Chapter 3 – New mission

Kat’s reply came even before he had finished “Yep”
Jay headed up the hall out of earshot pulling his com screen from his pocket, he clicked on his superior’s secured line and was greeted with “Jay report!”
“Did corporal Gus, report to you? Have you seen our preliminary?”
“Negative”
Confused Jay continued “I sent Corporal Gus back to you almost 20mins ago, he should have that document in your hand by now,”
“You fill me in, I need something to go on now! and your explanation will be better than any report”
Jay quickly brought him up to speed, filling him in on his gut feeling about the assignation attempt, the princess’s safety and the listening devices discovered in her private apartments. He also requested to have his team be delegated to the princess’s protection detail.
With confirmation of their new mission and no news to report about the Kings current condition he clicked off the line. He took another moment to re-organise his thoughts before returning to the sitting parlour.
Shimel and Lacy had settled the princess with a tea tray and biscuits. The colour had started to return to her face and her hands weren’t shaking quiet as bad.
They all looked up at his arrival, he put a professional smile on his face while he informed the princess that his team had been assigned as her protection detail until this was all sorted out and the perpetrators found. “There is also no news of your fathers’ condition”
It had been 6 hours since he was shot, if he was still being operated on the prospects of him surviving weren’t good at all.
Then he remembered something else that had been bothering him. When he placed his hand on the princess’s arm to stop her entering the apartments, he had felt something concealed in her sleeve. How to tackle this, she must trust him before he could bring this up but if this had something to do with her safety he needed to know now. He never was good at playing the long game, so direct questions it would be. He turned to Kat and tossing the listening devices in the sound proof bag to her he ordered “Get these to the Benny and I want both of you to try and track their origin and where they were transmitting to.” Kat with a sharp nod, headed for the door “and Kat this stays only between the core, no transfers . . .and send me Beeves and Boris with the pieces of Royal jewellery” again Kat nodded and continued.
That gave him about 20mins to work out what the Princess was hiding.
He sat on the seat adjacent to her lounge, he swiped a biscuit from the tray and took a bite, once he had finished the biscuit, he turned his gaze on the princess and quietly asked “is what you’re concealing in your sleeve, have anything to do with your safety”

Mia woke, stretching as smile played on her lips even before she open her eyes, she secretly loved this time of morning, waking up a few minutes before the day bell. She entered the run’s changeroom and went to her locker to pull out her orange outside suit, and checked it over for damage or weak spots. They had to wear them whenever they went out, it protected them from the elements, the harsh cold and unforgiving rays of light that reflected into the solar system. Captain Jay’s mind was racing, making lists of all the things he needed to get done, he needed a team to protect Princess Rota and a team to go and find the missing princess, He needed his core team now. He had other guards beneath him but they were transfers from other squads or new recruits that he hadn’t had time to asse yet. Captain Jay’s call to his superior went off without a hitch, Kat was authorised to watch the princess and they had permission to follow up on the lead but he would need a spaceship, and a crew who he could trust. At the unloading dock the younger trainees where already starting to carry the smaller parcels inside to put in the mess hall, the older trainees would use the trolleys and move the bigger supplies, that were in metal shipping crates. There were about 20 crates to unload and then empty crates that were delivered last month were loaded abord. The whole process took about two hours.Most of the trainees then wondered back in via the mess hall to check for their parcels they ordered. Captain jay threw his duffel bag into the boot of his car as it pulled up at the water gate, two mins early. Mia had a weird dream that night, Mia was being led by someone who was familiar but she didn’t know who. It was a young woman dressed all in white, the white woman lead her into a dome and on every surface they were moving images or footage playing. Each scene contained a certain woman as the focal point. All the different scenes all starring the same woman. Mia gasp as she took in each new scene. The woman picked up and tightly hugged a young girl who had just fallen and hurt herself, the woman solving a dispute between two boys, the woman running with all her might towards a fight, the woman laughing with a friend, the woman standing strong while under attack from an unknown threat, the woman rushing to the rescue of a teenage girl, the woman taking a shot at her enemy. Once they were back in their apartments, Jay stood Mia beside their bed and he removed her dress and took her hair out. Mia could feel the anticipation coursing through her heating her core. Jay then knelt before her and removed her ankle boots and holster. He then peeled her tight black pants down so she was just in her underwear. He ran his hand up the inside of her leg. The Elites began the Banquet and after they were announced Mia and Rota held hands while they walked out to take their seats, Jay was announced next and he followed. There were a few whispers as people took in Mia’s dress. They all stood before their seats until Rota had declared the Banquet to begin. Jay then helped Queen Rota into her seat and then Mia, taking his seat next to Mia.The food was delicious and between courses Rota took Mia around the tables to officially introduce her to the people of Ziion. She got a lot of comments about her dress. She just smiled politely and thanked them. As the dessert was brought out, they wondered back to their table. Day 21The next day Mia was introduced to all the Palace advisors and important people at a variety of events and functions all organised by Rota and Aunt Alice. Mia was also given two senior attendants that could help her with everything from hair and make up to who she might meet at the next event and the traditions behind the events.
