CHAPTER 4

Gracia’s POV

“This is impossible!” I slammed the marriage letter on my desk in anger.

“Why now of all time and why him, of all people?” I queried, looking like a confused woman.

Everyone knew Alpha Moses, he was known to be ruthless and fearless. He was also an Alpha that ruled with greed and killed for selfish desires and reasons.

I despise him even though we only met once when there was an annual wolf gathering, I didn’t want to see him after that one time we met. He changed so well as soon as leadership fell in his hand, I wouldn’t have believed hearsay but I did especially when he beheaded his first wife out of desire. He had no reason for doing that, he just wanted her out of his life.

That man? Never! I can never marry him.

“My lord, he is requesting to meet with you and Master by noon tomorrow morning.” Noah’s voice found its way into the room again and I narrowed my gaze at him.

“Why does he think I will come?” I raised an annoying brow.

“My lord, you know how arrogant and tyrannical Alpha Moses can be, it would be best to meet with him and listen.” Stella said with a deep sigh.

“But, I don’t want to get married! Not now!” I shook my head in disagreement.

“I haven't found my mate yet so I can’t get married to someone I don’t know!” I began.

“Going to that meeting only proves that I’m interested in getting married to him which is evidently wrong.” I said to them sternly.

“Please, my lord.” they fell on my knees, begging for my approval.

I rubbed my forehead in both anger and confusion until I finally got the strength to speak again.

“Fine! But the meeting has to be in my father's chamber because of his ill health.” I informed them vividly, they rose up looking content.

“ I will send your reply to him now.” Noah said.

“Make sure to also add more security in the chambers during these times, we can’t trust him fully.” I warned cautiously.

“Yes, my lord.” Noah bowed and left, I crashed on my seat as Stella rushed to me.

“My lady…” she shouldered me.

“I thought I would be able to enjoy independence in leadership. I don’t want to get married so fast.” I complained sadly to her, she softly caressed my arm.

“I would want you to get married to either your mate or any man that loves you but not Moses.” she shook her head.

“It will not end well, that’s the only reason I’m against it.” She explained her point of view and I sighed.

“I don’t want anyone. I want to be my father’s daughter forever and the Alpha of Wind Scarlet pack.” I said.

“But that’s not possible, you will need an heir to carry on your legacy.” she informed me sadly and I shook my head.

I don’t intend to pass the burden to my children, they would be free to live a peaceful life away from power. I didn’t see heir or children as anything.

My father passed it over to him because I was anxious for it and wanted it, but I don't want my children to do it. That's the main reason I don’t need an heir.

“We have to be prepared for the meeting tomorrow.” she said and I agreed by humming.

I was so eager to call off his request that I was the first to wake my father up the next morning. Based on the physician, he wasn’t strong at all but he continued keeping a strong fit in order not to give room to his enemies.

“Are you so anxious?” he smirked as he stepped into the well ventilated living room.

My mother supported him until he sat on the armchair and breathed heavily.

“I’m not.” I shook my head.

“I don’t want to get married.” I spilled the truth and he laughed a belly laugh.

“Why? don’t you want to give me grandchildren before I die?” he questioned.

“Dad, you're not going to die.” I called him out of his ill thinking and he laughed again.

“You should be happy that you are about to get married. Though he is scary and has a pretty bad record, he is still a man.” he smirked and I shook my head.

Truly, old age has its way of confusing people.

“My lord, Master, he is here.” Noah stepped into the room after a soft knock and announced, I exchanged sharp nods with my father.

“I will let him in then.” He left and we faced my mother as if we planned it.

“I know, I know I'm not supposed to be here. I’m inside.” she said sarcastically, fringing annoyance as she went into her husband’s inner chamber; my father and I laughed at the one that fit.

“Is she jealous that our pony is about to get married?” my father asked rhetorically and I shot him a dead stare.

“DAD!” he laughed, apologizing sarcastically.

Few minutes later, someone stepped into the room. Not just anyone but the bastard that wanted to marry me, walking with pride and evading the intimidating aura all around him, his eyes were filled with dominance. No doubt, he was handsome and had a chin face. Tall and muscular, if he was different from the person i knew; i would definitely drool on his golden sharp eyes.

He cleared his throat as soon as he got closer to us, my father showed him a seat which he sat on.

“According to your letter, you requested for my child’s hand in marriage.” my father began after a few moments.

“What if she refuses because you are not her mate.” my father asked cryptically.

“Refuse me? Who does that?” he smirked, looking so proud which irked me.

“If she doesn’t say yes, the Wind Scarlet pack you see today you shall see it no more.” he scorned us.

“What….” I wanted to speak but my father grabbed my hand.

“Do you love my daughter?” My father asked him.

How could he love me when we only met once!? He smirked again, as though he was mocking my father.

“Love?” he shook his head.

“She attracted me for some reason and I must have her.” he spat vividly.

“And if I say no!” I asked him in anger because he was beginning to get ahead of himself.

“I will start by taking your dear parents' life before I start from the main pack.” he sneered devilishly, shooting me an achieving smile that everything he wanted was under his feet.

“You don’t…!” again, my father stopped me from giving this brute a piece of my mind.

He stood up from the single couch.

“I will say this again..” he locked my eyes.

“I must marry this woman.” His last words hit my heart like a time-bomb, I stuttered helplessly unable to find the right word.
