Chapter 4

Katherine p.o.v

After what took place with the meeting I knew what the odds would have been before I would return to the table, yet I wasn't in a rush at all. Sooner or later they will start to talk and that is when I will be ready patiently waiting. As I parked my car I headed inside to get a drink. I needed it right now. I was about to sit on my ass when James walked through the door. James was a noble friend who I met on my journey as a rogue. He is a lycan and very strong of his kind. Ever since we met we stayed together through hell or high water. "Long morning?" he asked as his hand crossed over his chest. I just gave him a faint smile with a simple answer:

" Nothing that I cannot handle!" He took a seat and pulled me close so that my ass fell on his leg. So there might be one thing that I did not mention and that was that we were more than just friends. When my father told me about our curse or mine that's when I decided to go against all rules.

"Why are we back here Katherine?" he asks in a steady tone.

"Told you that I have unfinished business here!" I said laying halfway through my teeth. I wasn't just here to get answers I wanted to see what my mate would look like, yet it turn out it was the boy that I grew up with. From a boy to a gorgeous man which came with the name Mate!

"Have you seen him?"

"Who?" I asked surprisingly.

"The man that betrayed your family?" he asked bringing me back from my thoughts of Nick.

"No, but with time I will find him trust me I am not planning to play nice!"

"You said two weeks tops, what is the delay here Katherine?" he said and within a second I had my hand around his throat.

"Leave if you want to, I am planning on staying longer!" I said before I let go of him I walked out of the door only to hear him asking me where I was going.

"For a run, when I get back you better be gone!" I said as I headed upstairs to change before I went out running. I came to a halt when I felt a warm sensation over my body. My hands started to shake from the feeling of knowing that something is wrong until I met his eyes.

"We need to stop meeting like this!" I said as I walked past him, yet he only followed me.

"Why? I quite enjoy this running into each other Mate!" his voice sounded like an angel's. I was about to turn around when I felt him creeping up behind me. His strong hands landed on my waist leaving me to freeze from the shock that went through my body.

"I am trying to be nice to you Nick after what you're.." I could not speak further before his hands covered my mouth and yanked me behind a tree. I was about to fight him until I heard noises. It sounded like trackers looking for something or should I rather say, someone. "They're gone! Fuck should have taken her down when I had the chance!" A croaking voice said. After they left Nick only let go of me once it was clear, I think he was scared that I was going to make a scene, yet I was not of anything I was shocked. The last time that I had to deal with trackers was when my father was killed. After that, I became a rogue running from them ever since.

"You alright?" he asked taking me from my thoughts. "Yeah, mind explaining how you knew that they would be here?"

"The council send out a message after you left so I decided to come and warn you!"

"Why?"

"Cause I care for you Katherine and I don't want to lose you again! It has been years.."

"I don't need you to look out for me do you understand? I can manage that on my own your family and the council made sure of that years ago!"

"I know you are killing rogues!" he said leaving me in silence.

"I caught one and you know what she said before I ripped her heart out?"

"Who cares!"

"I do when she mentioned a wolf entangled in all of this, now I need to know what happened behind those close doors Katherine, cause..."

"Cause what Nick? You're going to kill me? Put Trackers on me? Give me over to the council? When are you going to get it, Nick, I don't care anymore! I am just looking for the traitor then I am going to kill him!" "How by ripping his fucking head off?"

"No, to rip his loved ones to pieces before I make him eat it then I will rip his heart out, cause even though he causes me pain I will not have that same punishment for him!"

"You already have trackers on your back Katherine, just let it go!"

"Do not tell me what to do! I will not let this go even if this was a command from, my mate!"

"You feel that warmth inside of you, that makes you human Katherine and even if you fight it you will lose against it!" he said leaving me to smirk at him before I took a step closer leaning in just so that I could say something to him.

"You think that there is still something human left in me, how sweet!" I said before I shoved him into the tree. A loud growl escaped from him as a tree branch pierced through his side leaving me to look at him. "The Katherine that you knew as a little girl, died a long time ago Nick, stay the fuck away from me!"

"You are going to regret this!"

"Yeah, well the only way that you will be able to stop me is if you kill me, mate!" I said before I ran away using my speed.

Nick's p.o.v

I walked home with anger running through my body. She is starting to work on my last nerve. As I approached my house Evan came walking up to me, once he saw the blood he started to panic. He wanted to call the pack doctor, but I stopped him before he could even think of giving out orders. I walked into the living room taking a bottle of rum before I took a seat on the couch.

"You look like shit!"

"Mind your fucking tone!" I said harshly as I was on edge at this point.

"Sorry Alpha, who did this to you?"

"Who do you fucking think Evan?" I said before I took a sip of the rum. After that, I threw a bit over the wound that was busy healing. She just knows how to piss me off.

"Our Luna did this to you? I don't mean to be rude alpha, but what did you do to get her to try to kill you?" he said as he took a seat across from me. What should I tell him that I was trying to reason with a psychopath who hates me at this point? The moon goddess indeed outdid herself this time! Now I get to be stuck with her for eternity!

"Nothing, I went out for a run and came across her!" I said looking him dead in the face.

"We found trackers around the border this morning while you were in the meeting!"

"What!" "We captured one, but he is laying in the clinic at this moment," Evan said and I just threw my head back so that I can look up at the ceiling. It has been years since there was drama with the council and it finally took one girl just to wake them up. Why were they so frightened of her? They looked so scared this morning once she got angry and when she mentioned that she is nothing like her parents... It looked like they wanted to piss themselves.

"Meet me at the clinic in five minutes!" I said before I headed upstairs to change my shirt. I rushed towards the clinic where Evan was already waiting on me. He showed me to the room where this guy was. Once the nurses saw us they all left the room, yet I stopped the doctor.

"Wake him up!"

"Alpha, if I wake him up know he might get blood clots!"

"I do not care, wake him up now!" I said with my glowing alpha eyes looking straight at the doctor. With a bow, she walked towards him and injected him with a drug that was going to wake him up. She wanted to leave, but I had asked that she rather stay. I needed the man alive not dead. It took a few minutes when his eyes started to go open, yet the heavy sleep was fighting with him at some point. He looked around and as soon as his eyes landed on me he turned pale.

"You were trespassing my territory so give me one good reason why I should spare you!"

"Cause, if you want to save that little girl of yours that you call mate, then you would spare me!"

"You're a tracker, I shouldn't even trust you right now!" I said taking a step closer.

"It is your choice!" he said in a cocky tone.
