Chapter 26

Oh my god, I need to get the fuck out of here. I thought. It made me wonder just how much time had passed before Katrina got sent back… And how much time has passed in total since I've been gone. It made me worried that the magical tether could break at any time, trapping me forever.

“Listen, do any of you have any idea how to get out of here?” I asked in a hushed tone. They look at each other as if they were trying to decide whether to trust me or not. Then one of the girls, a quieter, more shy, dark haired girl, stepped in between them and up to me.

“I don’t know how credible this is, but there is talk of a secret portal that The Ancestors do not have knowledge of. If you could somehow find it, and activate it, you could step through and get back to your tethered body.” She whispered.

“That’s all we can say though.” One of the other girls hissed, and she grabbed her group and wandered to the other side of the dance floor, far away from me. “This is good, this is good ne

Chapter 27Ok good, that should help her out. Now back to my quest at hand! I thought. “Shit.” I said out loud. Bree ran off, and I was going to ask her to help me. I know she’s a Witch, and I know she is pissed about the hybrid transition not working. She would be perfect with a vendetta against The Ancestors to help me open a portal. Now to just find her. I headed in the direction she ran towards, and attempted to follow her steps. But I had no idea where she would have gone. Tracking on The Otherside was next to impossible due to the amount of dirt rising from the ground on a consistent basis. I couldn’t smell her or hear her when I tried. I could just hear the slithering of The Shadows in the distance. Even though they just helped me, I still felt weird about them. I probably always would. I will never understand how my brother, Raziel, calls them so often. They are like his pets. The thought made me shudder. Maybe he was a lot closer to the darkness than I would ever be... I g

Chapter 28“Who said I was going to the portal?” I said sarcastically, as I locked eyes with the red haired bartender from earlier. He didn’t look amused. “No one had to say you were, it’s obvious. What else would you be doing this far away?” He huffed.“I was obviously exploring. Can’t you see all the sightseeing this ghost town has to offer?” I replied, while motioning at all of the barren land in front of me. I was definitely being sarcastic at this point. He looked at me with a death glare. “Who even are you? Why do you want out of here so badly anyways?” I asked him. He looked at me for a moment as if he was contemplating whether or not to answer me truthfully.“My name is Sage and I was banished here by The Ancestors a very long time ago.” He said. “And why did they banish you?” I asked. “That’s a story for another time. Just know that I was wrongfully sentenced here and I deserve to be free!” He exclaimed.I had a bad feeling about Sage. Something told me he was banished here fo

Chapter 29(Katrina)I sat up from bed as Rowen walked into my room and softly shut the door behind him. I had changed into a pair of shorts and just a tank top for bed. My hair was up in a bun, out of my way, and I’m sure I looked like I hadn’t slept in days. That was true. The ritual had to happen as soon as possible, but looks like I wasn’t the only one running on no sleep. “Hey.” Rowen said softly. “Hi.” I replied. He came and sat on the foot of the bed. I watched as he rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. He seemed a little nervous. “Are you ok?” I asked him and I put my hand on his arm. He looked at me with those rose gold orbs and I just melted. I hated the way I felt around Ramses’ brothers. I worked so hard to be faithful to Ramses, even though he didn’t reciprocate it, and that was fine! I have literally never been tempted by anyone else. They can all fuck themselves, for all I care. But when it comes to Ramses’ brothers, it’s like they are a drug to me, and I can’t

Chapter 30I’m not sure when I drifted off, but I woke up intertwined between Ramses and Rowen. A flood of memories raced back into my mind from last night, which caused me to silently scold myself for my inhibitions. I planned to tell Ramses first thing, once he was back. I contemplated getting his permission and just having my way with Rowen, but I didn’t actually think I would be able to go through with it. My undying loyalty was sickening at best, and I knew this. But that’s just who I was. I looked over at Rowen and he was still asleep. I turned over and just stared at my ceiling for a moment contemplating the events that were to take place today. The ritual to open the portal required six Human sacrifices... We would be murdering six innocent people today… And in doing so, spilling a lot of innocent blood. These sacrifices would not revive either. It was heavy, but necessary… I didn’t care if it took 100 innocent sacrifices... I was getting Ramses back. The lengths I was will

Chapter 31It took me quite a bit of time to get the incantation just right. I didn’t want to miss a thing. Everything was riding on every part of this whole ritual being perfect. To say I was stressed, was an understatement. But when I finally was able to get it right, I felt that it was perfect. It definitely took longer than I wanted, but it was ok. I would rather take my time and get it right than fuck up trying to hurry. I was surprised though, because Rowen sat with me the entire time and offered his help. He was fluent in Latin, as they all were, so he was able to help out with translation. I was honestly getting used to him being around and I didn’t like it because I knew he would be gone as soon as Ramses came back. He had his own covens to run in the underworld. He had his own home, his own space. He didn’t live in New Orleans… He didn’t belong here, he didn’t belong with me... The thought made my heart ache. The biggest difference between Ramses and Rowen is, Ramses was a

Chapter 32(Ramses) Sage and I had come to the middle point between the two X’s on the map, and stopped there. Everytime I pulled out the map the X moved but only between those two spots, so I figured this was as good of a spot as any. There had to be a reason they were moving between those two spots, and with as weird as things are around here, I didn’t doubt for a second that the portal would be opening up right where we sat. It was the best option we had, in my mind at least. The spot we were in was a clearing between the forest edges. It seemed like the only clearing in the whole area, which confirmed my thought even further that the portal would appear here, vs either of those other two spots the X marked. I just hoped we were here in time. I still wasn't sure what time it was, or how much time had passed. The sun never rises or sets here apparently, and things always just look the same. Sage attempted to talk to me multiple times, but I just kept brushing him off. I needed t

Chapter 33Small flakes of bronze fell from my wings as I flew up to Sages level. The bronze flakes fell softly, like snow, spreading bronze flakes across the ground. Raziel was next to join me. His wings were gold, leaving gold flakes floating softly through the air. Raphael's wings were silver, shedding silver flakes rushing in the wind. It was then that I realized Rowen wasn’t with us. I knew he went to check on Katrina. Something bad must have happened to her, because he hadn’t returned. A panic struck through my guts like an ice pick as I glanced over to see him cradling her body in his arms. I couldn’t tell if he was crying, or not. As much as I wanted to rush over there with them, I couldn’t leave this battle. And we were going to need Rowen too. I mind linked him. “Brother, I know it might seem bad but we need you… Otherwise all of us will end up the same.” I pleaded. “I know.” He said back calmly. Within seconds he was airborne, with a pair of rose gold wings sprouting fro

Then she turned away and started walking with her sister. She hung onto my hand until the last second when she finally let go. “I know you do, beautiful.” I said softly under my breath but I knew she heard me. I then materialized to Katrina. She was in her bedroom, lying in her bed. Still unconscious, but her heart rate was increasing so I figured she would wake up here soon. To my surprise, Rowen wasn’t in her room with her. I sat on the bed next to her and I just took in every feature. She was so beautiful, even in this state, covered in soot and dried blood. I was the luckiest man in the world to have her attention. I know just how my brother, Rowen, was feeling too. I know it had only been a few days for him, but it didn’t take long to realize how special this woman was… I moved some of

Everything was blurry, I felt like I hadn’t opened my eyes in weeks and the light was burning them. “Titan?” I mumbled. “I’m here man!” He replied back in my head. “Oh thank god, I thought you were gone forever.” I murmured. “I told you I would be here!” He replied. I just nodded my head. “Ramses.” Katrina said. I opened my eyes again and tried to focus on her. “Huh? I replied back. She let out a breath I don’t think she was aware she was holding. After a moment things started to clear up and I was able to focus on Katrina’s beautiful face. I smiled at her. “Oh, darlin.” I said, and I sat up and pulled her into my arms. “Ramses, I’m so glad you’re back!” Katrina said, and she held me tightly. I kissed the top of her head and then I looked around. “Darlin, why are we on the floor in the living room?” I asked with a smile. “Re

I’m just not in the right mindset for this right now. I’m sorry.” I said, and I turned and walked away, leaving her standing there in shock. “You ok man? I can’t believe you turned her down… I mean, I get it, but… DAMN.” Titan howled. “I know, ugh… Dude I can't get Katrina out of my mind. This shit is ridiculous. I know she needs to be with Rowen. I'm no good for her. I don't deserve her, and I never have. But for the life of me I can’t even fuck someone else right now and not feel guilty about it. I just feel guilty. This fucking sucks. It’s like the higher up we go the more damage there is.” Titan growled back. “We only have 1 more floor left dude. As much as I don’t want to leave you, because you are bad ass as fuck, my friend… I have to get back to Katrina.” I said to my Wolf. “What was she crying about earlier anyways?” I asked Titan. “Oh, you saw that?” Titan said sheepishly. “Well by accident, I came around the corner to tell Katrina something and saw her crying holding onto you. I thought it was better to let her be, so I just turned around and kept working.” I said. “Oh, yea… Well, she was just having a hard time with Rowen leaving soon. You know, the usual.” Titan said. “You’re hiding something, I can tell.” I said. He must be working on the last floor in his mind.” I said out loud, hoping that this distraction would help everyone to forget about why I came back so soon. We could chalk it off as a random occurrence.I let out a sigh of relief. As much as I was going to miss Rowen, I really wanted Ramses back. I was starting to come to terms with Rowen being gone, and I figured now was as good a time as any to talk to him about it all.“Rowen, can we talk for a while?” I asked him. “Of course, doll. Where would you like to go?” He asked, taking my hand in his and kissing the back of it.“We will be back in a little while, please mind link Rowen if Ramses wake’s up… But I am guessing it won't be for a little while longer.” I said to Raziel, more than anyone. He nodded to me and then turned back to Kember, who was sitting on his lap. And I hope she can understand how I am. Those other bitches will never shine in comparison to Katrina. She's like a goddess among peons when it comes to any other woman. But I will tell you, I will never stop fighting for her attention, her love, her affection. Never.” Ramses said. Rowen was just smiling, drinking rose gold brandy. “I need something from you though, brother.” Ramses said. “Oh? And what would that be?” Rowen said. Ramses went to his brother and put his hand on his shoulder. “If anything were to happen to me… I need you to promise to look out for Katrina. If I watch every single memory we would never get this done. “Titan?” I called out for Ramses’ Wolf as he had disappeared somewhere. Instead, I was greeted by a pair of large hands grabbing me and lifting up. “Katrina! Darlin, how are you here!?” Ramses said, as he wrapped me in a bear hug. Titan bounded around the corner just in time to see our lips meet. “Ramses! I’m so happy to see you!” I said, after he let me down and I caught my breath. “I’m sorry I haven’t made it back yet, there’s been so much fuckery here. Titan and I have been cleaning for hours and we still aren’t close to done. I’m afraid it’s going to take longer than I originally thought.” He said. “You've been in a coma for a week.” I said softly. Ramses looked at me with confusion on his face. “What? A week?? Chapter 51The elevator door opened on floor 3 to reveal men and women dressed in peacock feathers, and that was about it. They were wandering the spaces between the other areas and it looked like each area was a different theme. I saw girls dancing choreography. I saw acting and plays, role playing, improvisation. It seemed like every section was something different. Multiple times on this floor I had women run up to me and try to pull me into their areas to help with whatever it was they were doing at the time. I had to politely decline and keep on track. It could be so distracting in here, I didn’t see how Ramses got anything accomplished with all these women trying to stop him all the time. I just ignored everyone and found the elevator but it was already going up, it was on floor 11 when it stopped. “Strange… I thought I was the only one using the elevator. It seemed that each of the men and women stayed on their respective floors. I could be wrong, but I just hadn’t seen anyo

Chapter 50We stayed in the ocean for a few more hours just enjoying eachothers company before materializing back to my house. We then hopped in the shower and got ready for bed. We were lying down on my bed and I was next to Ramses but tangled in Rowens arms. Our getaway was really great, but now it was back to real life and I was once again thinking of ways to help Ramses. Then I had an idea! What if we tethered myself to Ramses? He doesn’t have any protection in his mind so I could access it easily. I might be able to access the damaged parts and possibly help put them back together? “Rowen! What if we tethered myself to Ramses? I could go into his mind and possibly help find the damaged parts and fix them.” I said, sitting up out of bed and straddling Rowen so he had to listen to me and couldn’t get away. I saw a flash of something in his eyes, but I wasn’t sure just what it was. “Katrina, It could work. Is there a way to get you back after a certain timeframe if it doesn't?” R

Chapter 49(Katrina)It had been a week since Ramses went into his coma after we severed the tether. I still had hope that he could come out of this. I knew healing would take time, and in his own mind there may have been a lot more damage than we expected. I had no idea what was happening inside Ramses’ mind, but I hoped he was able to fix it. We had never done anything like this before, and so we honestly had no idea what to expect. I was extremely grateful for Rowen. He stayed with me this entire time, never leaving me alone. I knew he didn’t want to stay, he wanted to cut ties with me the night Ramses went into his coma. But once he didn’t wake up, Rowen couldn’t bear to leave me alone. I don’t think I could ever repay him, honestly. The week was spent mostly stressing about Ramses and how to help him heal. His brothers visited every couple of days to check on him, and try and heal him but it didn’t seem to work. Their type of healing worked on the body, not the mind, apparentl
