Avery's POV

My grandfather's expression softened as he listened to my words, his eyes filled with a deep understanding and compassion. He nodded slowly, his hands still holding mine.

"I know it's hard, Avery," he said, his voice gentle. "But you have to remember that you are not alone. You have me, and you have Alpha Red. We believe in you, and we want you to stay here with us."

He paused, his eyes searching mine. "I know it's not easy to trust others, especially when you've been hurt before. But I want you to know that I'm here for you, no matter what. And I'll do everything in my power to help you prove yourself to others."

I felt a lump form in my throat as I looked at my grandfather, his words touching a deep chord within me. I knew that I still had a long way to go, but with his support, I felt a sense of hope that I hadn't felt in a long time.

"But I'm tired of always looking over my shoulder or praying and hoping to be loved like I deserve. I've done so much but I still feel l

Avery's POV I sat around the dining table, sipping my tea and listening intently as my grandfather explained the situation. The clan members were growing restless, demanding that we find the cause of the deaths and report back to them soon. The next council meeting was looming, and the pressure was mounting. My grandfather had already spoken to the elders, explaining that we needed time to investigate and gather evidence before we could bring forth a conclusive report. But he feared that the council might still insist on hearing something, anything, about our progress. My grandfather's expression was serious, his eyes lined with concern. "The clan members are getting impatient," he said. "They want answers, and they want them now."I knew that we were doing everything we could to investigate the deaths, but it was clear that the clan members were not satisfied with our progress.Alpha Red spoke up, his voice thoughtful. "Is there anywhere we can bring in even just a snippet of our fi

Avery's povAlpha Red nodded, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Don't worry, Avery," he said. "I have a plan."I was taken aback, my curiosity piqued. "What is it?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.Alpha Red's smile grew wider. "I'm going to go undercover," he said. "That way, no one will know who I am."I stared at him, my eyes wide with shock. "Is that truly wise?" I asked, my voice laced with concern. "You're well-known amongst all the packs. Everyone knows who Alpha Red is."Alpha Red chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Although everyone knows me as the notorious Alpha Red," he said, "not everyone has had the chance to physically meet me. And that's all thanks to my introverted self."I raised an eyebrow, surprised by his words. I had never thought about it that way. Alpha Red was indeed a private person, and he rarely attended social gatherings or meetings with other packs. It was possible that not everyone knew what he looked like.I sighed, feeling a sen

Avery's POV I woke up with a start, my heart racing with fear that Alpha Red had left me again, just like he always did. But as I sat up and looked around, my eyes landed on him, lying beside me, still fast asleep. I let out a sigh of relief, feeling a mix of emotions. I was happy to see him, but I knew he was leaving today to go to the other pack, and I wouldn't see him again for two days.I carefully moved closer to him, not wanting to wake him up. I smiled as I took in his sheer beauty. His jawline and cheekbones were sharp, giving him a deadly and captivating look that not only terrified people but also hypnotized them. I remembered being spellbound by his looks the first day we met, but my feelings were torn when he hurt me.Now, I don't know how to describe my feelings for him. They were complex, a mix of fear, respect, and... something more. I looked at him, taking in the strong lines of his face, the sharp angles of his features. "No one can eliminate the notorious Alpha Red," I joked, trying to lighten the mood. "They know better than to attack me."Avery shook her head at me, a small smile on her face despite the tears still welling up in her eyes. I placed a soft kiss on her lips, trying to comfort her, before gently wiping away her tears.I felt a pang of guilt for making her cry, but I understood that her connection with her mother had been strong, and her death must have devastated her. I didn't want her to cry, and I wished I could kiss her worries away, but I knew that was impossible. All I could do was make sure I returned home to her in the next two days. I held her close, feeling a sense of determination wash over me. I would do everything in my power to come back to her, to make sure she was safe and happy. Alpha Red’s POV I stood at the edge of the Red Moon Pack's territory, my eyes scanning the bustling scene before me. There were people of all sorts milling about, some dressed in fine clothes, others in tattered rags. I saw pack members, visitors, and even beggars, all going about their business. But then my gaze fell upon a group of people who made my blood run cold. They were slaves, dragged along by guards who held chains and leashes. I could see the fear and desperation in their eyes, and my heart went out to them.I had never been to the Red Moon Pack before, and I had never heard of such practices. Slavery? In a pack? It was unheard of. I was utterly confused and shocked, my mind reeling with questions. How could a pack, a community of wolves who were supposed to be a family, treat their own kind like this? What kind of alpha would allow such cruelty and injustice to flourish under their rule?I felt a surge of anger and disgust, and I knew that I had to be careful. I was here

Alpha Red's pov I followed the guard, my eyes scanning the surroundings as we walked. We eventually arrived at a place that looked like a dungeon, with cold, damp walls and a musty smell. The guard led us to a room that resembled a storeroom, with crates and boxes stacked haphazardly. The guard sneered at us, his voice dripping with malice. "Have fun with the rats," he hissed, before turning and leaving us to our fate.I sat down among the slaves, trying to blend in and gather my thoughts. I wondered what kind of work we would be doing, and what the pack's plans were. I pressed the heels of my palms against my eyes, trying to calm myself and think clearly.I knew that I had to mingle with the other slaves and gather more information. I also hoped to sneak into the pack house and uncover their plans. But for now, I just sat silently, observing my surroundings and waiting for an opportunity to strike. As I sat there, I couldn't help but think of Avery and our unborn child. I knew that

Alpha Red's POV I called out to my daughter, Power, or Rubik as I liked to call her, as she ran across her room. She tried to hide, but I was too quick. I grabbed her and swung her around, her laughter and giggles filling the air.Just as we were having the time of our lives, the door to the room opened, and Avery stepped inside. She looked around the room, taking in the mess, and her expression turned stern. She gave me and Power a disapproving glare, and we both froze, caught in the act.Avery walked towards us, her frown deepening. "What happened here?" she demanded, pointing at the mess.I pointed at Power, and she pointed right back at me. I gave her an exasperated look, but she just made a face, her eyes sparkling with mischief.Avery shook her head, a hint of a smile on her lips. "You two are something else," she said. "Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep this room tidy?"I shrugged, Power still in my arms. "It's not a burden you should always bear," I said. "Besides,

Avery's POV I stood atop the Moon Palace walls, my eyes fixed on the battle unfolding before me. The war had finally begun, and my people were fighting valiantly alongside Alpha Red's pack. I could see Alpha Red himself, his massive form standing tall at the war front, far from the main gates of the Moon Palace. The vampire monarch and his men had arrived, their dark forms swarming across the battlefield like a plague. The clash of steel on steel echoed through the air, and I could feel the ground shaking beneath my feet.Despite Alpha Red's strength and experience, I couldn't help but worry about him. The sheer number of vampire armies seemed to be pushing our lines back, and I could see the main gates of the Moon Palace coming under attack. My instincts kicked in, and I raised my arms, summoning a fierce gust of wind to block the vampires' advance. The air was filled with the sound of snarling and snapping, as our people clashed with the enemy.I fought with everything I had, but i

Alpha Red's POV Avery turned to me, her eyes sparkling with determination. "Where do you think Callista's people should stand in the Moon Palace?" she asked.I considered her question for a moment before responding. "I think they should be held back, kept out of sight from the enemy. They should be our last resort."Avery nodded, understanding my reasoning. "The dragon army is known for their ability to cause destruction by burning down the enemy. It would make the fight easier, but..."I completed her sentence, my voice low and serious. "We might not get who were truly after."Avery's eyes locked onto mine, and I could see the unspoken name hanging in the air. "The Dark Lord," she whispered.I nodded, my jaw clenched in determination. "Yes. I believe the only way to defeat the Dark Lord and his people for good is to make sure he's there before we burn the army of vampires. There's a possibility he won't show up at the war front, that he'll be the last resort as well."Avery nodded,

Avery's POV Callista walked into the meeting room, and I asked her, "Are your people prepared?"She nodded. "Yes, they're ready. However, my guards will start moving a day before the war. The north is far from where the war will take place, so we need to give them a head start."I smiled, relieved to hear this news. "Thank you, Callista. That's a big help."Just then, a guard entered the room, carrying a letter. "Avery, this just arrived for you," he said, handing me the letter.I opened it, scanning the contents. My army commander's words jumped off the page, and my heart began to pound. He wrote that his scouts had infiltrated the kingdom and discovered that the vampires had already sent half of their army to hide around the Moon Palace. They planned to wait for the rest of their forces to arrive before launching a surprise attack. But what caught my attention was the timeline - they planned to attack by tomorrow night.I felt a surge of adrenaline as I continued to read. My comman

"Or you'll regret it."I was taken aback by her sudden threat, but I quickly regained my composure. With a swift motion, I grabbed her hand and twisted it behind her back, pinning her against the wall with her face pressed against the cold stone."If anyone should be threatening anyone to never hurt Avery, it's me," I growled, my eyes locked on hers. "I don't trust you yet, Callista."Callista's voice was muffled against the wall, but I could still make out her words. "I never want to hurt Avery," she said, her tone sincere.I raised an eyebrow, my grip on her tightening. "The same applies to me," I said. "But even though we can't trust each other, we're both important in Avery's life. Which means we have to give each other the benefit of the doubt."Callista's voice was laced with a hint of desperatio

I walked over to her, my expression stoic, and sat down in front of her."What information do you have for me, Callista?" I asked, my voice firm but polite.Callista raised an eyebrow, her eyes flashing with a hint of annoyance. "I'm not your servant, Alpha Red," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. I felt a rush of excitement and relief at being reunited with him. When we finally broke apart, Alpha Red asked, "Why didn't you come back earlier? I received your letter, and I was thankful for it, but I was starting to panic."I apologized, feeling a pang of guilt for worrying him. "I'm sorry for bothering you, but there was something I had to handle, and I didn't mean to keep you waiting."Alpha Red's eyes narrowed slightly, and he asked, "Is there any reason to guess what that something was?"I shook my head, smiling wryly. "It's exactly what you're thinking. It's about the upcoming war. I had to check on the pack's progress and see how they're holding up."Alpha Red's expression turned serious, and he asked, "What's the update?"I filled him in on my conversation with Darius, telli
