Meanwhile, in the next door another team had just entered their room. The first thing that Zayden noticed is the centre table in the middle of the room. Seeing that puzzles him why it’s there, when it’s not suitable at all.
He decided to push it to the side and sat down on top of it. He seemed to be thinking of something as he stared at the spot where the table was. He looked at Andrik and the others who are checking out the whole room. He is dead set on testing his suspicion.
“Guys, can you stand over there for a minute?” he said. When no one obeyed, he stood up and started pushing them towards the spot.
“What’s up with you?” Andrik muttered in an annoyed voice.
“It won’t kill you to just do it.” Blaize snapped.
Ahrio and Toffer feels bored but they stayed standing on the same spot because they don’t want to bother arguing with these dorks.
Zayden observed but nothing seems to happen. He looked up and thought,” was I wrong?” Right then he saw the timer on the ceiling showing 25 minutes counting down. He smirked and the floor collapsed taking the four of them down into the hole.
“F*ck you, Zayden.” Andrik cursed angrily at him.
“You’re as good as dead, you asshole.” Ahrio firmly uttered.
“This isn’t that bad as it is.” Jade said with a grin as he rubs his head on to Blaizes’ chest. His head comfortably settled on to the latter’s head when they fell.
“Get off, you retard.” Blaize pushed his head off of him.
They all scampered to get up from the ground. They looked up to Zayden but he is nowhere to be seen. Zayden is already back at the table he was sitting on earlier laughing at the fools he had successfully deceived.
They all noticed the clothes down behind them. Blaize picked it off the ground and he saw the message written there. “THE UNIFORMS.”
“Is this what they think people have trouble figuring out?” Andrik said sarcastically.
Jade sighed and said “We just have to get these tacky uniforms out of here.
“Zayden!” Ahrio called.
Zayden walked towards the hole and looked down at them.
“What? Can’t save yourselves? Beg me!” he teased and mocked them.
“You’re the one who have to save yourself once I’m out of here.” Ahrio replied.
“That’s if you can get out of there before the time runs out. You have 15 minutes left” Zayden pointed towards the timer on the ceiling.
“Why didn’t you tell us earlier, you scumbag.” Andrik cursed at him again.
“You didn’t ask!” Zayden snickered.
“I’ll certainly will not forget to ask you your last words.” Ahrio threatened him again.
“You better think twice about that, Ahrio. He’s the one who can help us out of here.” Blaize said.
“Stop the chitchats, you’re like gays.” Jade muttered.
“We have to get out of here, it’s getting hot.”
The moment Andrik said that, thick flames of fire emerged from below them as the platform descended lower.
“We have plenty of time, chill dude.” Zayden joked.
He started grabbing the blankets off the bed and tying them together. When he’s done with it, he looked back at them again and he flings the makeshift rope out of the blankets.
“Ahrio, climb up here first.” He suggested.
He grabs the end of the blanket and started to climb up. He already reached the middle when Zayden let go of the blankets.
“Oops, that was not intentional at all.” He said while holding his laughter.
A series of profanities came out of Ahrio’s lips when he fell back down. “I swear I’ll kill you!”
Blaize can’t control himself and burst into laughter, the others influenced by his laughter, laughed as well.
Andrik took off his shirt and use it to wipe his sweat. Jade saw it and can’t take his eyes off of Andrik’s well-built body. The others followed suit. The platform descended once more, taking them closer to the fire. There’s only 5 minutes left now.
“We really need to get out of here.” Ahrio reminded them.
“Obviously.” Blaize replied sarcastically.
Zayden who actually found a folded, long metal that looks like a fishing hook on its tip, under the bed earlier, decided it’s time to put them out of their misery.
“Surprise, motherf*ckers!” Zayden said enthusiastically as he showed it to them. He unfolded the metal and lowered it down.
“You really took your sweet time, didn’t you?” Jade said, irritated at Zayden for keeping the long metal hook for too long.
“Hang the uniforms on the hook, useless dudes.” Zayden instructed and taunted them. No one seems trust him anymore aside from Blaize who immediately picked up the uniforms and did as Zayden instructed.
Zayden pulled the metal hook up and out of the hole. After that successfully done, the platform lifted up, returning back to how it was before----the floor of the room. The four guys is out of the hole now, relieved.
There’s one minute left on the timer and they all waited, then it disappeared right when there was only 10 seconds left. “MISSION FULFILLED”, appeared on the ceiling a few moments after the countdown.
Ahrio glared at Zayden and bolted towards him, choking him hard in anger. Blaize who saw this, followed after Ahrio and choked him as well. Andrik and Jade both shook their heads in dismay and proceeded to walk to their beds and laid down, unbothered.
For some, this might seem like a joke between friends but for Ahrio, he really did feel the urge to kill Zayden. Zayden started gasping for breath and his eyes turned pale as he tried to pry Ahrio’s hands off his neck. Blaize tightened his choke on Ahrio and soon, he too, started gasping for air.
Zayden couldn’t take it anymore, he tapped Ahrio’s arm as an act of surrender. Ahrio who was lost in a trance regained his consciousness and immediately let go of Zayden. He fell into his back, coughing, rubbing his chest and taking deep breaths. Blaize also let Ahrio go, glaring at him dangerously as a warning.
Ahrio’s brow raised in question, “Are you his living guardian angel or something?”
Blaize ignored him and sat down on the bed next to Andrik. Jade remembered something, he got up from the bed and looked at Blaize and then Zayden repeatedly.
“You have the same surname! Flynn. Are you two brothers?” he voiced out his thoughts.
Blaize just shrugged, “No. Flynn is like the most common surname in the world. Zayden doesn’t own it.”
“If not, then are you gay? Do you like him?” Jade excitedly asked.
“Yes. I like….” He trailed off as he walked towards Jade slowly. ” To choke you!” He attempted to choke him but Jade docked and ran away from him laughing.
And that’s how their unlikely, and unexpected friendship began….
“Please step on the square now.” The host’s voice can be heard through the speakers in the arena. The women followed the instruction given to them with slight hesitation. “Brace yourselves! Tomorrow will be your first game and as the leaders you will play a very important role. But before that, some of you will no longer be part of tomorrow’s event.” The women looked at each other in confusion. They all have the same question, “What does that mean?” However, before their question could be answered, several wo
Everything is set for the first game to commence. The leaders are inside of a 10ft covered cylinder-shaped glass container, waiting on the finish line. The waves are quite strong as it hits the glass on both sides. The water level inside the cylinder starts at the bottom and as time passes by, it increases. If the members fail to reach the finish line, the leader will drown. All the players are also in position, standing on a long, rectangular, metal podium, ready for the game. They will be given 25 minutes to complete the task of swimming 50 meters, getting the leader out of the cylinder and taking her back to the shore.
Back into the yacht, the players are all seated in their respective tables while they wait for the waiters to serve them their dinner after they changed into dry set of clothes. The place is filled with soft, melodic music, and the lights were dimmed as everyone talks about the game that had just finished while sipping their drinks. Some were laughing and giggling when they recall how they aced the recent game whereas some appeared to be traumatized, staring into thin air. Yekaterina’s table however is still filled with tension among the
Jade had never felt bolder and sexier than she ever did, except now, for she finally decided to let out her real sexual identity. And yes, Jade identified as a she from now on. She sashayed her way into the entrance of the forest where everyone was gathered for the next game tonight, wearing their uniform that she had specifically customize into a black short hoodie, gothic, punk pullover crop top, hooded sweatshirt long sleeves with alloy chain connected to the neckline that goes around her hips and backside, then she paired it with the women’s leggings uniform instead of the jogging pants assigned for the men. That wasn't supposed to be her uniform. Men were given black jogging pants and black hooded sweatshi
The moon rose in the sky, illuminating the forest. Yekaterina noticed something that sparkles and is shiny on the dead animal’s body a few steps farther. She walked closer to it and she picked up a tree branch. When she was close enough, she used the tree branch to separate the decayed flesh from the shiny thing. It’s a key. She bent down and pick it up. She wasn’t even able to examine it thoroughly when suddenly another group of players came and one of them, a normal looking guy, bolted towards her and grabbed the key forcefully, taking her by surprise.
Zayden’s hand reached out and smack Ahrio’s head, bringing him back to reality. “Do you want to die? Why are you giving her all the keys?” At this point, the woman had already received the keys. Ahrio realized his mistake but he didn’t know how to tell her so he just slowly pulled one key out from the set while the woman watched him, puzzled and wondering what the hell is wrong with him. Zayden immediately grabbed the key from Ahrio’s hand, annoyed at his starstruck expression.
Blaize put Jade on the hospital bed at once when they were back inside the arena. There is a mini-hospital inside the arena and all the players are provided with medical treatment only once if they were still alive after completing a game successfully. “I need your assistance.” Yekaterina said as she wears the medical gloves. She had already checked Jade’s pulse and she’s still alive, fortunately. The wound is not that deep and luckily, it didn’t reach her organs or any main vein. “P
Jade’s body is shivering. She had fallen back to sleep after only a short minute of being awake. Yekaterina shakes her gently, to wake her up. "Jade, are you okay?” She asked, to which Jade replied, “Yes”. Then her eyes fluttered close, falling asleep again. Yekaterina fixed her blanket to cover her body properly.
Big explosions from fireworks one after another are heard from the outside, visible in the glass wall. Everyone wore splendid dresses. From a first glance and by its blinking, shiny beads on it that’s probably worth an average worker’s yearly salary, it's not just an affordable dress that a middle class could easily afford. Everyone has glass wine on their hand, cheers reverberated throughout the area when the fireworks were done. "Good evening, everyone." A host on the stage began his introductory speech. He wore a tuxedo, a gloomy g
The silence that ensued between them was enough to express the despair and misery they’re all feeling. Yekaterina and Andrik won, but it’s like they lost gravely. They don’t feel like they had won at all. In a game where you have to kill your friends and family just to win and survive, no one really wins at all. “Use it, Zayden. Save yourself.” Yekaterina said, when Zayden just stayed rooted where he is sitting. He looks lost in a trance, unable to move. He had laid down Blaize’s body on the ground beside Minerva and he sat down there leaning against the wall, staring into nothing.
The sound of his nose breaking echoed in his ears when BGN1’s fist connected with his face. Tradd’s head reared back as his eyes shut in pain. He staggers back a few steps but kept himself standing up, even when he can feel how much strength it takes to get himself together after having his world almost turn around in a dizzying axis. He re-enforces his stance, lifting the arnis in front of him higher and readying for BGN1’s next attack. BGN1 snickered, thinking just how useless his choice of weapon was against his extremely, bulky muscular form. He flexes his biceps and his
Blaize cocks the gun and approached where Zayden is hiding but he wasn’t there anymore. From behind, Zayden strangles him with his arms wrapped around his neck. He dropped the gun and grasp his arms to try and remove it around his neck. But Zayden held on to him tightly, not letting his hold on him loose. Blaize struggles to get free, he kicks his knee and elbowed him, hitting his neck and causing him to let go of him as he groaned in pain. “How dare you lie through your teeth and claim you’re my brother!”
Bringing each of their weapons, they went out of the room and decided to ride the elevator down to see what’s going on in the other floors. They paused and froze in their steps when the elevator door opened. The elevator walls and floors had been painted with blood. It won’t take a genius to be able to tell what transpired here. “The hunt has begun.” Yekaterina muttered in a low, breathy voice. The stench of blood is so strong as they stepped inside the elevator. Yekaterina pressed the ground floor and in just a matter of minutes, the elevator stopped and the doors ope
The sudden change was unprecedented, putting them all in a state of vulnerability. Yekaterina and her team had always played fair, not knowing the game beforehand except the previous game. Knowing beforehand is cheating and it’s like a drug that enabled them to relax and put their guard down. But just like a drug, once its effect wears off, you’re left with an anxiety you’re unable to handle. Your fears come back stronger and this time, you crave the relief and fake bliss that the drug has offered. That’s exactly wha
Tossing and groaning from the searing pain on his shoulder, Blaize woke up. He sat up in bed and looked down at his wounded arm, noticing that it looks like it’s getting an infection. He’s also coming down with a fever. He dreamt about the past again, just like every single time when he’s sick. It started when his grandfather passed away, leaving him with an information and a mission. To find and protect his twin brother. Yes, you got that right. Zayden Jaxen Flynn is Blaize’s twin brother. Gripping the folded picture
Blaize woke up from the aches of his body. Just like his normal day, he trained without any breaks. "You woke up already?" He saw his grandfather at the door of his room. "Come on, let's jog before the sun's up." "Grandpa, can I skip today?"
Instead of analysing what the game is all about, Yekaterina's group is amazed by the setting of the game, how prepared and detailed it is. If Jade didn’t tell them ahead of what this game is, they'll be all so busy finding and understanding the clues and the worst is there's chance that they will be eliminated. Contrary to their competitor for this game, the other group sealed their eyes on the balls. Examining what will be the best ball that they will choose to survive.
