Chapter 7

Aвтор: Dreamy Fire
Felix turned and saw Sasha.

Just his luck.

He didn't want to argue with her, but he decided to say, "Sasha, you don't have to worry about what your father said. There's no future between us. I'll break the news to him in a month."

Sasha chuckled. "At least you're self-aware. That saves me the trouble. You'd better stick to your words, or you'll regret it when I do it my way."

Ruth chimed in, "You might not know how popular Sasha is now. She has more admirers than she can count, and many of them are from wealthy families. You're no match."

Then, she glanced at the tail lights of the disappearing Rolls-Royce Phantom. "Renting a fancy car might change your appearance, but it won't change who you are inside."

Felix nodded, relieved Sasha wasn't pursuing him. He never liked her, not three years ago, and certainly not now. Her family's company's success had only made her more arrogant and superficial.

As Felix headed into Luxe Dining, Sasha scowled, and her disdain became evident. "Are you deaf? I said you need a reservation and a membership card to dine here. Don't expect me to take you in."

However, Felix ignored her.

Sasha thought she was warning him out of kindness and felt disgusted by his ignorance.

"Ruth, let's wait a bit. If he gets kicked out and tries to blame me, it might involve even my dad."

"Good idea. We can't let him take advantage of us."

From their spot, they could see the restaurant's front desk. Felix had already walked up to it.

"Good evening, sir. May I have your membership card or phone number, please?"

Felix shook his head. "I don't have one."

Though the receptionist maintained a polite smile, there was a hint of mockery in her eyes. "I'm sorry, sir. We operate on a member reservation basis. You might want to try another restaurant."

Felix reached into his pocket and pulled out the Golden Card Wendy had given him. "Will this work?"

The receptionist's demeanor changed instantly. She became extremely respectful as she said, "Sir, my deepest apologies. With this card, you are one of our most esteemed guests. Would you prefer to dine in the main hall or a private room?"

This was the first time she'd seen someone with the Kinsley family's Golden Card. Suddenly, Felix seemed so much more attractive.

"Get me a private room," Felix replied.

Although he was dining alone and could have made do with a meal in the main hall, he didn't want to risk running into Sasha. She would definitely ruin his appetite.

Plus, he preferred a quick meal, which wouldn't disrupt the restaurant's business.

"Sir, my name is Donald, the manager of Luxe Dining. It's an honor to have you here. Please follow me," greeted Donald Peck, who had been instantly notified of the Golden Card's appearance.

"Sure."

Outside, Ruth nudged Sasha, who was engrossed in her phone.

"Hey, Sasha, what's going on? Felix's not getting kicked out but being escorted by someone who looks like the restaurant manager. Could his status be greater than we thought?"

Sasha glanced up briefly and scoffed.

"Nonsense. He probably made a fuss about wanting to dine here. The manager is likely taking him somewhere discreet to handle the situation without disturbing the other guests."

Ruth's eyes lit up. "You're right. That guy's so clueless. Luxe Dining is owned by the Kinsleys, the wealthiest people in the city. He doesn't know what he's getting himself into."

Meanwhile, Felix was led into a private room. However, his expression soured immediately. The room was so large and opulent that he felt awkward dining alone.

"Could you find a smaller room? I'm just here for a simple meal," he said.

"Of course. Please follow me."

Given that Felix possessed the Golden Card, any lapse in service could cost not only Donald's job but also the general manager's. Therefore, he quickly complied with his request.

As they retraced their steps, a woman in a long white dress walked toward them.

Her presence was commanding, and even though she wasn't deliberately showing off, her demeanor made passersby instinctively step aside, clearing a path.

Felix sighed. He only wanted to have a meal, but his luck seemed to be taking a nosedive—first running into Sasha outside, and now encountering Xena. It was starting to ruin his appetite.

Xena noticed Felix but didn't pause her stride. With a cold tone, she remarked, "To land a job at Luxe Dining must be quite an accomplishment for you."

Her arrogance was palpable, as usual.

Felix had no desire to explain to her. After all, Xena was no ordinary person. She was the formidable goddess of war. Even if Felix were the manager of Luxe Dining, it wouldn't make a difference.

Besides, their marriage was in Curtis' hands, and Felix had no intention of currying favor with her.

In fact, the sight of Felix brought Xena a sense of satisfaction, as the more he integrated into high society, the more he would understand her elevated status.

She was confident that he would eventually find the situation absurd and might even voluntarily destroy the marriage contract.

Upon entering another private room, Xena found a middle-aged man inside. He was of average height but had a sly, calculating look in his eyes.

"Xena, please take a seat. I've ordered some of your favorite dishes."

Perry Glover was Xena's uncle. After all, not just anyone could invite her out for a meal.

"Uncle Perry, don't be so formal. You've got into some trouble again, haven't you? You didn't mention it over the phone, so it must be serious."

Perry shifted awkwardly. "Let's eat first. We can discuss it while we eat."

Xena didn't press further and sat down. She then said with a serious tone, "I heard from my deputy that you've been associating closely with Kane. Just a heads-up—thread carefully.

"Kane is no ordinary man, and his background is quite tangled. Even I haven't managed to find any useful information about him. I trust you understand the implications."

Kane Guerra, also known as Lord Kane in the underground circles of Avesburgh, was a figure of immense power feared by many. Even the wealthiest families had to show him respect.

When Perry was about to respond, Xena's phone rang. It was from Xander.

"Dr. Fielding, do you have any news?"

Xena's voice was laced with anticipation, her focus moved entirely to Curtis' condition.

"Sort of. I didn't meet the miracle doctor, but I did come across a young man at Kinsley Mansion today. His medical skills, while not up to the legendary miracle doctor's standards, are impressive and might be sufficient to treat your grandfather.

"I must admit that I'm quite impressed."

Xena was surprised to learn that there was someone with medical skills surpassing Xander's and that he was just a young man.

"What's his name? Where can I find him?"

"Alas, it was partly my fault. He simply looked too young. Before treating Mr. Kinsley Senior, we had a bit of a disagreement, so I didn't manage to get his contact."Xena understood where Xander was coming from and couldn't blame him.No one would believe it when a young man claimed his medical skills were superior to Xander's, one of the top ten healers in the country."Thank you, Dr. Fielding. Jamie was stunned, as were others in the lobby who heard the words "Supreme Black Card".Sasha, too, gaped at Felix in disbelief. The Supreme Black Card was a rare status symbol. Only about 30 people in the world possessed it, each with wealth beyond imagination. So, how could Felix possibly be a holder of the Supreme Black Card? That was just absurd!Swallowing hard, Jamie stammered. He knew that even the cardholders of the next tier down, the Diamond Card, would be greeted by the bank manager at the door.Handling a Supreme Black Card was a first for him, and Jamie was beyond nervous."P-Please verify your identity."Though the standard procedure was to immediately escort Supreme Black Card holders to the VIP room and notify the bank manager, Jamie was overwhelmed by the situation and couldn't think straight."Alright," Felix agreed, placing his right hand on the machine.Sasha's mind was racing as she watched. She needed to figure out how to make amends for offending Felix

Wendy finally understood what Xander was referring to at that time. The big shot he had said needed help for her grandfather was none other than the war goddess, Xena Summers."Lady Summers, please don't misunderstand. I have no intention of keeping any help from you. However, I genuinely dare not proceed without permission from the master healer. I'm sure you know from Dr. Fielding what his temper is like."No interaction under this sky wasn't driven by interests. Xena didn't expect Wendy to explain herself so readily without excessive prodding."Just say the word, and I'll be at the Kinsley family's disposal from here on out."Wendy was shocked to the core. Such a promise was priceless beyond words. Standing before her was the first goddess of war in Dragonia who possessed supreme power. With her on their side, her family would definitely soar to great heights.Yet, as soon as she thought of Felix, a pang of guilt surged within her again."I'm so sorry, Lady Summers. This is not a m

Just then, Felix's phone rang. When Sasha and the others saw the caller ID, their fury was immediately extinguished.A phone call from Wendy Kinsley?Everyone knew of Wendy. She was the daughter of the richest man here, the drop-dead gorgeous CEO of Avesburgh, and the dream woman of countless men.Just this guy? Did he really have access to Wendy's mobile? That was beyond belief. At this point, Felix had already stepped aside to answer the call."Are you here?""In a few minutes, F-Felix. Since you're there, I've made a reservation at Zenith Pavilion. We can talk there. It's quite quiet. There's no need to change locations."Although she had Felix's permission to address him by his given name, Wendy still felt distinctly uncomfortable."Okay. I'll head over now."When he hung up, Sasha was about to burst into flames."Felix Zeller! Are you not done yet? First, you show off with an edited image. Then, you hire someone to pretend to be the richest man's daughter and call you at such a cr

Hugo's brows knitted together as his deep gaze landed on Ruth."Are you saying Felix—the guy freeloading at Sasha's—has Wendy's phone number?"Ruth shrank back in fear, while Sasha stepped in to smooth things over."Hugo, I'm afraid you've misunderstood. That guy just loves to show off. If you let me explain, I'm sure we can clear things up for you."After learning about Felix's actions at Concord Bank and his presence here, Hugo let out a disdainful sneer."That's more like it. If someone like that had access to Wendy's contact, even pigs could fly!"Ivan quickly chimed in, "You're right. It was just too much of a coincidence! We almost let that bastard fool us again."Hugo patted him on the shoulder. "How dare that piece of garbage that even Sasha despises pretend to have Wendy's number? Don't you guys agree that he needs a lesson?"Ivan caught his message without fail. He had long been thinking about teaching Felix a lesson for harboring thoughts about his woman. Now that he

The Miracle Card worked in a rather straightforward way. On its flip side were multiple layers of a special coating. Each time it was retrieved, a layer would be peeled off to reveal a new phone number. This would be Gerald's latest contact information. This system seemed to have no safeguards, yet it topped any high-tech security system. Only two people in the world could process the card for its next use—Felix and Gerald. They practiced the same unique technique, which was the only method to remove the coating.By now, the little boy had arrived at the entrance of Luxe Dining. He held the Miracle Card in his hands. The previous coating had already been peeled off by Felix, thus making it ready for use.The boy hastily stopped a heavily bejeweled woman and asked, "Excuse me, ma'am. Would you like to buy this?"Disgust instantly clouded her face."Go away! Where on earth did this little beggar come from? How useless can the security be at Luxe Dining? How could they let him linger

The Phoenix Legion was a formidable force led by Xena. Apart from the highest authorities in Dragonia, the army only answered to Xena. The legion was stationed on the outskirts of Avesburgh. They occupied a vast area and were equipped with all sorts of advanced weaponry. Whenever they were deployed, victory was guaranteed.Because her unit was based here by national orders, Xena also had to reside in Avesburgh. At this moment, Xena was in her office at the headquarters of the Phoenix Legion, reviewing some documents."There's a possibility that the S-ranked fugitive group—the Menacing Four—could make an appearance in Avesburgh in the coming days? Ha! Where did these thugs get the balls to come and make a mess in my territory?"Just then, her office door swung open, and in walked her subordinate, Belle Frost. She was drop-dead gorgeous, a stunning beauty who had been under Xena for a few years now."Milady, there's news about the miracle doctor."Xena leaped to her feet. She had

At sunset, Felix stood near a café in Avesburgh. He waited by the roadside for someone to pick him up.He was in quite a good mood now. He was clad in white from head to toe, including a pair of snow-white shoes."The old man definitely did this on purpose," he muttered. This attire was Gerald's requirement, as a distinctive mark for recognition. He strongly suspected it to be a prank Gerald was pulling on him, but he ultimately had no choice in the matter.Since the Miracle Card was still in Avesburgh, it had to be the one he handed to the little boy. Its reputation and immeasurable value had to have made it an easy sell. It didn't take long at all for it to change hands. As he pondered this, a Mercedes S500 pulled up to him. The driver's door swung open, and Ivan stepped out of the car.He scanned his surroundings and reluctantly locked eyes with Felix."Felix Zeller! What are you doing here!"As per Winston's instructions, Ivan was here to pick up someone dressed entirely in

Ginny was naturally present as well, and she spoke up at that moment. "Mr. Goldstein, no one wanted to see Justus die like that. But why did you bring your people to Longstone residence? Are you suggesting that his sudden death has something to do with us?"Joaquin's expression grew darker as he looked at her. He blamed Ginny for this, thinking that none of this would have happened if she had just agreed earlier. And now, they couldn't even determine the cause of death."No connection? That doctor from your household, Felix Zeller—he's the one responsible for Justus' death."Right then, someone spoke up from the crowd. "That's him! That's Felix Zeller!"Felix, who had been calmly sitting in a chair, finally saw Wagner standing among them. And in that moment, everything made sense."Wagner? You've gotten quite bold, huh?" Gras sneered.Wagner flinched at Gras's words, but remembering that he now had the Goldsteins backing him, he stiffened his spine and stood tall. "Cut the crap

In Cloud City, there were a few noble families. Nonetheless, behind the polite smiles, tensions surged. Infiltrating each other's estates with spies had practically become a tradition. While they rarely uncovered major secrets, the information they did gather always gave them a head start. So when the news broke, Gras didn't doubt it for a second. He jumped to his feet, furious. "This is outrageous! Their son dies, and somehow it's the Longstone family's fault?"Ryker looked just as puzzled, agreeing that the accusation made no sense. But Felix let out a quiet, weary sigh. "Mr. Longstone, I'm afraid this is probably my fault. I'm a doctor, and I've gotten a bit of attention lately. After they failed to determine the cause of Justus' death, and given our meeting earlier today, they likely saw an opportunity to drag your family into the mess." Gras's expression darkened, knowing that Felix wasn't wrong. After all, doctors could also be poisoners, and plenty of martial artists had fa

It was clear someone had said something to Justus. Otherwise, this situation wouldn't have escalated to this point.Felix said calmly, "It was a standard therapeutic massage technique, and I was blindfolded the entire time. Does that explanation satisfy you? Or would you rather find someone else capable of treating Ms. Longstone—I'll gladly step aside if you can."Justus sneered, his eyes filled with disdain. "Cut the crap, Felix. Don't act like I don't know exactly what's going through your head. Ginny's the heiress of the Longstone residence—Gras's precious jewel. Everyone knows that marrying her is like securing the entire household. Don't tell me that thought never crossed your mind.""It didn't," Felix said simply.Unfortunately, that answer was never going to satisfy Justus. He snarled, "Listen up, boy! I'm giving you three days to get the hell out of the Longstone residence. If you don't, you won't even get the chance to regret it. Everyone else might be afraid of Gras—but I

As Wagner watched Justus explode in rage, he felt an overwhelming sense of satisfaction. With what he'd just uncovered, there was no need to exaggerate—it was already explosive enough on its own. After all, Justus' future fiancée was touched in that kind of intimate way by a young, healthy doctor. Any man with a spine would lose it."But Justus," Wagner added with a smirk. "Didn't Felix just get publicly praised by the Green King?"Cloud City wasn't that big. Anyone with any influence had been keeping close tabs on Green King Manor—especially with the mystery man who walked out of Desolated Lands involved. So, the news of Felix being rewarded had already spread far and wide.Justus clenched his jaw. "So what? It's just a flash in the pan. If he was truly skilled, the Green King would've kept him. But as long as he hasn't climbed into the Green King's inner circle, I can crush him whenever I want."Wagner's grin widened. That was exactly the attitude he needed. If Justus had shown

The moment the Flame Monarch mentioned the Healer Sage, the Green King's expression shifted noticeably. "So the Sage really was living out there in seclusion... No wonder. Flame Monarch, does this mean you've taken a liking to Felix?"But the Flame Monarch waved his hand dismissively. "There's no need for that."That response made the Green King secretly rejoice. If the Flame Monarch didn't intend to recruit Felix, then he understood why—and that was perfect. It meant the opportunity to take Felix under his own wing was wide open. The night passed quietly. Felix stood beside Christopher's bedside, noticing the man's breathing had grown steady and stable. At this point, the herb had run its course and was no longer effective. But what was left inside Christopher's soul—a strange, lingering force—was exactly what Felix had hoped for.Christopher was alive but completely unconscious. The remaining energy had no regenerative properties, which meant he'd likely never wake again. For Fe

Felix wasn't the least bit surprised by the Flame Monarch's reaction, but he still feigned confusion. "Flame Monarch, I'm sorry... but I don't understand. What do you mean by soul-related injuries?"Just from that single line, Felix confirmed what he suspected—Aquamarinus had no concept of soul-based matters. Whether it was training methods or anything else, this realm hadn't yet touched that domain. The Flame Monarch stared at him, pressure radiating from his body. Felix immediately felt his limbs start to tremble under the invisible weight."You don't know? Then how could you claim to treat that man's condition?" Felix calmly pointed toward the herbs laid out on the table. "The force inside him is definitely strange. It triggered a memory... I once sensed something very similar, and it came from within that herb. It was purely instinct—when something feels familiar, there's a chance it might work."The Flame Monarch shifted his gaze to the herb, then said flatly, "Start from th

Felix gave him a direct and honest answer. "As long as I have enough herbs. I can treat him. I won't promise a full recovery, but one thing I can guarantee you is that this man won't die."For now, that was the best possible answer anyone could offer. The Flame Monarch replied, "Good. Begin. As long as you can keep him alive, you'll be handsomely rewarded."It seemed the Flame Monarch already knew something and never truly expected anyone to completely cure Christopher. Preserving his life alone would already be a feat."Flame Monarch, please reconsider!" one of the elderly doctors suddenly cut in, seething with resentment. "This boy is barely grown—how could he possibly possess such remarkable skill in medicine?"The Flame Monarch turned and gave him a cold, mocking glance. "If he can't do it, then can you?"The old man went silent. Perhaps fearing the loss of favor or acting out of sheer pride, he hesitated. Eventually, he found the courage to speak again."I admit I can't, bu

The Green King's expression changed instantly, and he turned to Felix in a hurry. "Dr. Zeller, please come with me to greet him.""Of course," Felix replied. For anyone in Aquamarinus, getting the chance to see the Flame Monarch up close was like a once-in-a-lifetime dream, and people would probably die happy just for that. Naturally, Felix put on a show of reverence as well, even if he didn't feel it deep down.As they reached the front gate, Felix saw several figures striding toward them with heavy steps. At the front of the group was a towering man, nearly nine feet tall. Even someone as built as Dave looked like a delicate bystander next to him. What stood out the most was his bright crimson hair, which flared upward like flames, making it look like his head was on fire. His facial features were fairly average, but the power behind his gaze radiated pure, undeniable authority. So, this was the Flame Monarch?Felix studied him closely. According to the rules set by the Flame Monarch, the position of Minor Kings rotated every five years. Those who made outstanding contributions could keep their titles, but anyone who fell short would have to fight for their place all over again. The Green King knew he wasn't particularly strong—he was painfully aware of that. And with the next year marking the fifth year, the pressure was mounting fast. So when Christopher appeared, it felt like fate. If he could heal this man before the Flame Monarch arrived with his elite doctors, the credit would be immense, and his reappointment would be virtually guaranteed. Anyone who had never held a Minor King title wouldn't understand just how many perks came with it. If they did, no one would give it up willingly."I can treat him," Felix said calmly. "But I can't promise a full recovery."The Green King smiled. "Do your best. Even if you can only keep him alive, that alone is worth it."Two doctors before had said that Christopher's b
