Lydia’s POV

Lily and I looked at each other.

“Should we leave?” I asked in a soft tone.

“No,” Lily shook her head and looked up. “I’m not spoiling a perfectly good day just to find out what killed that man. It’s irrelevant to me,”

I felt differently. I really wanted to know if the elixir had killed him or not but I smiled at Lily and pocketed my phone.

“Of course. Let’s go,”

Lily gave me a grateful smile and we continued to walk in silence.

Behind us, Alexei walked slowly. He was probably surprised why we weren’t honoring the palace’s summons with urgency.

“Lydia,” Lily glanced at me.

“What would your life have been like if your mother hadn’t passed? Do you think you would have met your father?”

I thought about it for a second before shaking my head.

“No. No, I don’t. My mother was uptight. Never letting down her guard, Luna Cathy was the carefree side that balanced her,” I explained with a smile at the thought of like my mother and her best friend.
