“The meeting was charming, if only a little gauche.”

Daisy’s POV

A knife would be too blunt to cut through tension in the room, we needed a chainsaw, handled by our finest warrior to do that.

I looked desperately at Priya, hoping that she would crack one of her infamous jokes, but her facial expression was anything but jovial.

I didn’t even bother looking at Brittany, I could already feel the death glare from her eyes, directed towards Astrid.

“Why don’t we get the moon in the day and the sun at night?” I said, cringing at my attempt to break the ice.

Priya was the first to react, her loud laughter echoing through the air.

“How do you think of this stuff?” she chuckled.

“moon at day and sun at night,” she repeated, shaking her head at the absurdity of it.

I smiled, feeling proud of myself for breaking the ice, but the feeling was gone as soon as I felt it.
