Hardulph assisted Carolina in getting into his car, when he was sure she was comfortable in the passenger’s seat, he closed the door properly before proceeding to the driver’s seat so that he would drive her home as promised.

Though Carolina was not all comfortable with going back to the mansion with Hardulph, she tried not to show it as she took her face out of the car window and stared at the busy streets as they drove by.

“So how has it been with Connor?” Hardulph tried to start a conversation with Carolina. She only turned to gaze at him suspiciously.

“Did Connor tell you to come and get me?” she inquired with narrowed eyes.

“Of course not. Me and Connor have not been in touch for a long time now” Hardulph defended himself but still Carolina was not convinced.

She could not deny that she was feeling so uneasy riding in the same car as Hardulph. Her mind was troubled because she kept wondering if her encounter with Hardulph was a coincidence as he claimed or if there was something
