Edwin set his hair one final time before stepping out of his house. He stood outside locking the doors and called Ralph. Before the call connected to Ralph, Ralph was in front of Edwin in his car. Smiling at Ralph, Edwin cut the call and got in the car.

“So, how did it go? Leila and you... last night...” Edwin asked giving a playful  smirk.

“Don’t expect much. It was a dinner date, that’s it. But I’m happy that I spent sometime with her.” Ralph said with a bright smile on his face.

“You really love her, don’t you?” Edwin scoffed.

Ralph kept quiet while his face proved that he was blushing. Edwin’s eyes widened looking at his blushed cheeks.

Edwin shouted “Bro, what am I seeing? You are blushing.” He laughed out loud.

“What’s the surprise, Ed? Don’t boys blush?” Ralph asked while focusing on the road.

Edwin continued laughing as he kept teasing Ralph. Then they reached one of their friends house, where a casual party was thrown.

As soon as they entered inside the house, a tall guy walked towards them shouting “Ed, Ralph, I’ve been waiting for you.”

“You know how Ralph drives. As slow as possible.” Edwin and Zayn laughed at Ralph.

“Unlike you guys, I follow traffic rules.” Ralph said and walked forward.

Then they started to enjoy, drinking alcohol. All their classmates were dancing and kept enjoying the party. After many minutes of dancing, Edwin and Ralph sat on the couches, drinking.

“Sometimes I wonder how I became friends with people like you.” Edwin laughed.

“What do you mean by that, Ed?”

“I mean, look at you guys, enough rich to throw parties, good status... not like me.” Edwin said looking at his friends, who were dancing.

Ralph stopped drinking with his senseless statement and he replied “Seriously, Ed? Friendship doesn’t see people’s status or the things they have. I’m really surprised with your words.”

Edwin nodded his head and continued drinking. As soon as Ralph saw Leila entering in the house, he stood from his chair mumbling “Leila.”

Leila walked towards Ralph, smiling. They hugged eachother then she greeted Edwin. Ralph and Leila, walked away to dance, leaving Edwin.

Looking at everyone dancing, he remembered Liam. He wanted to dance and enjoy with him like all others. He saw a couple kissing and his lips curved into a small smile. He opened his gallery to see Liam’s images. With a smile on his face, he kept looking at Liam’s images and kept scrolling them while imagining him beside him.

While he was in his little dreamland, Kate walked towards him that made him turn off his cell phone, abruptly. He gave a nervous smile, looking at her and he said “Hey Kate.”

She sat beside him, asking “What are you doing here while everyone is enjoying?”

He shrugged his shoulders, saying “Nothing. I’m just watching you all.”

Kate hummed as a response, and kept quiet, drinking while watching others. Edwin too kept quiet and continued drinking.

Kate asked “How about dance?”

If it was few days back, he might had accepted without even thinking for a second. From the day she proposed, he started to act consciously, as he didn’t want to raise or hurt her feelings.

“A friendly dance?” Kate asked, making him come out of his thoughts.

“Yeah... sure.” Edwin said and they both started to dance.

Kate spoke while dancing with him “Ed, I didn’t know my proposal affects our relationship this much.”

“No. No Kate. We are good.” Edwin said trying to act everything was normal.

“Don’t lie. I know, my proposal scared you. You are thinking so much to even talk to me, Ed.”

“Kate...”

Kate said “Trust me, Ed. I didn’t get hurt this much even when you rejected my proposal but seeing you, acting weird in front of me, hurts me a lot.”

Edwin held her face in between his palms, and said looking into her eyes “Kate, I’m just trying to not hurt you again. Our friendship is still the same, believe me.”

“Are you sure?” She asked.

Edwin hugged her affectionately, speaking “Of course, Kate. I already told you, nothing changes between us. Believe me.”

Kate smiled and they danced for few minutes. Then they all left the place after partying. After seeing all the couples dancing and enjoying that made him remember Liam, he desperately wanted to see him. He tried to control himself but his heart didn’t listen. He then called Liam, and after few rings, Liam answered the call.

“Hey Ed, miss me?” Liam asked.

“Li, I want to see you.” Edwin said standing from his bed.

“Now? Why? Is everything okay?”

“Yeah but... I- I want to see you right now.”

Liam didn’t accept for meet as he was still in his office, working for late night shift. Edwin kept convincing him but he didn’t accept. Finally, after a lot of begging and convincing, Liam accepted to meet and asked him to come to a place, that was near to his office.

Excitedly, Edwin reached the place and waited for Liam. As soon as Liam reached, Edwin hugged him tightly, saying “Li, you have no idea how much I wanted to see you, tonight.”

Liam pulled him out of the hug, while noticing the surroundings. He asked “Ed, what happened to you? You acted so stubborn. What’s the need to meet me now?”

“Li, I wanted to see you. I want to be with you, tonight.” Edwin said holding Liam’s hands.

Liam smiled and held Edwin’s hand, saying “I too want to be with you.”

“Then let’s go from here. At my home?” Edwin asked happily.

Liam hugged Edwin and replied “I can’t come now. I’ve works to do.”

“You can assign them to some others, right?” Edwin asked without breaking the hug.

“No, I can’t do that. Ed, it’s important.” He then stood straight looking at Edwin. “Please understand.”

Edwin was dejected with Liam’s words. He said nodding his head “Okay, Li. I understand.”

“I know you will.” Saying that Liam landed his lips on Edwin’s. After having a passionate kiss, Liam broke it smiling. He said “I’ve to go. See you again. Bye, Ed.”

“Bye Li.” Edwin said in a low voice, seeing Liam walking away from him.

Edwin stomped his foot sadly, and ran his fingers into his hair, gulping his sadness. He then walked away from there to reach the public transport. His eyes started to droop with the alcohol and drowsiness. While he was walking, he saw Ace from a distance, talking to an old man on the road. At first, he thought it was some other pondering why Ace would even talk to people like that man, but when he saw Ace’s car, he confirmed it was Ace.

His shook his head to clear his drowsiness and stood behind the wall, eavesdropping, but he couldn’t hear them. All he felt was, Ace threatening that man.

Ace left the place in his car after a minute and the man too started to go away. As soon as Ace left, Edwin walked to the man, shouting “Sir, wait.”

The man furrowed his brow seeing Edwin. He asked “You need something?”

Edwin shook his head as negative and said “I saw a guy talking to you. Is he troubling you? You can tell me, I’ll help you.”

“What? Are you okay, boy?” The man questioned.

“Of course, I am. I saw Ace threatening you. Don’t lie. What’s the problem? You don’t have to worry about anything. We can do something against him.” Edwin tried to assure him but the old man shouted “Are you insane?”

Edwin stopped his stupid talk with his shout. The man continued “No one is threatening me. I know Ace. I used to work as a watchman in the college, in which he studies. We were talking casually.”

His words felt unbelievable to Edwin. Talking casually with a watchman, was not Ace’s thing as far as Edwin knew.

“I know you are lying. He is not the person, who would be amiable with people low than his status. He is an arrogant, evil guy.” Edwin spoke.

The man shouted “What is your problem, boy? Yes, Ace is an arrogant guy but he is a good one. Only few can understand it.”

Edwin kept silent still unbelievable what the man was speaking.

The man continued “I can see the hatred towards him in your eyes. At first, I too hated him for his arrogance and his behaviour. But he helped me when he got to know my problems. He was the one, who only helped me, when I needed help. So, don’t utter another word about him.”

Edwin scoffed with his sentence and said “Still unbelievable. And yeah, just one good deed doesn’t make him god.” Then Edwin left the place, thinking about Ace.
