Chapter 18Ramses looked straight back at the blonde pet. Her heart started to beat erratically again, but she remained calm on the outside. “That’s a great idea. This one looks perfect for you as well, brother.” Ramses said. I snapped and replaced her old dirty white collar with a matching collar to Ambrosias. It was rose gold and littered with diamonds. The end of the leash was in my hand. “Come.” I said, and she walked down off the showroom stage, careful to stay two feet behind me as we walked. “And what about you, brother?” I said to Ramses. He walked around the corner to a lineup of girls further back from where I was and stopped us in front of a gorgeous redhead with freckles scattered across her nose and shoulders. Her hair was short and her eyes were a shocking emerald, almost electric. She was completely terrified, and my Vampire side was pushing to get to her. “She’s fucking perfect for you, brother.” I said. He snapped and exchanged her dirty collar for a bronze collar
Chapter 19(Ambrosia) Once I got to the top of the stairs I turned and looked back at Rowen. He was looking at me, and I just smiled at him. I mouthed the words ‘thank you’ again, just so he knew how much I appreciated him. I knew Jade from our time at the pet store. But Amethyst was basically my best friend, and for him to pick her out without knowing who she was to me, was beyond amazing. We knew we were fucked when we ended up in the pet store to begin with. I think everyone there had that existential feeling of doom and dread. I mean, we were brought up basically to become a Vampire's blood bag. They told us multiple times that we could possibly die from too much blood loss, or worse. We just had to deal with it. That was life and there wasn't much more to it. Amethyst and I just tried to keep our heads up. We decided that if our life was doomed to be a Vampire's pet, then we were going to be the best pets we co
Chapter 20I followed, curious as to why he would want me to join him in his office. But I wasn’t about to ask questions. We got down the stairs and into his office. I was familiar with this room, as I had hidden in here the first time he chased me and fed from me. He sat down at his computer. I noticed it was actually three monitors displayed across his large L shaped desk. He then nodded for me to come sit with him. I walked over and sat down on his lap. “I’m sorry, doll. You’re going to be bored for a bit. I can’t concentrate, and I'm hoping that your presence might help me.” He said, while pulling the ponytail out of my hair, letting it fall straight down. I looked at the computer screens to see what he was preparing and it looked like a spreadsheet of some sort. He wasn't editing it, just reviewing it. It looked very boring, indeed. He ran his hand through my hair while he clicked around with his mouse, scrolling and changing pages. I was sitting sideways on his lap with my
Chapter 21(Rowen) My eyes fluttered open as I recalled the events of the night prior. I was awoken by Ambrosia’s increasing heart rate and relatively quiet whimpers. I materialized to her bedroom door, but in the dark she couldn’t see me. Peculiar things, Humans were. She seemed to have a routine after a nightmare. She had done the same thing twice in a row now. Went to the bathroom, splashed water on her face, got her pillow and blanket and went to the couch. Except this time, she decided to open her curtain and look out the window. This was after lying restlessly on the couch for a bit. With the full moon light shining in the windowsill, it gave her the perfect opportunity to gaze outside at the sleeping city below. She hadn’t done this the last time.I watched as she rested her head against the glass for a while. Then she got up, retrieved her pillow, blanket, and the small black book she had in her hand last night when I approached her. She adjusted her blanket and pill
Chapter 22I stepped into my coven meeting and everyone went silent. I was getting strange looks from my priests. I expected this as they were looking at my now blood red eyes with a rose gold tint… Yet, no one dared say a word. I didn’t bring it up either. I just carried on the meeting like normal, as if nothing was different. I educated everyone once again about the amulet and The Others. No one had found out anything that could help us. They were all aware of the extra security and the hope to figure out a way to stop The Others from retrieving the amulet, and opening Pandora's Box. I let them all know I would be in touch with more updates in two weeks. And if anyone gets wind of anything, they are to mind link me immediately with the information. As we were leaving my second in command, Nico, approached me regarding my eyes. He would be the only one who dared to ask. “They are the product of owning a pet.” I said. “You bought a pet? What?” He asked. He was surprised, I could te
Chapter 23“Ok… Uh, anywhere?” He said. I shrugged my shoulders. “I like to ask them where they want to be bitten. They seem to prefer the neck, but you’ll see why once you get in there.” I said. He turned and faced Amethyst. She looked back at me for a second, wanting permission to speak. “You may speak freely, princess.” I said. She nodded to me, then turned back to Nico. “Would you like me to get on your lap? That will make it easier.” She said softly. “Uh, yea, ok.” He said and sat back against the couch while Amethyst climbed into his lap, straddling him. She moved her hair out of the way to the other side, and turned her neck to him. He did the same thing me and my brother did. Ran his fingers along the vein in her neck, as if looking for the perfect spot, causing her to shudder. Once he found it he just sank his fangs in. She gasped and tensed up, like they do at first, and then relaxed. He wrapped his hand in her hair to hold her neck at a better angle. She held onto his
Chapter 24That night I didn’t sleep much. I could hear Amethyst's slow and steady heartbeat in the room to my left, and Ambrosias erratic heartbeat in the room to my right. Amethyst never had nightmares, she slept easily and without issue. Ambrosia, on the other hand, still seemed to suffer. I offered for her to sleep in my room with me, but she insisted that she sleep in her own room. I was lying in my bed thinking about everything Amethyst had said about The Others and the Ringmaster, Claude, that it wasn’t like I was asleep anyways. I knew Ambrosia didn’t get much sleep after she woke up from a nightmare, because I had watched her night after night with the same style of routine. None of it involved going back to sleep right away. Her heartbeat was quickly getting more erratic and I decided to try something, just to see what would happen. I materialized into her room, next to her bed. I slowly climbed into bed with her, careful not to wake her. She was mumbling something in he
Chapter 25Amethyst was going to hate me for it, but I already had a way to get him to talk. Katrina and I finished eating and decided to walk around the city for a bit, which may have been the worst idea I had today. With nothing else to really discuss but our burning desire for each other due to the fucking mark, it made for an awkward afternoon. Katrina didn’t say much either, I think she was just happy to be around me at all. Though the mark had finally started to fade just a little, that didn’t make its pull any less strong. God, I'm such an idiot. My emotions would surely be the death of me someday. There were so many times that I cursed agreeing to hang out with her. It would be so much easier just to let her be. The further from each other we were, the less mark affected me. For her, she would still struggle and unfortunately, there was nothing I could do about that… But I could ignore it at least. The only time in my life that I have ever hated this fucking mark, was righ
Chapter 51“I-I didn’t know!” I shouted, trying to convince them. “It makes sense now, it’s how you have magic. It’s why no one has come looking for you. They can’t get in here when you have the only key that opens this Box.” Andres said. The playful, boyish tone he once carried was completely gone from his voice. Rather than sounding like a 19 year old boy, he had the husky voice and powerful tone of someone who had lived a millennia. I instantly panicked. I had to try and play this off or I was going to be killed right here, right now. “I don’t have a fucking amulet, you would have seen it on me by now if I had it! I’ve been here for months!” I huffed, trying to defend myself, but not sound too guilty. They didn’t need to know that it was cloaked in magic, that could stay a secret. But I wouldn’t be lying if they searched me because they would never find it. I looked at Dominik, his face was hard and unyielding. It reminded me of when I first came here, the look he gave me when I
Chapter 50I tuned back to the conversation that Dominik was having with his brother Andres. We were in town getting an array of items on the shopping list for Hilda, and it was taking quite a while. We had to go to like five stores and collect a plethora of items from each one. This list was at least triple the size of that list Dominik and I had gotten last time. That's why all three of us went, it was going to be a while. I don’t even know what they were arguing about, but they started punching each other and I just laughed because I was totally confused. These two did not act like they were both millennia or more old Angels. They acted like kids my age, and I got a crack out of it every time I noticed it. How can someone so old, still seem so young? Well, two people at that? It was insane. Once they were done punching each other they called a truce and we entered the next store. Once we got everything we needed it was finally time to be done. We started heading back to the hous
Chapter 49“Amuletum dicimus contradixerit tibi adduc velatos te et domum tuam. Tu nos iubes?” The Witches started chanting. I was impatiently waiting, but nothing seemed to be happening. They continued chanting and a green light appeared above them for a split second and then it was gone. But it sent an energy blast that flung books off the shelves in my library. It also knocked the three Witches back, breaking the circle and stopping the chanting. Katrina looked up at me from the floor. “I’m sorry, Rowen. It didn’t work. The amulet isn’t reachable by magic.” She said. I sighed out loud. “What do we do now?” I asked, eager to get any reply that would bring Ambrosia home. “I-I don’t know… Wait!” Katrina cried. My eyes shot up to Katrina, waiting for her to talk. “Give me something sharp, I need to cut myself.” She said, holding her hand out. I raised an eyebrow at her, but did as she asked and snapped to produce a very sharp but dainty knife, and handed it to her. “Shadows, I summo
Chapter 48(Rowen)The Vampires were of help, they did let us know the location they planned to take Ambrosia, which was different from the warehouse location we had already gotten out of them. We sent our armies to infiltrate both locations and came up empty handed. Ambrosia was not located at either of the locations, but we did manage to take out some more of The Others. Luckily, we were able to get some of the other plans they had stored away as well. Apparently, their operation was a lot bigger and deeper seeded than we expected. They had a lot more plans than just opening Pandora’s Box. These guys were like one of those damn cults on crack. They have locations scattered throughout Rome, and even in the states. It’s insane how deep their seeds go. It had been 12 days, and we hadn’t gotten an inkling as to where Ambrosia could be. I knew she was alive, I could feel her presence anytime I tried to materialize to her, but she was just out of reach. It was the strangest thing. “Br
Chapter 47 I had no idea when I dozed off, but thankfully I didn’t dream at all. I have no idea how long I slept, but when I woke up I was curled up next to Dominik. He had his arms around me and his head was resting on top of my head. We were in the same position we ended the night in with our feet on the footrest. It took me a moment to register where I was and what I was doing before I suddenly realized and moved out of his grasp. I didn’t say anything to him, but he started laughing when he woke up and realized what was going on. “You don’t have to run away, I don’t bite.” He cackled. I just laughed. Ok, so he wasn’t mad. How did we fall asleep like that anyways? At least I got some sleep… That was all I could think of. I could smell breakfast cooking and realized that we were the last ones to be awake. My cheeks turned red when I realized that everyone in the house had to have seen us this morning because they had to pass through the living room to get to the kitchen. No
Chapter 46“Come sit down, child.” The older woman said, motioning at an empty spot on the couch next to the dark haired man. I reluctantly walked over and I could feel his eyes, well, both of theirs, trained straight onto me. I just tried to ignore it. I had no idea what type of creatures they were, but honestly, I was afraid. The second I took my seat an intense feeling of doom settled into my chest and stomach. I was used to feeling fear around supernatural creatures. I was Human, it was normal for me. But this was so much worse, so much more intense. I knew he could tell I was afraid by the way I was acting. I was trying to keep my cool but It was exceedingly difficult. Neither of the angelic men said a word to me at first. They kept their eyes trained on me though, as if I was going to do something crazy. “You’re a pet?” The dark haired one finally said, breaking the awkward silence. My hand went straight to my collar that I just now noticed was still on. They never removed i
Chapter 45Ramses came back soon after letting me know he checked on Katrina and Jade. They were both asleep and he didn’t bother waking them. He would bring them over in the morning. He then proceeded to pace next to me. “Talk to me brother, think out loud. Let’s work on this together.” He said. Ramses was always my closest brother. We just got along so well, and he understood me on a lot of levels, it felt like. Not that my other brothers didn’t, but I was just never as close with them as I was Ramses. I could relate to all of them though. I had my fair share of cool and calculated moments like Raphael, or my unyielding fiery moments like Raziel. I could be a jokester and life of the party like Ramses, or I could be quiet and reserved, hidden in the background, more like myself. The way that I was, was really dependent on the moment. Right now, I was fiery and unyielding on the inside, yet quiet and reserved on the outside. A fitting set of emotions for what I’m going through. Ma
Chapter 44(Ambrosia)I became aware of my surroundings slowly. But when the memories of last night started to come back through my mind, I tried to act like I wasn’t awake yet. I wanted to feel out where I had been taken, before I just announced to the world that I was awake. I kept my eyes shut and just listened, trying to keep my breath as calm and slow as it had been. I wasn’t sure if there were Vampires here, and they would hear my heart beating faster if I started to panic. It felt like I was lying in a bed of some sort. I could feel covers over my torso and I was at a comfortable temperature. So that was a good thing, right? I noted the smell of something cooking. I had no idea what it was. Something I had never smelt before, but it smelled like It would be good if I were to eat it. My stomach grumbled just then and gave away my position. I tried not to panic but I couldn’t help it. My heart rate spiked and a soft voice infiltrated my ears. “Ah, good, you’re awake. I was wo
Chapter 43I threw green fireballs and the first three that were heading my way, knocking them back into the wall behind them. This caused pictures to come crashing down from the wall above them. Glass shattered as they fell and skid across the floor in all directions. I then took one in a green fireball and snapped his neck, tossing his body aside. He wouldn’t actually die unless I decapitated him. He would wake up, but it wouldn’t be for a few hours. The other two were unconscious on the floor so I left them there and proceeded to use magic to pick up my dining table and slam it into the next two Vampire Hybrids that walked through my kitchen door. The act shattered my table, sending wood splinters flying through the air and into the walls. Then I heard chanting in Latin. I turned to see two Vampires raising the dead. “Fucking Necromancer Hybrids?” I snarled to Viper. “What in the fuck are The Others doing?” Viper hissed. “That is a good fucking question.” I huffed as I snapped t
