Lydia’s POV

“Yield!” Margery hissed for the hundredth time as she whacked me with a tree branch.

“Ow!” I yelled as I moved away from the center circle she had marked. “You can’t just tell me to disappear and expect me to disappear! It doesn’t work like that!”

“Move back to the circle,” Margery commanded cooly.

With a sigh, I stepped back into the circle and folded my arms to wait for the next ‘Yield’

“I’m not commanding you to disappear,” Margery frowned. “I’m asking you to yield yourself to the shadows within you and blend with your surroundings until you’re undetectable.”

“And that—” I scoffed in disbelief and gestured with my fingers. “-that isn’t disappearing?”

“You need me to do something impossible and I’m telling you that I cannot,”

Margery moved back and began to slowly walk around me.

“Okay, infiltrate my mind and tell me what I’m thinking,”

I groaned aloud. “Margery, I’m not a mind reader! It’s impossible for me to know what’s going on in your mind!”

“Pathetic!”
