Avery's POV

I rushed downstairs, hoping to escape the tension that lingered between Alpha Red and me. But to my surprise, my grandfather was still sitting in the living room, waiting for me. I had managed to quickly arrange my hair as I made my way down, trying to compose myself.

"Sorry I'm late," I apologized, taking a seat next to my grandfather.

He waved his hand dismissively. "It's fine, sit down. Let's eat."

As we began to eat, my grandfather asked, "Did you manage to call Alpha Red?"

At the mention of his name, I felt my face flush with heat. Memories of what had happened in his room flooded my mind, and I struggled to maintain my composure.

My grandfather noticed the look on my face, but he didn't say anything. Instead, he just watched me with a knowing glint in his eye, but he didn't press the issue.

I replied, trying to sound calm, "I managed to call him, and he'll be with us shortly."
