I shouldn’t have?

Those words went through my head for hours as I waited at the edge of the forest. It was almost noon, but Rae hadn’t come back.

What the hell did she mean by that? I shouldn’t have?

Surely, when her wolf awakened, she’d felt that bond. She’d recognised me for who I was. So why was I standing alone, naked, waiting for her to come back to me?

My senses had sharpened since I marked Rae; it was almost like Ares was on steroids. I felt other changes within me, but I couldn’t focus on them because I sensed my mate at the furthest end of the pack’s territory. I sensed her crushing disappointment, and that fucked me up. Nothing had turned out how I’d expected.

Ares was ready to hunt her down. To finally see where she lived and introduce himself to her family before taking her to the cabin. Rogue or not, they would have to recognise that I was her mate. Everyone knew finding a true mate was rare, especially for wolves like us, wolves that had fated Alpha
