entirely calm. He was shaking, but it wasn’t from fear or anxiety. The big day has arrived, and even though I have complete faith in my mother's design abilities, I can not help but feel nervous. I have seen the design before, but when I look in the mirror, I cannot help but admire the dress. It’s a light lavender dress with a sweetheart neckline and a thin laced strap to keep it in place—my mom knows I was never gifted in the frontal area. The skirt is a flare shape, with the hemline ending perfectly a few centimeters from the floor. Most of the beadwork is at the neckline and waist since the material used for the skirt is chromatic. It shines perfectly on its own. My mother didn’t want me to look too mature so my hair is left in a side loose braid. “Perfect!” My mother enters the dressing room just as I finish clasping dangling earrings in my ears. I shy away from the mirror at how my mother is continuously gushing at me and my outfit. “Darling, you look wonderful! Of course, I expect no less from my daughter, who carries my perfect genes!” “N
