Lydia’s POV

“Darwin, why would you cancel the parade? I worked hard! The entire week planning and you cancelled it,” I shook my head in disbelief.

“Lorcan has been spotted in the pack. With the current unrest caused by Richard’s death it’s not wise for you to parade around the kingdom, giving the pack members access to attack you,”

I wanted to argue with him and yell and shout or cry. But I knew he was right.

“Darwin, I’m too tired to deal with any of this today,” I shook my head with a sigh. “I’m going to bed,”

Darwin didn’t stop me as I slowly walked past him, out of the closet and straight for the bed.

The emotions of the past week flooded me and I had no idea how to deal with any of it. I was in bed, silently waiting for Darwin to finish his shower when my phone rang.

“Hello?” I picked the call without looking at the caller Id.

The person at the other end was silent but from the sound of his breaths, I instinctively knew who was calling me.
