When Sophia dropped the phrase “godfather”, her words carried a deliberately suggestive undertone.

Asher and I both turned to her simultaneously. She pretended to realize “her mistake” too late and immediately stammered, “Miss Gwen… I didn’t mean it like that… It just clicked that I might’ve seen you before…”

Asher’s brows furrowed as he turned to me, his confusion evident. “Gwen, what does she mean by godfather?”

I barely had time to respond before Sophia eagerly jumped in. “Mr. Asher, please don’t misunderstand…”

She hesitated theatrically, then continued, “Last month, I saw Miss Gwen with a man here at our development. At that time, she called him Godfather… Later, on a phone call, I heard her call someone else the same thing.”

She smiled sheepishly in my direction. “But it’s possible I misheard.”

I dragged out a slow, mocking “Hmm…” and met her gaze with a smirk. “No, you didn’t misremember. I did buy two properties from this development. Is there a problem with that?

“As for the term godfather…”

Asher blinked, stunned for several seconds, before snapping to his senses. He turned to Sophia, his tone sharp. “How dare you spread such baseless lies? Gwen is not that kind of person!”

Sophia frantically shook her head. “Mr. Asher, you can check our building’s surveillance footage and facial recognition records if you don’t believe me…”

I had no patience for her theatrics. I grabbed my bag and headed for the exit. “If I remember correctly, the sales consultant who helped me last time was Christine Thompson. She was much more professional. I’ll go find her instead.”

Hearing this, Sophia panicked and quickly backtracked. “Miss Gwen! No! I’m sorry! I was wrong!”

Asher hurried to catch up with me, gently placing his hand on my shoulder. “Gwen, I trust you. Let’s just switch consultants.”

When we returned to the sales lobby, a familiar face appeared. Christine walked up briskly, beaming. “Miss Gwen! I didn’t expect to see you back so soon!”

Asher glanced between Christine and me. I met his gaze and explained, “Asher, I have bought two properties here.”

Dad started out in real estate and collected properties all over the world. Asher already knew this.

So, Asher nodded calmly, reassuring me with a gentle pat on the shoulder. “Of course. I trust you completely. Today, we’re here to buy our own home together.”

Christine caught on quickly and smiled warmly. “Ah, so this is for your future home with your fiancé? Congratulations, Miss Gwen!”

Before I could respond, Sophia stormed over, shoving Christine aside. “Christine! You know the rules about poaching clients! Mr. Asher was my client first. How dare you try to take him from me?”

Sophia’s outburst drew a crowd, and soon the sales manager rushed over to investigate.

Christine had a puzzled look on her face. “Mr. Asher and Miss Gwen are purchasing a home together, so naturally, both their names will be on the paperwork. Miss Gwen has been my client for less than 45 days, which, as per our policy, still makes her my client.”

The sales manager quickly understood the situation and confirmed, “That’s correct. According to the rules, this deal belongs to Christine.”

Sophia glared at me with pure hatred. “Then why didn’t Miss Gwen mention this earlier?”

Feigning innocence, I smiled sweetly. “Well, if you recognized me, how could you not have known? Also, it wasn’t us who asked for you to assist us. You latched onto my fiancé the moment he walked in.

“Lastly, I’m just a customer. How would I know your internal policies?”

Sophia’s face went pale with panic. She grabbed Asher’s arm desperately. “Mr. Asher, it’s my fault for offending Miss Gwen. Maybe… you could just put the house under your name? After all, you’re not married yet…”

I let out a cold laugh. The down payment for this house was coming from my parents. Did she really think Asher would dare to go along with her suggestion?

Asher inhaled deeply and brushed her hand off his arm. “Everything will be done according to my fiancée’s wishes.”

Hearing this, the manager immediately recognized me as a VIP client. He turned on Sophia, shouting, “Apologize to Miss Gwen immediately!”

Under pressure, Sophia grudgingly apologized, her face dark with resentment. Christine then guided us to finalize the purchase of a stunning 8,000-square-foot penthouse with a sky garden and private pool for 23 million dollars.

Sophia’s expression turned green with rage, knowing she had just lost out on a massive commission worth millions.

I, on the other hand, couldn’t help but feel a satisfying sense of justice.

Just when I thought the matter was finally behind me, two weeks later, Christine called me.

“Miss Gwen, I saw something today. At the exclusive golf club on the outskirts of the city, Sophia was there with your fiancé.”

I frowned. I knew this golf course well—it was a wedding gift from my father to Asher. Lately, he had been spending a lot of time there, claiming he was overseeing its management. Christine, sensing my silence, carefully added, “Sophia didn’t notice me nearby, but I overheard her telling a client that she’s Mr. Asher’s personal assistant…” Personal assistant? A real estate agent suddenly transformed into Asher’s personal assistant? Suppressing my anger, I thanked Christine and immediately drove to the golf course. At the entrance, my car was stopped by security. “Excuse me, miss. Do you have a reservation?“This facility is reservation-only.” He continued, giving me a dismissive once-over. “Our boss also requires asset verification for entry. If your net worth isn’t over one million, you can’t go in.” I took off my sunglasses and glared at him coldly. “Oh? Sounds like your boss sets the bar pretty low.” Without waiting for his reaction, I stepped out of the car

The air grew tense for a moment after those words. Sophia, putting on a pitiful act, tugged at Asher’s sleeve and said in a syrupy voice, “Boss, does Gwen not like me being here?“Why, though? She’s already gotten me kicked out of my real estate job, and now she still won’t leave me alone...” She glanced up at him with a helpless, doe-eyed look. “I had no other choice but to come to you.” However, Asher didn’t even acknowledge her words. His piercing gaze was fixed on me, veins bulging on the back of his hands. He clearly couldn’t believe I’d called off the wedding. It took him a long moment to find his voice, but when he did, it wasn’t directed at me or Sophia. He spun around and shouted furiously at Christine, “Why are you trying to ruin my relationship with Gwen? What did you tell her?!” Christine didn’t flinch under his glare. Instead, she let out a dry laugh before pointing at Sophia and replying slowly, “All I did was tell Gwen the truth. After the two of you

After sending the message, I didn’t rush to leave. Instead, I casually pulled a chair over, sat down with elegance, and looked at them. “Asher, you’ve taken freeloading to a whole new level. And you still have the audacity to act so smug? Truly, you’ve opened my eyes.” It was then Asher realized I was serious. He crouched at my feet, wiping the tears off my face with his hand. His voice softened as he pleaded, “Gwen, don’t do this. If not for yourself, think about the house we bought together…“It’s a joint purchase. Both our names are on it. Half of it is mine, and you should care about that money too, right?”“You can’t leave me, and I won’t leave you, either. You have to believe me. I really do love you. I’ll never let you go.” I stared at the man before me, who now felt like a stranger. In the past, I might have been swayed by his words, lulled into forgiving him yet again. Now, however, his voice only felt hollow. Once, he had been a poor scholarship student tha

When Asher realized the men standing before him were all powerful figures he couldn’t afford to offend, he quickly raised his hands in a panic. “No, no, you’ve got it all wrong! Gwen and I are engaged. I was only acting out of concern. Please, gentlemen, understand my situation.” His words had barely left his mouth when Bill stepped forward and punched him square in the face. “You’ve been using my goddaughter’s money to keep a mistress?!” Bill roared. His fiery gaze landed on Sophia, who was cowering behind Asher. “Her? Seriously?” Harry didn’t hold back, either. “Who did you think you were five years ago, huh? If it weren’t for Gwen’s kindness, you wouldn’t be where you are right now!” “Exactly! You’ve got some nerve, spending her money on this nonsense. Take a good look in the mirror, and see what you’re worth!” The room erupted with uncles and godfathers tearing into Asher, their words as cutting as knives. The next two weeks could only be described as a spectacular downfall for Asher. First, his company wasted no time firing him. Then, I hired the best lawyer in town to reclaim the mansion we were supposed to share as a wedding home. Of course, Asher didn’t take it lying down. He showed up outside my office multiple times, causing a scene, only to be promptly thrown out by security every time. “Gwen! You can’t do this to me! I’m your fiancé!” I crossed my arms, watching him with a faint smirk. “Not anymore.”“You… you’re trying to drive me to my death!” he shouted, his face contorted with rage. I scoffed. “I’m not driving you anywhere. You’re the one who dug your own grave.” From the envy of everyone as the supposed “son-in-law of a real estate mogul,” Asher plummeted to nothing more than a penniless nobody. As for Sophia, without Asher to fund her lifestyle, she returned to her previous job as a real estate saleswoman. One day, I received a call from Christine

That evening, we drove off in the Rolls-Royce Grandpa gifted us, planning to check out a newly developed luxury apartment complex nearby for our future home. The moment we arrived at the property, I made a quick stop at the restroom. I was just trying to press the elevator button for you!“Please, don’t report me. I’m just a sales consultant, not like you. You can probably get a house with just a bat of your eyelashes. You can yell at me all you want later. Just… please don’t file a complaint.” Seeing that the spot where her heel had landed was red, Asher kneeled down, gently massaging the top of my foot. He looked up, concerned, but said, “Gwen, let it go. I don’t think she did it on purpose. I’ll carry you if it hurts.” My chest tightened with frustration, but I forced myself to calm down.
