Chapter 3

 I got home after I ran into my mate a few hours ago. I thought that the run would have helped, yet it only made me think of her more. Why was she back? Would she reject me? Why was I even thinking of having her as a mate after everything that happened years ago? As I walked into my study Evan was right behind me with a smirk on his face.

"Went on a run?"

"Yes, what the fuck do you want Evan?" I barked at him seeing how his facial expression changed that is when I knew that she just got my attention. He threw his hands up in surrender and then mumbled an apology.

"I ran into her!" I said.

"Our Luna, no wonder why you looked pissed!"

"Don't get me started, listen double the guards, and get the men on alert for rogues!"

"Why? Did she mention something?"

"She did not say a bloody word, but she is back for good and I want to know why!" I said as I gulped down my whiskey. He agreed, but then he had to remind me of my schedule for the day again. After he spoke I told him to meet me by the gate in an hour so that we can leave.

"Do you think that she will be there?”

 "I have no fucking idea!" I said before I left to take a shower and got dressed in my normal clothes. Today was a meeting that the council will hold to hear of any improvement that needs to be made before they leave. I did not like the idea of her returning at all. I met Evan downstairs only to find a worried look on his face. "What's up?" "The men just let me know that they caught a rogue a few minutes ago!"

"Alive?"

"Yes!" he said before I left straight towards the prison where it will be kept. Rogues are not considered human here on my land since they have killed innocent women and children and for what? As I opened the door my men bowed before they left the room. It was a young lady with golden hair and she had burn marks all over her body which was not normal for a rogue to have. "Rogue!"

"Alpha!" she said in a soft tone looking down to the ground and showing respect toward me.

 "I will give you five minutes to explain to me why you were on my territory!" I said with a smile seeing how her eyes welled up with tears.

"I. I was running from Katherine!" with those words she had my full attention.

"Why?"

"She wants answers.."

"Talk!" I screamed at her while looking at her with my alpha eyes.

"She wants answers regarding her family alpha. Word has it between the rogues that a wolf betrayed the royals!"

"That is fucking insane do you know that! I can rip your head off for such an accusation!"

"I am telling you what I know that is what you asked for isn't it!"

"Wolfs did not betray your kind!" I said before I ripped her heart out. I threw it on the floor and called my men in.

 "Hang the body on the side where you got her, maybe this will send them a message!" I said before going to wash my hands then left for the meeting. Most people had already arrived seeing from the vehicles that were standing outside the old building. I got out, making my way inside only to be met by the council. They thanked me for coming before a familiar scent hit my nose again. My wolf was howling on the inside while my human side tried to remain calm. My eyes caught her walking in through the front door. She was wearing a dark long blue dress matched with black heels that complimented her figure. I could just picture how those gorgeous long legs of hers would perfectly fit around my  waist or when I wrap them around my neck. Her black hair had light curls just like she had when I last saw her, so young and innocent,  now she looked devilishly sexy and dangerous. She gave me a smile with those black lips before I heard her say: "You should pick up your mouth from the floor before you walk dear, we don't want a useless alpha now do we?" She just knew how to press every button in my body to react to hers. The council greeted her as she had never left. I did not understand how one person could turn everything around so easily. I watched as she took a seat and I took one in next to her seeing how her smile dropped once she made eye contact with the witches. The council took a seat explaining everything and thanking Katherine for her return.

"Do any of you have something to say?" Barlow asked. "Yes, how do you want peace with her at the table?" the witch asked with a stone-cold expression we all got taken back by Katherine's laugh. What the fuck? Does she think that this is a joke? I looked at the people around the table who were now getting very silent.

"Rogues have been crossing my territory and other pack's land as well!" I said only to be met by red eyes. "Katherine, have you been aware of this?" Barlow asked yet again with concern on his face.

"Yes, quite aware council!"

"Then what are you going to do about this? I will not hesitate to kill them!" I said out of anger only to get a response that I never would have thought about.

"I once was a rogue do not forget that Alpha! I am handling that situation to be quite fair none of you are qualified in that department now are you?"

"Are you? Cause you lost that war Kat...." the witch said before Katherine had her flying from her chair and pinned up against the wall by her throat. I stood up, but once her eyes caught mine I rather took a seat.

"You might be sleeping with the fucking Alpha, but let's get one thing straight here bitch is that I am not my parents, nor will I make the same mistake as them!" she said before she let go of the poor witch who was now gasping for air. She looked at me and then back at the rest of the council.

"Mrs. De La Dici this is not how we do things around here at all!" I heard one of the council members say before his fists connects to the table. For some odd reason that triggered my wolf inside of me and within a second, I was up facing him.

"How about we calm down there pal!" I said through my gritted teeth.

"I think Mrs. De La Dici is excused from this meeting! Please leave at once!" Barlow said facing me only to hear her say:

"With pleasure!" After she walked out I looked at the rest of the members who sat in front of me with worried faces.

"What does she want?"

"I do not know, now I suggest that all of you man up.." "You're hiding something and when I do find out what it is, you better hope that you're not involved!"

"Excuse me are you threatening me?"

"No, this is simply a fucking warning!" I said to Barlow before I walked out only to find her waiting by my car. She gave me a smirk before she turned around walking to her car. I could not help but notice a symbol on her back that seemed familiar, yet I could not place it exactly. I watched as her hips swayed from one side to the other leaving my wolf restless. My feet had a mind of their own as I felt myself moving towards her car where she was about to get in, in a swift move I grabbed her by the arm pooling her into my arms. "What are you doing Katherine?"

"I am just doing what I do the best Alpha!" she said with burning eyes

"And what is that?" I asked looking straight into her eyes.

"To tear up people, I came back for answers and if I am not going to find it then I might as well rip everyone apart!" she said before she pushed me away.

"You need to think of what you are about to do Katherine!"

"What are you going to do Nick? Kill me as your kind did with my mother?" she said before I could say something she shut me up by speaking again.

"I suggest you run back to your little witch since she reeks of you Mate!" Her eyes showed the pain that I knew of. Pain that I saw once in someone's eyes a long time ago. Her eyes! She was not here just to seek revenge, but to release hell on everyone who wronged her family years ago! I got taken from my thoughts when she drove away leaving me to look at the back of her vehicle. I mind-linked Evan asking that he meet me in my study within an hour so that we can discuss our options. We at least had a few, but right now none of us were completely safe. Not with the queen of the underworld back and mad as fuck. I did not know what I feared the most for my mate or my pack. All I knew is that I had a duty to do at the end of the day, even if it means that I was going to go up against my mate that I had waited years for.
