Chapter 8

Well it's been another long day as I get back to my room to very quickly shower and get ready for the ball.

We started our day before the sun had even risen, once we got to the packhouse we didn't really stop, only for a quick bite to eat from the packhouse lunchroom again, but there was still so much to check was perfect. Must have checked the seating plan and name cards at least 4 times. Setting the tables and spot checking the gold cutlery and glassware, no detail was too small when so many alphas, lunas, betas, heads of security plus spouses and of age offspring would be in attendance tonight looking and judging us.

Everyone seemed happy with their work and the end result.

"Nothing more we can do, that's it. Go home you two. See you back here in an hour looking your best" Alpha winked at us as we waved bye for now.

Now standing in my bedroom, my hand on the door handle, I can hear father and Pauline's muffled voices downstairs. I take a deep breath and turn the handle, as I step out into the hallway I become very aware and paranoid of the sound of my heels. Slowly, I descend the staircase. I go to pick up the keys to find father already holding them.

"Not tonight, I'm driving" fine by me I think til I realise, that means I'll be in the back of the car with Pauline, great. When Pauline sees my dress, hair, makeup and shoe, I can see by the look on her face she isn't impressed.

Logan POV

Pauline is going on about something, I'm not really listening. Looking at her and what she decided to wear tonight, somehow she's managed to look boring, whoris and over the top all at once. I can hear Charlie opening her door and slowly, quietly coming down stairs, as I flip the keys over in my hand. Still not really listening to Pauline, I half hear her comment and complain that I'm driving. I was going to book us a car but I wanted to drive for once. Feeling Charlie's nerves as she reached the last step, I headed her way knowing she'd be looking for the car keys.

"Not tonight, I'm driving" she looked happy for a split second then mind link to me "if Pauline sits in the back, can I sit in the front please?" I nod, as Pauline follows me and looks at my daughter. Before she has a chance to say anything, I comment on Charlie's appearance.

" You look lovely, perfectly acceptable" I tell her "it suits you" winking at her. Her cheek go a little red at my words "good let's go then " gesturing them both towards the door. As I do, Charlie glances at Pauline, then she tenses up. What did she just link to her. I quickly mind-link her " You look beautiful" as Pauline walks out the front door. The corner of Charlie's mouth turns up, just slightly as we follow out the door.

Pauline POV

Why is he driving for fuck sakes. Well she's not sitting in the back with me that's for sure, when she tries to I'll growl.

I follow Logan out the room to see what hideous flumpie, granny dress she's got on, only to see her in a classic, black, lace dress, with the v neckline just right for her figure, any lower and she would be showing to much off, any higher it would be boring and unflattering.

"You look lovely, perfectly acceptable. It suits you" Logan tells her.

"Yeah, perfectly acceptable for a slapper " I mind-link at her. That did it, she looks uncomfortable, good we can go now.

    Chilli POVAs we get back to our table, Erin claps and we wave her off.     2 months laterChilli POVPauline has been more of a bitch than normal. She's been on me constantly, since the ball and with father being away with the alphas on their tour of other packs, she seems annoyed with me because I've ruined her plans of having the house to herself for twelve weeks.     It didn't last long, as they asked after Chilli straight away. We told them she became ill the day before the tour started, and sadly she's not well enough to join us part way through the tour, according to Pauline.     I feel scratching to the door of my mind, like something is trying to get in. Opening my eyes and looking down at my wrists, the blood flow has slowed, nearly stopped. Hu? I think to myself, shouldn't I be dead them? As I stare at the blood colecting by the drain, I notice something isn't right, my blood, there's something weird about it, its darker than it should be and what is that? Quickly, I reach up and turn the shower off, before the water can wash away any more off my blood. With the water off I examine the foreign substance that was in my veins.     Elias POV That was brutal, oh my goddess do I hurt, I haven't hurt this much from training since, shit, I don't know when.
