Chapter 6 Unexpected

That’s it! I made my mind. I need to divorce him. Staying in this relationship it’s like deja-vu. Even if he rejected her this time, that is not helping me at all. She is still here, isn’t she? She will push herself over him until he can't live without her anymore.

His stupid wolf wants his fated mate.

So, yeah, there is no need for me to make the same mistakes again. Old habits die hard... I guess. She will frame again so why not take care of my safety by myself? Why not show them what it means to work against a woman who love with all her heart a fucking traitor husband.

Adam will never control me over life or death. I will be in control of my actions!

“That’s more like it, girl!” Kelly says and I can almost imagine her waving her tail but soon she asks me a little bit confused.

“But how are we going to do that?”

Oh, Kelly! What I am going to do with you. You are so pure that you won’t like this.

“I will take his Alpha position!” I tell her as if this is nothing.

“WHAT?” and I guess she just fainted on the floor of my brain, or wherever she is right now.

“I didn’t faint, Nat!” she yells. “But how will you do that?”

“You are not judging me for my decision?” I ask in shock. I thought that she would try to stop me, and tell me that this is too much.

“No, Nat.” and her voice is soft but kind of broken.

“They took too much from us. Now is time to take back what was ours. I guess karma is a bitch. We were taken by surprise in our former life, now is their time to have the shock of their lives. Take his pack!” she says with a lot of conviction . “In the end he never cared about this pack. We did all the hard work and he was only after power.”

And I would hug her if she would be in front of my eyes but I can’t, but I am so proud of her.

“But how will we do that, Nat?” she asks me in the end after we both calmed down.

Well…actually I have a plan.

“The Annual Alpha Council meeting is in just a few days .” I tell Kelly even if she already knows that .”We need to make a good impression there and gain support from other Alpha wolves.”

“But will that be enough?” Kelly asks me a little bit scared by the repercussions of our deeds.

“If the most important alpha wolves from our world will support me, nothing will stay in front of our goal, Kelly. I met the beta of the Alpha of Shadow Pack in the past. HIs Alpha is the strongest Alpha I ever met. I will talk with him to help me. I will explain everything to him and I will find a way to make him accept my proposal.”

“But” Kelly whispers. “We are not from the same league as him. We can’t compare with him”

“Who says that?” I ask and I mean it.

“Nothing will stay in our way this time , Kelly. IN our former life we were lambs while everyone else were the hungry wolves and we ended up eaten.. Now I am the predator. Everything is fair in love and war, but here it's not about love anymore, so I don’t care!”

“Then...”she whispers again. “Call that man beta. What was his name? Evan?”

“Evan Leonard. Alexander Stepanek’s beta. He looked like a nice guy when I first met him. I will call him.” I say because at the last council meeting he was damned eager to give me his phone number and it must be fate about that, because now it is damned useful to have it.

I searched for his number in my agenda and here it is. Evan Leonardo.

“Call him!” Kelly commands me and I am surprised by how eager she is to do this.

And now is now. There is no point back from here.

“Call him!”

And that’s it. I pressed his number.

Alexander Stepanek POV

“She was there, man,” I told Evan. “Right under my eyes. She just appeared out of nowhere. I was just passing through when I saw her watching the moon and the stars, wearing nothing, as if she just knew that I needed to see her this way. I'm in love. I tell you.” I say grinning like a stupid but I searched for this girl for years and this is the first time I saw her again.

I was on my way back to my pack after a long run through the woods. I never thought that I would ever find her again but I did it. I watched her for minutes. I analyzed every single part of her body, imagining myself with her but right when I thought that she would allow me to come close to her she felt my presence and ran away and I knew that it was not the time to go after her.

I don’t want to scare her. She was on Red Blood territory. At least now I know where she lives. I know where to search for her.

“The Red Blood Pack you said?” Evan asks me and he gives me a strange look.

“Yeah, we never had business with that pack, but for that girl I will find a way so that Alpha Hawkins will allow me to visit his pack.”

“Maybe you should talk with Luna instead,” Evan mocks me.

“Why would I do that?” I ask him, lifting an eyebrow.

“Because Adam Hawkins is pathetic, but his Luna is something else” he says and I never saw him talking so nicely about a woman, or better said about someone else's woman.

“She is a very beautiful and powerful woman, man. She leads that pack, not that stupid of Hawkins. Without her Adam Hawkins is nothing.”

And hearing him saying that I started to laugh. She can’t be so good, as Evan says.

“Let that woman alone” I tell him “I was telling you that I just met the love of my life and you are changing the subject here, taking another woman in our discussion.” but just as I was scolding him his phone rang and he was looking at his phone with his mouth wide open.

“I need to answer this, excuse me” he says and I can see his perplexed look.

“Yes…” he says with half of his voice , but in a soft voice and that makes me look at him in horror. Evan is never like this. What the hell is going on? Who called him?

“Yes, he is here” He says and now is now? Whoever is on the other side of the phone is looking for me?

“Alex,” he says “Someone wants to talk with you” and I can see his throat moving up and down, but I am not in the mood to talk with anyone so I push Evan’s hand and almost growling at him I say.

“I was just confessing to you that I had the encounter of my life and you are interrupting me with this? Well end that phone and tell whoever is calling you to call later.” and now I am pissed off. I thought that he would be glad for me. That Evan will listen to me.

“Man” he says, putting his hand over the microphone so that whoever is calling does not hear what he is telling me. Please. Take this call.”

What the hell is wrong with him?

He never asked for something like this. A lot of people call me trying to reach me to help them, and he would end the call every single time, but not this time. So who the hell called him?

I grab the phone from his hand and pointing my finger in his direction I say.

“After this you will listen to my story, am I clear?”

“Yeah, yeah, Alex..I will listen to your babycryings don’t worry” he mocks me “Now take the call.”

“I am listening” I say without any introduction and that it would better be important or I am going to kick Evan’s ass but nothing could prepare me for what came next.

“Alpha Stepanek '' the most sensual voice I ever heard said. “My name is Natalie Hawkins. I am Luna of the Red Blood Pack and I need ten minutes to talk with you.”

What the hell? The woman Evan was telling me about just called?

“Did you know that she will call?” I ask Evan using our mindlink but he just shakes his head.

“No, this is surprising to me too” he says and taking the phone with me, I move to my office window and look outside.

Why would this Luna call me so suddenly?

“Look, Alpha Stepanek” she says without another ado. “I know that you are busy so I am not going to make you lose your time so I will be direct. I need your help”

But that made me laugh.

“How unexpected,” I say, mocking her. “You and another ten Alpha wolves” but she takes the lead and puts me in a corner.

“I am not calling you at my husband's request” she says and now I just stop and look at Evan. “It’s me who needs your help. I want to divorce and I need help for that”

And call me a jerk but I can’t hold myself and ask this woman, that I didn't even met , but I ask her:

“And do you want me to take his place and give you a little bit of happiness” and I barely refrain from laughing while Evan is making some strange eyes.

“I will give you my address and wait for you if you want to cheat on him and you need my ..."installation" for that and make him divorce you”

“You are a fucking jerk!” she growled at me and sent me to my origins , right into my mother’s womb and ended the call just like that without another word.

“What the hell was that?” Evan asked me and came closer and took back his phone and stared at the dark display.

“She just hung up, cursing me” I told him, completely pissed off. “She ruined my mood and even cursed my mother. What the hell is wrong with that crazy rude woman?” I ask him but he is just as confused as I am.

“Anyway” I tell him “She is not important. I was telling you about the love of my life when that horrible woman disturbed our conversation. So..” and now I am in my good mood again, thinking of that angel that appeared in front of my eyes today.

“Man, you need to search for her” I tell Evan “How many red-haired women can be in the Red Blood Pack or around that pack?” I ask and I feel the excitement in my heart but also the disappointment because of what happened today.

The woman from the forest saved my life when I was just ten years old. I remember her scent and her hair and her beautiful eyes as if this happened just yesterday. But tonight in the forest she got scared of me. She didn’t recognize my presence. She didn’t even let me present myself to her. To tell her how much I waited for her. How much I longed for her.

“Man, don’t be sad,” Evan says and taps my shoulder.

“I mean it, Alex. We will find her!” He tells me and walks to the door.

“I will look for that woman until we find her.” and saying that he closed the door and left.

I am twenty one years old. In the last eleven years I lived searching for my savior and dreamed about her every single night.

I lived without her most of my life. Don’t you think Moon Goddess that now would be the time to give me what I want?
